I am so proud to be an Aussie. I live in Holland, but am going to join up around october. Thinking of Military Academy, but Special Ops (If I'm capable) would be the toughest, most awesome challenge ever, and you get to jump outta planes.
If i'm not mistaken but our current Fighter is the F/A-18 Hornet, and we have ordered around 24 F/A-18E/F Super Hornets each costing around $55mill(unless thats gotten canned) while an F-22 Raptor costs $150mil each. As far as i know the Australian military budget is around $17-$20billion.

well you really need to go on the ADF website but basicly..
You do your kapooka training, then you go to a week of weapons training. then 4 weeks of tough comando training, then 3 weeks of parachute training. Then a week of rope training, then 1 week of explosives training, then 3 weeks of medical training, then 1 week of specialists training (which is you pick a special area, demolitions, radio etc) and thats about it i think

before world war 2 russia was the only country that trained civilians and military personnel to shoot guns. hence when the war kicked off in russia there where alot of russians that could already fire very accurately. the best snipers in the world are royal marine commando and parachute regiment snipers. that is fact and the first 2 shots of gulf war 2 where fired by 2 royal marine snipers over 1500 yards aiming 30ft to the right of there targets cos of cross winds. both hitting there targets.

It's an F88 Austeyr. And there are variants to it. Look it up in wikipedia.

These soldiers are usually trained to be able to fire with both hands alternately so they can still hide well behind the covers while shooting.
If you use your left hand to fire an Austeyr F88 for righthander , your chin will be hit by heatened cartridges from casing rejection.

if you ever had any brains, stealth don't appear on the SAMs radar, rather the radar just sees something at the littlest part. Or a just a small jump but thats about it. Not having a tail for an aircraft means the SAM won't pick it up as much.
yes you're right the LATEST soviet sams can shoot down stealth planes but to realise this: that's just the lastest, they can always be curbed.

Yes, but most of those orders were from the Howard gov. anyway. However, I might change my mind about Rudd if he scraps the Super Hornet and F-35 deals and lets the RAAF choose what they want, instead of having inferior planes they don't want thrust upon them (thank you very much Brendan Nelson)

We should have those American stealth fighter planes. They look so much better than the planes we originally have plus they can't (99.99% of the time) be hit by SAMs. Making it safer. The onboard computers help the pilot too.

I really loved woerking with The Aussies in Iraq and in Queensland. Its so long for them though....Labor Party taking over :( I'm, going to really miss thier humor and expertise. Hopefully we can still get together for training exercises and whatnot but who knows with the left taking over. I know there is a real strong opposition to the military in Australia

And the Australian Army, is rated as one of the best in the world. Ask any English blokes that have served with us, and they'll tell you they'd do it again. No theie not train by the SAS, they are a complete different branch. They go together for the basic specail forces test thats bout it, The commandos are known for the fast acting, their moto strike swiftly, they are also the counter terrorist unit, SAS is more of the decilcate situation people, thats why they were over in east timor, they have to keep calm but at the same time be ready, the commandos are more of the hammer.

ok 4 RAR are The 4th Battallion, Royal Australian Regiment. In 1996 the decision was made to turn them in to a special forces unit and as of 1st feb 1997 they have been known as 4th RAR(COMMANDO).

before world war 2 russia was the only country that trained civilians and military personnel to shoot guns. hence when the war kicked off in russia there where alot of russians that could already fire very accurately. the best snipers in the world are royal marine commando and parachute regiment snipers. that is fact and the first 2 shots of gulf war 2 where fired by 2 royal marine snipers over 1500 yards aiming 30ft to the right of there targets cos of cross winds. both hitting there targets.
