  • The first time I heard this, I was at a wedding. The mom was singing it to her daughter, it was so beautiful. I love this song -3

  • OMG I love this song because the first time I heard it I was crying!! =')

  • I love this song and it makes me cry every time I hear it because I heard why he,write the song. it is such a sad story and I send my thoughts and prayers to Steven and his family.

  • I heard awhile back that this song was about the death of a little girl? she was outside one day and her brother was pulling out of the driveway in his car and he ran over her? That's similar to what the story is about, right?

  • Ok if I was 21 I would have this in my wedding but I'm not that age yet and I don't have anyone I love except there is only one guy in my life an that's my dad I love u dad

  • I don't know how he cam sing this without bawling

  • @YURiiXiiA

Couldn't have spoken it better myself

  • I danced to this with my dad at my wedding (song he picked), not a dry eye at the reception.

  • Makes me so sad to know his daughter died shortly after this song was released. I just can't listen to it the same way..

  • My dad hates me :(

So my mom is the figure in this song. LOVE IT BTW

  • @JMHufnagle Your dad doesn't hate you.

He loves you! Maybe he just doesn't know how to show it for you.

By the way, you've got someone that loves you as more as your dad would love you. It's God!

He showed His love at the Cross.

He shows it everyday, don't you see? Don't you feel it?

be happy, HE DOES LOVE YOU! :)

  • Dad i love u

  • I'm walking down the aisle to this next month :)

  • This song is beautiful!

  • Daddy,

My prince charming will one day come...

  • My daughter just sent me the link to this, and told me she wanted this to be our father-daughter dance at her wedding. OMG, I bawled like a baby. I don't stand a chance!!!

I just love Steve Curtis Chapman. "Go There With You" and "The Great Adventure" are also awesome songs.

  • this song really does have an important meaning that became so much more important to 2 daddies in our town this last september.

their baby girls didn't make it past 18 and 20. they had just left to go see a movie like they always do. and they just hit a wet patch in the road and that was that. they hydroplaned and hit a truck. and they were both killed instantly.

appreciate your baby girls because they don't have theirs anymore.

  • this is an awesome song!!! if you've got a second, check out me singing it on my channel :)

  • I cried :)

  • This makes you realize how important your mother and father really is I lost my mother in April of 2003 and now my Father has been fighting cancer for the past 3 years and I can image what I will do without him.True fathers stand by you through the good times and bad.So ,I just wanting to remind everyone how important your Mother and Farther really are because once their gone its never the same

  • I used this as my father daughter dance in my wedding. My dad hates to dance in public so, by the end my mom joined us and we had a family dance to make him more comfortable, but the fact he danced with me on my special day infront of everyone ment a lot, Love You Daddy!!!

  • This makes me want to cry because I did the same thing when I was little. I am a major daddy's girl. I love my daddy and idk what I would do without him here. <3

  • @supersexiscisors Aww! Bless your heart! :) <3

  • Although I am a metalhead and I am an Atheist, this is one of my favorie songs in history.

  • @NeoAndyDS Nothing wrong with being a metalhead. Does being a metalhead imply you can't like pretty sentimental songs also? As for the Atheist thing God still believes in you. This isn't a Christian or religious song at all in my opinion so I see nothing inconsistent with you liking it.

  • @TristanandIsolt Yeah well, thing is I like this guy in general, not just this song. I like a lot of his actual religious songs. I think I like this guy for the same reason I should hate him, as ironic as that sounds. I just don't like how some people use God as an excuse to move on, but for some reason I like it on him even thought I believe he will be highly disappointed in the end. I don't know if you know, but he lost a child before. Must be one of the most painful things in the world.

  • @TristanandIsolt (continuation. The post box is so small). I also appreciate your words. "Even if you don't believe in God, he believes in you". I obviously can't agree with you, but thanks a bunch for being one of the few believer who don't label me as a bad person just because I am an atheist.

  • i cried like a baby... then i ran downstairs and hug my dad like the big teddy bear he is

  • This is so beautiful! I am currently watching Angel TV and it's on Youth Network. Love it so much! Thank you for sharing!!! God Bless!

