Solid Snake is a clone of Big Boss (so are Liquid and Solidus). You play as Big Boss in MGS3 (which is set in the 60s), but he only earns this title after the events of MGS3 (almost wrote a spoiler then).

He's saluting Big Boss. He doesn't really know who the Boss is, but his relationship with Big Boss is very similar, hence why the split second flashback features Big Boss saluting her grave.

I'd recommend playing the games first. Now, if you don't mind it in a reading form, just download the encyclopedia. As you progress thru the game it unlocks more info so you can figure out something you might of missed or don't understand.
It would take very long to explain. Besides, MGS4 isn't necessarily superior than the other three games: they're all must-plays. I see no reason to detract from your enjoyment of any of these masterpieces.
It would take too long to explain it well. Playing the first 3 (IMO), gives 4 a better feel when you have first hand experience w/the info/characters that are being faced/interacted with.

well ok it DOES depends on the guy who make the movie i agree with u U_u. but if you noticed, once the make a movie based on a game, they totally change the fucking story that why they suck, yea if the director is good he well make a badas msg movie, but i bet u mi fucking life that he will change the hole story or mostly 50% of it.....

I'd recommend playing the games first. Now, if you don't mind it in a reading form, just download the encyclopedia. As you progress thru the game it unlocks more info so you can figure out something you might of missed or don't understand.

It would take very long to explain. Besides, MGS4 isn't necessarily superior than the other three games: they're all must-plays. I see no reason to detract from your enjoyment of any of these masterpieces.

It would take too long to explain it well. Playing the first 3 (IMO), gives 4 a better feel when you have first hand experience w/the info/characters that are being faced/interacted with.
