Great singing, great fun, and I had to smile at the costume: Why shouldn't great music performances have a comedy component, too!? It left me very happy indeed to hear the great Ms. Hallenberg making this her aria.
a "copy" because she sings the same repertory? La Bartoli is not the only one who is allowed to sing Farinelli-arias, and not he only one who is allowed to wear flashy costumes. And indeed, bravissima for this interpretation!
@DrPrunesquallor73 To both you and @vivacecilia I would like to say this: This is not a Farinelli-aria. Händel never had the privilege to work together with him. But indeed I agree, Cecilia Bartoli has not a monopoly on this kind of castrati and baroque repertoire.
@idaspe I think it just a choice they did for the encores...As if the Encore are something else not again strictly on the Farinelli theme cause Believe me, I think that christophe Rousset who did the music of the movie Farinelli knows perfectly well that the aria wasn't written for Farinelli...he's not a beginner in this repertory...

@phainopepla95
The costume is not for comedy...it's kind of like what a Castrati would have worn in a baroque opera when playing a general/warrior/king/god.

There are many reasons why was this aria chosen as the first encore.

I am still amazed of the abilty of professional singers to do everything they do LIVE. Without goofing up. And apparently even enjoying themselves.

What an amazing and terrifying outfit. Nice singing. Ruggiero's huge da capo aria from Alcina right?

Do you know why "Sta nell' Ircana" in a Farinelli recital, when it was a Carestini aria? Or where they -also- talking about Farinelli rival(s)?
