  • @bobyoung53 no i`ts a framus star bass like a bill wyman

  • Why Pick on Me almost has a Polka beat, but then the chorus is so evocative of the 60's that it almost hurts, it's like two different songs stuck together.

  • Righteous guitars.

  • Brilliant miming from Dickie :)

  • Thanks for sharing this. the Standells are my fave of all the classic punky garage bands. what a joy to see this clips in great quality. Cheers to beyondthebeat.

  • To bad this is all lip syncing....

  • The Hoolywood palace show is responsible for some great 60s footage. Thanx for posting.

  • The singers voice reminds me of Mick Jagger and kind of George Harrison.

  • The Hollywood Bowl? It was a weekly TV program called "The Hollywood Palace." I remember watching all kinds of different bands on the show. They just don't make music like this anymore.

  • GREAT CLIP!

  • dirty water is played but great to see why pick on me

  • I prefer the second song! GREAT!!!!

  • Great gem of classic rock! Thanks for posting.

  • WHat bullshit, those morons don't understand FREE publicity?

  • This Is The United States of America 2010. It is Indeed Very Very Sad a Great Country Has Come to Allow This Type of Censorship, it's Actually Pathetic, and That Youtube is Beholden to These Selfish People.

  • im 25 and im drinking imperium sour dielse and smoking jakd daniels d(:

  • Fuck copyright. Period

  • wheres the audio?? This is bullshit..who is responsible for this?

  • It's this super-selfish "my way or the highway" which is causing things like this to happen, along with a slue of other unfortunate events. God forbid you have to think outside the box and realize that the old way of doing things actually causes more harm than good.

  • where is the sound?

  • Most of these groups were screwed out of any royalties now WMG is screwing their fans as well!

  • Don't buy any Warner Music Group owned records . This is ridiculous . This is free advertisement for those not familiar with this California groups signing about Boston , they also had one out for Houston and several other City's after this was a hit , Warner Music Music sucks .

  • Teardrop Vox guitar toooooo coooool.

  • please remove the half assed vids from now on---

  • WMG = SUCK!

  • I thought I'd listen to this and maybe buy some music from iTunes, but I guess I'll listen to something from a cooler record company.

  • damn youtube.

  • WMG {sad,sad,sad)

  • It is sad that unfortunately, this has become "the American Way" - Instead of spreading the memory of these great groups, lets WMG's legal staff spend their energies going after such videos and the people that enjoy them. This is a part of our history, how about taking our national anthem off the air or charging for listening to it while we are at it.

    L - Veteran, 3 wars!

  • @lancelot1953 No kidding, this is our modern museum of our life's musical history. I'm all for giving the artists and technical people their due (royalties), but my God if they're not paying them than screw The Man.

  • Fuck WMG

  • I'm deaf!!

  • way to go, WMG. keep the Standells out of circulation- strip the audio out & don't offer fans a way to buy the song through iTunes. good job, keep those shareholders happy. money money.

  • Ah man, what a cryin' shame this great clip doesn't have a soundtrack thanks to some bean counting beaurocrats at WMG - people who understand the cost of everything but the value of nothing.

Boycote the buggers & illegally download everything on their label!

  • WTF is WMG ?

  • Warner Music Group. It used to be Universal that had something in their craw but now apparently WMG has got sand in their vaginas or anuses to be more inclusive.

  • Wimps (who are) Mucho Greedy.

  • it's a bad bad world.... but the music can be great...

  • Shoot, hes got a vox teardrop...

  • It's not only a teardrop, it's a 12 string !

  • WMG=WhiteMotherfuckersGonebad

  • SHAME WMG---SHAME ON YOUR COMPANY!!

  • Fuck WMG.. these guys never got paid the proper royalties in the first place, and now you're screwing with the fan base that keeps them popular (after all these years)

If it wasn't for people like us , you would make no money off of bands like this..throw us a bone corporate schills!!!

  • WMG+ Total fatass Yuppie greedy losers.......Boycott their stuff!!!!!! I'm going to!

  • WMG sucks

  • stupid copyright

  • Yeah........I will watch the whole fuckin

    thing 'cause I am UNAUTHORIZED!!!

  • Right that's bloody it, I've had just about enough of WMG!

75 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10019, let's march on thier asses long-hairs!

(or maybe send just send an indignant email...)

  • No fuckin'big deal anywayzzzzz WMG......

This band made about 7 nice tracks,

    but hardly essential .

You could use all the exposure you can get, for that iffy back catalogue.

Let it rot in your vaults then.

  • No f•cking big deal anywayzzzzz WMG......

This band made about 7 nice tracks,

    but hardly essential .

You could use all the exposure you can get, for that iffy back catalogue.

  • thanks WMG, dooooooshers!!

  • FUCK WMG.

  • anyone know what kind of bass that is?

  • Framus Star Bass, and a beauty at that!

  • WMG doesnt give a rats ass about music, only making money...fucking pieces of trash

  • WMG,go die.

  • Andate a quel paese!!!!!

  • The dude on bass John Fleck ended up a cimemaphotographer. Worked on Jaws.

  • Actually, the "dude" in this video was Dave Burke who was the

Standells 2nd bass player. Dave was with the group for less than a year, and was replaced by John Fleck.

  • Yes i realised I was wrong just after I posted. But I right about Fleck even though he isnt the guy here lol.

  • The Standells are together again with their 1st bass player, Gary Lane. They have all remained friends over the years. As mentioned, they will be perfoming in Las Vegas on May 23rd. Find out more on the Standells Facebook page.

  • They can be seen playing on a Munsters episode.

  • To WMG lawyers...you've got too much free time!

  • up yer bum WMG!

  • The Beatle wannabe look!

  • "Why Pick On Me?" is 100% excellent.

  • Im sure this song was covered by "Freedom" in early 70s for the UK

  • apparently they never even visited boston

  • EB2 Gibson bass?? Electric piano what? Wurlitzer??

  • That is a Vox "Teardrop 12" (string) guitar, Vox bass, and a Vox Continental organ. Chances are, that the show's instruments were provided by Vox. The shows "Shindig", "Hullabuloo". & "Where The Action Is" all provided Vox gear.

    -Just a helpful tidbit! : )

  • Song that completely captivated the Boston college scene in the late 60's. Still captivates Fenway Park after a big win.

  • anything more badass than the Vox Teardrop? Brian Jones..nuff said.

  • Proud to be from Redondo Beach.

  • Cool Style - Tight Band - Thanks

  • The guy introducing them was Vince Edwards of Ben Casey fame.

  • Nice!!!

  • Totally groooovy.Love the wacky xmas decorations in the background.

  • Who's the guy introducing them?

  • Paging Dr. Ben Casey !!!

  • Dirty Water had trouble getting air play in the Boston area because of the line "lovers, muggers, and thieves."

  • Well, the original stated lovers, f--kers and theives. This was edited for telly. I rememember because as a 11 year old mad drummer we played "dirty" in the school dance. The powers were not happy, nor were we, banned for the year in NY state. 40 years ago. OUCH>

  • This is the original version. They are just lip-synching to the record.

  • Lovers, muggers & thieves....original lyrics. Never was fuckers....fucker !

  • Spooky!

  • ben! Ben!

  • Haha....yeah cool trick!

  • That unorthodox drumstick spin is pretty damn cool

  • "Dirty Water" sounds on Farrelly bros "Fever Pitch" at the begining. Great stuff.

  • Thanks, this is awesome.
