@dMITIC I disagree. While the DS version was fairly simple to control, my visual impairment made the dual-screen setup really hard to work with. The only thing you can't do is lift your hand and tap somewhere else to move the wisp. Aside from that, the controls really aren't that bad. Of course, in the end both of our points of view are opinions, so I'm not going to push the topic. You have your belief on the idea, I have mine.
@spotieotie Well, it's part of Sting's Dept. Heaven series of games. It's not so much complicated as it is unforgiving, truth be told. It's just a strategy RPG with shmup mechanics (well, dodging bullets at least).
I got a PSP Go for exactly the same reason. I enjoy it much more when I can have a lot of my games at once and the decreased loading times makes it a lot more enjoyable. The only downside is that it's a bit more annoying to function since the L and R buttons are up behind the back of the screen. Tends to make my fingers fall asleep faster but it's still not annoying enough to make me want a regular PSP again.
@theKGB1000 If memory serves, that's the game's "Attack warning". When a monster's icon gets to the top of the bar on the left side of the screen, it's their turn to attack and they flash to indicate to you that an attack is incoming from that creature. And don't worry, I don't mind answering questions; I just hope I'm not giving the wrong answers! As said, it's been a long time since I played.
@Chronosv2 I am getting this game for the first time and I noticed that you obtained weapons of different elements. Are certain elements stronger than others on the battlefield (Ex fire over ice, ice over fire etc)
@theKGB1000 Yes. Each weapon element has its advantages over enemies vulnerable to that element. I highly recommend going through the in-game tutorials if you haven't already: while they may not be the most exciting thing in the world, it's been a while since I've played so I forget all the elemental charts.
@theKGB1000 Leveling characters is useful to a degree, but I personally use it as a way to restore some vitality, as that's the only way to recover. It allows you to keep your higher law/chaos tendency characters for longer. Of course, don't go overboard leveling either: each character has a maximum level that can only change through soul transfers. And some characters start LOSING stats after a certain point. Hm... should I make a tutorial for the game?
@theKGB1000 Thank you for the compliment! I can't really say that I'm really that good at the game, but I do enjoy it quite a bit. It's one of those games that's so different from everything else that it practically begs to be played.
@Chronosv2 Ok, I understand all your points about leveling up characters, but since you use characters, you also use weapons that are assigned to each character, which would mean that you are reducing the durability of your weapons. So, would you generally lose a lot of weapons when leveling up?
@theKGB1000 When you go into the "Leveling Session" menu item, you're given items for the Guest characters to use. You can use those Guest characters and the weapons they're given to build EXP and get more equipment for you to merge with your low-durability gear. I've salvaged quite a few items that way.
@theKGB1000 Guest Characters are nameless Knights that don't have any part in the story. The only exist for the mission they're summoned on, and the game will only allow you to use them in Leveling Session mode or if you don't have enough Knights for a story mission. Either way, use them or not, once the level ends they're gone. They're basically free units. Use them to gather equipment in Leveling Sessions and then they disappear.
@theKGB1000 Sorry this reply was so long in coming... My laptop's fan died, leaving me with a nice heavy overheating paperweight.
Unfortunately, there is no alternate control method. The analog nub is actually the best method for control, as 8-way movement with the D-Pad would limit your mobility drastically.
Hi when I go to the leveling option, I get a number of nameless duelists but no duelist weapons. Once I got four warriors and a bunch of weapons but none of them were warrior compatible. How am I suppose to play?
do not get a PSP go - it does not accept videogame cartrages and the only available games are on the playstation store. This is why I got a 2000 model.
@doombybbr You're 2 months late. I never used UMDs on my PSP-3000 anyway, (going to pick up games takes 1-2 hours since I have to walk) and 95% of games released these days are on the PSN. The only game I'd technically be missing out on would have been Kingdom Hearts BBS, which honestly never interested me since I never got into KH to begin with. So I'm enjoying my Go. Being able to plug it into the TV and using a PS3 controller does wonders for me, since I'm visually impaired. Thanks though.
@harajukustar If I can get my PSPgo's video out setup working properly I'll be making a lot of video footage today, so I'll be sure to work on a video explaining how Knights in the Nightmare works and how to better strategically play.
(addendum) What I mean by this, I guess, is that I'm supposed to be getting the cradle so it can charge while it displays to my TV/recording hardware. Without that cradle I'd be running on battery power, which wouldn't be good for my recording efforts.
Thanks for the vid. I'm trying to view some PSP-version gameplay vids to see if this is a game I want to buy. Still not sure. It looks fairly fun but I'm still in the "wtf is going on?!" camp.
@depward I know it's 4 days late, but if you're still in the WTF is going on camp I will be posting an explanation video sometime soon. Just need to start on the Cladun Let's Play I've finally gotten all the kinks ironed out of.
@SnowyPigs Glad I could show this awesome game to everyone. I had this for the DS but didn't have a way to show it. Now that there's a PSP version, I plan on doing a playthrough of it... after my Cladun LP anyway.
controlling the whisp in the psp feels horrible imo compared to the ds version
i have no idea why the hell they ported this game to the psp

Just one more question: What does it mean when an enemy in a slot starts flashing, like that fairy did that you had to kill to complete the turn?

One more question: Would recommend leveling for inexperienced units in this game?

@Chronosv2 Also, what did you mean when you said that characters start to lose stats after a while? I was just sort of curious....

@Chronosv2 Are there any 'alternate controls' for this game? 'Cause the thumb analog stick on my PSP is shit (far as I'm concerned)
