What is sad is that people think a public option will solve their problems. Not only would a public option ruin the market, it would put millions out of work, it would be rationed to hell, and it would be another money pit for our govt to go into debt over. We cannot even afford the INTEREST on our debt as it is, so we can afford shit like a govt plan? Anyone who had the money to buy health insurance, but spent it on other things, then gets cancer and complains no one will let her buy health insurance then, should be shot. Oh really, now that you have a $300,000 a year condition they won't let you join for $300/month, amazing how that works. We should help those who can't pay on their own, but only after they submit all their finances to public scrutiny, anyone who spends money on any luxuries will have all that taken from them for insurance

You need to study the demographic of people who don't have health insurance before making these God awful claims. As of 2005, most of those without health insurance were those who's incomes were less than $25,000 a year. I don't understand why you'd attack these people when what you wrote really only applies to a minute fraction of the demographic. The $300,000/yr condition is what insurance is all about, they are built to take a hit like that because most don't cause expenses.

galept, the poor are already covered through Medicaid, those uninsured who aren't well off, which are many of them, are lower middle class types, who do have some money at least they spend on luxuries. If you are uninsured, but watch movies, go to fast food joints, order pizza, have a cellphone, have cable tv, have a pet, have a car payment, you have money to pay for at least some of your own health insurance, and all of that must be cut out and directed towards it before handouts commence.

If it's a need, not a want. If health insurance is a need, then obviously we couldn't allow anyone saying they need someone else to pay for it for them to pay 1 cent for any luxuries in their lives. If it's a need you pass up going to restaurants or getting cable or driving a fancier car than you should with higher payments before you pay for your health insurance. The amount we should help with is Cost of Insurance - amount beneficiary spends on non-necessities.

I certainly got angry that she acted like she was the one stressing the importance of opening debate when she was one who had to be convinced. Even the 1994 health care bill had a unanimous vote to debate. The Senate is dysfunctional.