  • This song brings tears to my eyes but it the most beautiful song I have heard. It makes me think about my daughter as she grows so fast, too soon.

  • I would kill to see him live! :( I love this song!

  • this song really makes you want to cry the first time I heard it I got all teary.who wouldn't love Steven.

  • Such a beautiful and a touching song.

Makes me in tears everytime I listen to it.

  • I just LOVE this video....EVERYTIME I hear it I cry.......when I hear this song I think about my own daugther & how quick time has flown from the time she was a newborn baby 2 a young adult with children of her own. This is really an awesome song..........Thank you God 4 giving this 2 Steve Curtis Chapman & Thank you Steve 4 being an instrument 4 God 2 get HIS LOVE & PEACE out 2 the nations.

  • it makes my dad cry

  • @MrGoldenhero And I think I know the reason why you think so. It makes you almost cry, and if your friends saw that you like this song, it would embaras you. You would be seen as weak. Well let me say that as a guy it us alright to mourn. In fact, it shows that you actually do care for others, and people appreciate that.

  • The graphic on the screen was nice, this song makes me cry.

  • i luv this song

  • HE IS SO AWSOME

  • I have 7 daughters and I dread letting even one of them go, so I am getting my dances in while I can :)

  • This is one of the prettiest and saddest songs I have heard. Ever. I am definitely using this song at my wedding!

  • @Katy134 Me too! I want my Dad and I to dance to this song together at my wedding, if God has someone for me in the future. :)

  • @Katy134 me too

  • amo esta cancion!! snif snif!! TE QUIERO PAPAAAAAAA!!! u_u

  • huh???

  • i was there. it was at harvest. i was in one of the overflow rooms but i wish i could have been in there. but still i loved it.

  • I am missing my beautiful 6 year old daughter right now....we just listened to this song together over the phone and both of us cried. My wife and kids are helping friends out of state for two months due to health issues. My daughter already told me that I am going to sing and dance with her to this song at her wedding....lol

  • I love this song. The Christian station plays it a lot. and it frustrates my dad because he doesn't understand how it's relevant to Christianity. But either way, it's my plan that this will be the father/daughter dance at my wedding reception.

  • i agree, its mine to

  • i've decided as soon as i heard this song me and daddy will dance to it, i cry everytime

  • It is 'christian' because Steve C. Chapman was inspired to write this song after a revelation from God.

  • i'm getting married on august 28th 2010, and my dad was the one who heard this song first.....he tells me he tries to listen to it everyday to build up an immunity to it so when we dance at my wedding he doesnt cry....so cute.....cant wait for next august ;) love this song.....i might need to build up an immunity to it as well :)

  • this song reminds me of my crush (sigh)

  • It is so touching

  • its sad that its about his daughter that died when she waz a little kid,

  • really? i never knew that i just know about this song and its beautiful. i love it. how did the daughter die? :(

  • their son accidently hit her in their own driveway she was behind the car when he backed up.............

  • I cry at this song because my dad might even make it to my graduation and I really wanted him to be at my wedding, if I have one.

He won't, I know that much is true.

  • oh my

  • I love this song! My husband and I are expecting baby #4, we have 3 boys and I know how much he wants to have his little "princess"! Don't know if it is a boy or girl yet, might have one shot after this one at a girl. Otherwise 4 or 5 princes would be just fine!!

  • this is an awesome song steven you rock!

  • went to see him on Saturday in concert...he played this song...i cried...it happened to be the anniversary of my older brother's death, my mom was with me at the concert, he was 6 when he passed, I was 2...it was so touching to hear him speak about the tragic incident and to play the song...absolutely beautiful...death separates us...but only for a short while, one day we'll be with my brother again, and Steve will dance with his precious Maria again also!

  • this makes me cry so much it's scarty. makes me think of my dad and just how much i love him. thank you very much!

  • my best friend taught his daughter privatley dance lessons(the one that died) and now she can not listen to this song at all:[

she's really my cinderella but now she's gone from my life forever....

