  • Apparently, there were jokes in this broadcast.

  • Anyone got a video of Tolka Row ?

  • LOL ... Charles Mitchell ... please be on the alert ... my wife has the car ... I was 5 when this aired ... thanks a lot ... :)

p.s. fiddlinshim, how does it feel to be so ignorant?

  • @irishocity ...Hey Tim boy!....You didn't recognise anybody but Mitchell?...What about Gay Byrne as the Nazi....Why they made Gay a Nazi I don't know!....And remember Eamon Morrissey?....Hall's Pictorial Weekly!....What's your beef with Fiddlinshim?....The start of the show DOES sound a bit like The Simpsons theme tune...Love ya Tim!....Kev.....

  • Hey kev .. I guess I need to watch it a little slower next time :) Fiddlinshim problem is he / she can't see past the diddly idle of the piece, and see how valuable it is to actually be able to see it at all ... let's skype this week ... good luck with the script ... love you too

  • Ah remember Dana, on the high stool, singing away,,, still eating tayto and drinkin Miwadi,,,, loved being a kid in the 70s it was great,

  • thaks for a trip back to my 8 year old self watchin this, with ma and da, drinking miwadi orange and eating tayto,

  • haha! I was 8 in 1970 too! Remember watching Ireland winning the eurovision song contest in 1970 also?

  • Hi,

I wonder if you might know if any video has survived of the singer/songwriter Jonathan Ledingham who later changed his name to Jonathan Kelly, RTE say they have wiped all his performances.

  • This is fascinating, and your hard work is not unappreciated by any means!

Is there a chance you could upload the whole thing to Google Video, maybe?

  • If I could I would, but what you find here are the only images from the show that survived. The original broadcast master is wiped and lost forever. These are home recordings from a private collection.

  • You're doing a great service so. It's such a shame that RTE didn't keep so much of their treasures. Well done! Please keep up the good work.... you're appreciated.

  • Wonderful, wonderful. Thank you. My eldest son was just 4 years old at the time of this broadcast. I have contented memories of watching tv that Christmas along with my wife. Thank you so much for posting these, I never thought I'd see them again.

  • Thanks. I have been contacted by the RTE. This program is NOT held in their archives. My tape is probably the only surviving recording and will probably return to RTE for preservation.
