The earth has faced fluctuations in its weather since it's inception. Conventional science is supported by conventional funding. One of the ones responsbilbe for this "global warming" doom and gloom is none other than yours truly Maurice Strong.. and his cronies Al Gore (the one who has a 26 room house in the southern United States). With all this science and no one has bothered to look at the main culprit the SUN.. however you can't tax the SUN. Prime example of Hegelian Dialectic. be well
Good point, but I think what I meant was, put simply, all life forms exploit there environment, It's genetic. tree,s produce oxygen for a good reason..Because it make more trees it benefits. and in turn, life makes life. and sometimes other life forms benefit from exploiting that fact. But we have taken this exploitation to far, and it unjust. and no benefit t gaia and we will pay. But have we gone beyond the point of no return. was it written in our instruction to self destruct,
I think, man's intervention was inevitable.sadly it's within our nature to exploit, it's written in our genes and way pass our need to just survive . 99% of us would just stand there and watch as the big wave come in so to speak. But there are a few who would exploit it and again they may survive.
We know Extinction is inevitable one day. But the question is are we are capable of controlling ourselves or are we beyond self reason. what if it is mans last stand.
Nonsense. The very act of breathing contribute 24% of our carbon footprint! We're too many people, on far more levels than most people can comprehend. Even if we brought down globalization and became millions of micro communities, we'd still be facing a catastrophic collapse of the ecosystem.
@mhirtes12 - The enviornmentalist do not want to "Auschwitz mass-murder" people. The point is that the side effects man-made changes to the environment may cause widespread loss of life due to mass migration, famine and war. Lovelock and people like him are just "whistleblowers" - passing the bad news. He pretty much say we should be prepared for the worst. If you still belive in "World conpiracy of environmentalists" look at what happend at Copehagen Climate Change summit.
Of course you are correct but I have to say that there are many hysterical, paranoid nut jobs out there with no scientific background. Almost all of them American it seems, which is a sad indictment of the educational deficit in the US these days. Perhaps they are just comments from the mentally ill. It is totally outrageous to equate this man's motives to those of genocidal Nazis. That alone illustrates the lunatic nature of the people who make them.
I agree. Being myself an town planner and young scientist I try to follow the whole climate change debate and Lovelock's point of view is really appealing. Sadly, climate sceptics are not limited to US and I doubt it has anything to do with level of education. It's just denial and happens everywhere. What can you expect when Lovelock hurls his doom and gloom sermon - reduction of global population levels and mass migrations and (probably) no redemption :)
This man is a dangerous lunatic! He wants to abolish all democracy and condemn humanity to enslavement to a handful of environmentalist dictators with the power to mass-murder millions of people Auschwitz-style in some horrid mission to "save the planet".
@OrgonVpH7 You sir, are a moron... Venus project is not realistic, extremists like you will never be taken seriously. You obviously know absolutely nothing about the UN other than what Zeitgeist or some other conspiracy theorist documentary put together by a micheal moore wannabe has told you. YOU must do YOUR research.
The earths ability to (sort of) support a population of 7 billion is grounded in our practices, without the technologies that are destroying the earth such (continued)
@mtaj1981 (continuation) agribusiness, factory farming, power generation, etc (Hence the population increase of 5 billion in just over 100 years)... Population and practices are BOTH problems, do not be so linear and skeptical in your thought processes.
@OrgonVpH7 Your comments are arrogant and you, like many humans are full of hubris. Good luck with the Venus Project, but I think your utopia is lacks human understanding.
GW is a consequence of measures humans have taken to multiply their numbers, i.e. liberating stored energy to cheat compared to the rest of nature which is confined to using the suns energy only.
VP is populist, overoptimistic nonsense - telling people what they want to hear.
You're WRONG. GW is due to OUR BEHAVIOUR in this NASTY ENVIRONMENT induced by governments economic policies over time. The United Nations recognizes this huge ecological problem they created and their solution is kill 80% of the population. The UN is about CORRUPTION, MORE CORRUPTION, EUGENICS, WAR ... Hardcore fascist communist corporatism mob.
I'm not sure you're right here walter. You do well in pointing out Lovelock's clever use of linguistics, which induce a sense of urgency, but 'global heating' is his renaming of 'global warming'. He has not renamed the greenhouse effect, for that is a process of positive feedback which keeps the earth around 32degrees C warmer than it would be without GH gases.
Makes sense that the climate will cool a little bit with all the glaciers and ice melting and floating around in the ocean ! The earth is trying to cool things off , yet what happens when all the ice is melted ? Also why not call it global polluting ? Arent sceptics afraid were poisoning ourselves !
It's such a shame that this video, and others of James Lovelock have been viewed by so few people.
I would hope everyone posts them on their facebook or myspace. It's more important than ever that messages like this are brought to the publics attention.
James Lovelock is a great communicator, and if people were given the facts as he sees them they might not be so complacent to think that recycling their milk cartons once a week is enough to save the Earth.
well your partly right. we need to stop 'peddling bullshit' (as the increased methane emissions and deforestation from mass cattle farming is adding to climate change) but we already have lives we're trying to make them better.
I agree that we should not feel guilty about the situation we face...
If this future is going to happen then I believe the re localization towns and transition towns are going to be critical in our attempts to adapt...community is going to be critical to bind us together in forms that are able to survive the volitility unleashed by the changing climate ....good luck to us all

how's the throwing arm Dan ?
donnyab 1 year ago
@danmarino1970 -
yes, the Sun is getting hotter, +30% over 3 billion years.
This is why the earth evolved mechanisms to reduce C02 levels to compensate over these geological timespans, we've come along and reversed them.
the observation "the sun is warming" doesn't debunk MMGW, it's part of the full gaia theory.

The point about global dimming is ironic.
If we stop burning fossil fuels, the soot no longer reflects heat away and we get faster warming due to the C02 we already emitted.
We are past the point of no return.
I pity anyone being born today.
walter0bz 1 year ago
@walter0bz The co2 levels would start to drop gradually after we stop burning the fossil fuels.

what i dont like is how it is always the people who have to pay, like this carbon tax.
i agree we need to cut down our footprint and all the bad shit the people who are running shit are doing.
stop cutting down fucking insane amounts of rainforest everyday and try find a balance.
but all the ideas and talks are not going to do anything while the elite are pushing through their agenda.
get rid of them then we can roll up our sleeves and fix our planet

Global warming is an ecological unbalance, product of our behaviour, not excess of population.
Don't be stupid! You shouldn't believe in this ignorant eugenicist or any politician.
United Nations is a criminal organization, they want to reduce world population, then microchip you and reset the economy with one world currency.
The only solution is The Venus Project. Do your research properly.

Here's a venture:
Let's grab those empty oil tankers
Go to Iceland/Greenland and
Catch that melt-water before it merges with the Sea
Ship water to dry regions like Africa/China/even America
feasible?
It's my "Earth Bi-pass" idea...