  • ok i know i sounded retarded but look when your me and you have nothing to be happy for...you'll understand

  • look Alicia I don't know you but know we all have sad moments or times in our lives, see this guy S.C.C. he lost one of his daughters and had every reason to blame God but he didn't. All I can tell you is God has an answer for your problem you only have to truly seek Him, give God a chance and if you need help am sure anyone of us will be happy to help. Blessings.

  • i love this song!! at my aunt and uncle's wedding, i got to dance to this with my grandpa. My uncle planned it all out it was the flower girl so cute) then me , then my aunt. in the end my uncle came and got her. it was so pretty!!

  • This has to be the saddest song in the world. It's about his daughter, who passed away as she was accidentally struck by her brother pulling out of the driveway. Hopefully this gives the song a little more meaning! It gets to me every time. It's great at least that he can tell the world her story in what's probably become his greatest hit.

  • this is such a deep song.

    i love it.

especially when the little girl says

"theres a ball and the castle, and ive been invited,

and i need to practice my dancing"

it reminds you how little girls imaginations

    work. its an outstanding song.

    remember your Father(:

  • Its so sad.. one of his daughters died..

"the clock will strike midnight.. and she'll be gone.."

Well.. i guess this song was from god because he made this before his daughter died at a young age.

she was only 5 and her brother ran over her with his truck :(

godbless him and his family. I'm sure it was so heartbreaking. =(

  • I'm not saying your theory about God is wrong, but from what I heard ( so you can believe or not, you can choose), he was quite annoyed with his adopted children behaving silly - as most of the parents do.

But his daughter one day came back and said about her marriage and he realised how quickly children grow and wrote about that, remembering about love and don't forget...clock will strike mid night one day.

It's a really deep song, I love it.

  • Yeah.. I know...

I'm just saying that, yes it refers to that. But it also goes with his daughters story too..

when he says "The clock will strike midnight and she will be gone" Well, his daughter is gone for good. And shes never coming back. its just so sad how he had no idea she would die..so this kinda relates to that too... =(

  • True that.

I wish my dad and I were that close.

When you're Alive, Death is always right beside you ae.

By the way, I like your user-name. I love cats, lol.

  • lol thanks me too :D

    i just got a a kitten like a week ago :)

    her name is "bubbles" ahah

  • Really? Cool =)

I got a black/white cat named Peter - he was a stray, but he came to our house.

Recently, he brought a rat home...yeah......

  • I went to austin last year to see him and got the surprise caleb and will franklin were there then could not believe the tragedy that eventually happened.

  • He means the prince never knew

she would be gone so fast.

    i agree it's a good song.

    -Josh L Ballinger

  • i love my dad to when ever i hear this song i can picture him and me dancing to this im only thirteen and ive gone through abuse i just want to dance with my daddy i want him to see me grow up and now when ever i hear this i stay up all night in a corner of my bed against the wall crying because all i have now is my imagination i can see me laughing me&m daddy dancingbecause ima princess and mydad the ownsthe castle andeveryone comes tothe bal andwatch us dancei stay up allnight crying

  • OMG i was crying b/c i thought my dad didnt spend enough time with me and was too stressed out with work and bills and stuff... i also cried b/c God was letting him know ahead of time that she would be gone... i think that is sooo amazing.. but i am so sorry.... and i wish that you had ana amzing dad who loved you.. but you can always remember, God is the perfect father.. and he does love you more than ANYTHING keep up your good oving strength(: you go mattloverer(:

  • look god doesnt love me he damned me to my life and doesnt give a fuck i wish i could have been someone else god doesnt love me he doesnt even care he could care less...and my name is alicia

  • Haven, it may be hard for you to understand since your life is not turning out like you hoped right now, but God does love you and has a plan for you. When you are tired of running and living the way you are now and feel empty and used up inside and don't know where to turn, just find a place to be alone and talk to Him. He is always listening, and you will be able to hear what He is saying to you if you really stop long enough to listen. I know you probably don't care right now, but someday...

