Why Pick on Me almost has a Polka beat, but then the chorus is so evocative of the 60's that it almost hurts, it's like two different songs stuck together.
Thanks for sharing this. the Standells are my fave of all the classic punky garage bands. what a joy to see this clips in great quality. Cheers to beyondthebeat.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.
Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.
The Hollywood Bowl? It was a weekly TV program called "The Hollywood Palace." I remember watching all kinds of different bands on the show. They just don't make music like this anymore.
This Is The United States of America 2010. It is Indeed Very Very Sad a Great Country Has Come to Allow This Type of Censorship, it's Actually Pathetic, and That Youtube is Beholden to These Selfish People.
It's this super-selfish "my way or the highway" which is causing things like this to happen, along with a slue of other unfortunate events. God forbid you have to think outside the box and realize that the old way of doing things actually causes more harm than good.
Don't buy any Warner Music Group owned records . This is ridiculous . This is free advertisement for those not familiar with this California groups signing about Boston , they also had one out for Houston and several other City's after this was a hit , Warner Music Music sucks .
It is sad that unfortunately, this has become "the American Way" - Instead of spreading the memory of these great groups, lets WMG's legal staff spend their energies going after such videos and the people that enjoy them. This is a part of our history, how about taking our national anthem off the air or charging for listening to it while we are at it.
@lancelot1953 No kidding, this is our modern museum of our life's musical history. I'm all for giving the artists and technical people their due (royalties), but my God if they're not paying them than screw The Man.
way to go, WMG. keep the Standells out of circulation- strip the audio out & don't offer fans a way to buy the song through iTunes. good job, keep those shareholders happy. money money.
Ah man, what a cryin' shame this great clip doesn't have a soundtrack thanks to some bean counting beaurocrats at WMG - people who understand the cost of everything but the value of nothing.
Boycote the buggers & illegally download everything on their label!
Warner Music Group. It used to be Universal that had something in their craw but now apparently WMG has got sand in their vaginas or anuses to be more inclusive.
Fuck WMG.. these guys never got paid the proper royalties in the first place, and now you're screwing with the fan base that keeps them popular (after all these years)
If it wasn't for people like us , you would make no money off of bands like this..throw us a bone corporate schills!!!
The Standells are together again with their 1st bass player, Gary Lane. They have all remained friends over the years. As mentioned, they will be perfoming in Las Vegas on May 23rd. Find out more on the Standells Facebook page.
That is a Vox "Teardrop 12" (string) guitar, Vox bass, and a Vox Continental organ. Chances are, that the show's instruments were provided by Vox. The shows "Shindig", "Hullabuloo". & "Where The Action Is" all provided Vox gear.
Well, the original stated lovers, f--kers and theives. This was edited for telly. I rememember because as a 11 year old mad drummer we played "dirty" in the school dance. The powers were not happy, nor were we, banned for the year in NY state. 40 years ago. OUCH>

This band made about 7 nice tracks,
but hardly essential .
You could use all the exposure you can get, for that iffy back catalogue.
Let it rot in your vaults then.

The dude on bass John Fleck ended up a cimemaphotographer. Worked on Jaws.

Actually, the "dude" in this video was Dave Burke who was the
Standells 2nd bass player. Dave was with the group for less than a year, and was replaced by John Fleck.

Yes i realised I was wrong just after I posted. But I right about Fleck even though he isnt the guy here lol.