  • i love this song!!

but what does he mean when he said

"i know something the prince never new" ??? cuz i dont get that part so if you let me know that would be great!

  • in my opinion, maybe that means he knew his daughter(cinderella) a lot than anybody else..^_^

  • When the Prince met Cinderella, he didn't know that she'd be gone at midnight. As parents, he's reminding us that we know our children grow up, so don't miss the moments!

  • i don't like my father, but my step dad and i danced to this at my father daughtr dance, i am glad i have my step dad cuz my bio dad was never near me for the first 12 years of my life til my parent devorsed..=[ so my step dad is my dad

  • almost the same thing happened to me. my grandpa and i used to be best friends, but then when i turned 6, he "devorced" (he's too cheep to pay for a real one) he left! He came back last year, and he's pretending like i know him!! He missed like, half my life and he doesn't spend time with us. He's dating some slut now... my step-grandma actually respects us

  • ha, was at a wedding yesterday where hte bride's father was singing this to her during their dance

  • my girls love this sing.

  • I get depressed when I hear this song. My dad walked out of my life. =(

  • i am sooo srry

  • Just so you know your "Father" has never left you! He is always there for you and always will be!!!

  • i just saw him at Women of Faith and he sang this and i cried bc he has such strong passion for God and it comes out in his music even though his daughter dies he has the streanght to sing this and help people .

  • i was there too

  • I think my heart just melted. This sooo sweet.

  • This song touches me very much in my heart & soul....to Curtis & family....may the Lord bless you all and give you strength and joy.

  • i admire him so much for singing this son live. it must be very hard. RIP marie sue chapman. we know youre with God looking over us. :)

  • this was before the accident I havent seen him sing it since...if so bravo i couldnt do it.

  • Yes, he has been singing it live. I saw him last fall. There have been lots of tears at his shows in the past 10 months. :(

  • he did ... at her funeral. that would be even harder.

  • I pray that his heart isn't heavy with mourning for his lost little Cinderella that is already gone

  • this song made me cry :(

but im going 2 dance it

    with my daddy in my

    quinceanera♥

  • this song makes me cry every time

    what an amazing song.

  • i heard in the radio once last year and i download it in my phone and its still fun 2 hear it

    2009 alex

  • I heard this on the radio yesterday and I just loved it ! I'm getting married soon and I just found my song to dance to with my dad!

  • My daughter is getting married May 30 and this is the song...she just doesn't know it. Said I get to pick it. Just trying to figure out how to hold the tears back now...

  • Congratulations on your daughter's marriage. You must be so proud of her, and this is the perfect song to be playing.

  • yes and how true it is.. love it! hope my little girl uses this for her wedding dance with her father in September!

  • this song is really sad since his daughter died... but he will be able to dance with her one day when Christ comes back and takes him home to see his little girl.

  • HAHAHA im listinig to this song on my brand new laptop!!! merry christmas everybody!!!

  • i love this song its happy and sad and i love it

  • i feel so bad for the family and the brother that ran her over......he mist feel soooo guilty

  • i can drum this song.

    it is sad about maria.

    michael brian

  • its amazing he can still sing it. Its realy weird that he wrote this song about her before she died and if u listen to the words it sounds like he wrote it after she died, expecialy the clock will strike midnight and shell be gone part.

  • I LOVE DIS SONG!!!!

  • love you Steven. thank you for being such a true reflection of Christ.

  • great song! <33333

  • so sad...i wonder if he can still sing this song despite his daughters' death :(

  • aww how did she die?

  • He DOES still sing Cinderella! :-) He says it's because he knows he WILL dance with his youngest daughter Maria again someday ~ in heaven.

He wrote the song for ALL 4 of his daughters including his oldest, Emily (22), who just got married on 10/4/08.

For those who don't know about the tragedy, his 5 yr. old little girl died after being accidentally run over in the driveway by her 17 yr. old brother.

They have 6 kids (3 by birth & 3 adopted "princesses" from China)
