I think Ms. Janusz has really benefited from traveling with her PR field. She has gained a lot of world experience and been able to expand her horizons!
I am interested in both the fields of PR and Advertising and I like how I can relate to Ms. Fields and know that doing both is possible! They go hand in hand with each other and she gave great advice on how to do both and be successful within them!
It was interesting to hear how her job transitioned from PR to advertising. Both are fields that interest me and I hope to experience both like Ms. Janusz.
I really liked the fact that she brought up how much she really learned by working with a small group rather than a large group. I really think that shows how much you can do as well as the other people you're working with.
I think it's great that Ms. Janusz has worked in many different PR capacities. She had worked from agricultural to hanson dodge and many other companies. She was able to broaden her knowledge with the same skill sets. I think the lessons she's derived from her first jobs are important: communication, conflict resolution, etc. It's interesting that she developed into liking client relations, since that's not where she originally thought she would be.
I liked how Ms Janusz addressed that many PR frims specialize in different areas. Being a political science and public relations major, I want to specialize in government relations material at a firm. Ms. Janusz reminded me that I should really focus on that aspect of PR but not limit myself to it while looking for jobs. I need to keep an open mind and try roles outside my direct interst. Thanks for your insight!
I really like that Anna has had a variety of jobs in the PR industry. Going from the healthcare industry to the construction industry seems like it could be a drastic jump. But it really shows how well rounded that she is as a professional. I think being a well rounded professional is extremely important into today's workforce.
Job experience is essential to get your career job. Employers want people with real world experience. Previous employment taught her communication, how to handle situations which are the types of things that you have to learn how to do. DM
I didn't think traveling was a huge part in PR but hearing Stephanie talk about it made me think it could be really interesting. I think that her experiences with different jobs were very entertaining. I hope to settle more on one job but to get in a job you love, you need to work in different settings before you find out what you really want to do.
It seems as though event planning is such a huge part of any PR firm. In whatever job I end up in after school I hope that I have the opportunity to travel. Achieving those travel aspirations would be even better if it was done so through event planning and other PR things of that nature.
I am looking for an internship at a smaller place because I agree that if there are fewer people not only do you get the chance to really carry your own weight you get a better hands on learning experience.
It seems like she has a lot of experience in communications and she was lucky to be able to travel as much as she did. It seems that her previous jobs helped her figure out what she truly wanted to do for a career.
Good to see how Anna gradually came to work for Red Arrow after working for different firms. The transition was one that she didn't really see but her experience and persistance enabled her to land a job at Red Arrow. PR students should never give up the job hunt!
I've personally never even heard of RedArrow before but she seems like she knows a little bit of everything from marketing to advertising to building media relations.
Her expierences in the work environment are interesting because she has done almost everything that has prepared her for the PR field. She states to keep in mind that not each speciality is the same and that you should have an open mind to whatever it is that your working on.
I find it exciting that she has work experience in politics. It seems like she has a lot of internships when she was in college. I also find her job interesting because she has the opportunity to travel and meet new people.
I thought it was cool how Anna Janusz has done a lot of event planning and being able to travel as part of her job. I also think it's great how adaptable she is from different jobs she has had in the past and present. She emphasizes on experiences lead you to great opportunities.
It was useful to hear that a good thing to keep in mind is that a lot of agencies have different specialty areas and to keep an eye out for that. I like that her job consisted of event planning and traveling.
Anna seems very knowledgeable and as she has a lot of experience in different work environments. Her job changes seem to help her a lot to get where she is now and she seems as she really enjoys her job.
Anna seems to have a lot of experience with working at different places. She also shows that even if you major in one thing, that doesn't mean that you are going to work in that career.
Anna's interview is very interesting. I like how she spoke about her first job and how because it was so small everyone pitched in and so she got more experience. This is something I really hope to get as well.
Anna seems like she has had a great journey to where she is now. It shows me that I shouldn't expect to get into a company that I will stay with forever. Through all of her jobs, she has gained a lot of experience and that is something that I hope to achieve as well.
Having different jobs will teach you many different skill sets, much more than someone who works multiple jobs that entail the same responsibilities. This is proof that even though you might not start with the type of job you would prefer, having a UW-W degree will greatly improve your odds of landing some sort of related job.
She had so many different kind of jobs that gave her great learning experience. And through her interview you realize that communications is good for any field.
I like that she shows us what work she had to do to get where she is today, Red Arrow is not the only job she had, she had to work through some other jobs to get where she is today.
Ms. Janusz interview was very interesting because she has held many different positions and tried out many different things but ended up in Advertising which is what my major is. Through all her careers though it sounds like communication was the basic foundation so that is very encouraging to hear.
This interview was interesting because she done a lot of variety things within PR, like event planning, trade, and media relations. I can see how PR can ease its way into advertising. I'm glad though that communications is basically a great foundation for any field.
I like that Ms. Janusz has worked in PR for a variety of different companies. I'm glad to see that she's not scared of change and new experiences that come with the new company she works at. I like that she received all different types of situations at the various companies so she has more to build her resume up with.
I like how Anna said that her previous jobs have taught her a lot about communication. I also liked that she said that when she first started out, she only worked with a few other people at her first job. Although it might get stressful, when you're only 1 of 5 people you really get the experience in each field and understand each persons position on the team.
Ana has had a lot of different jobs and it was really interesting to hear about all the different things she has done and the different career options that are available with a PR degree. - Jaime S.
I like how she said that her first jobs taught her communication, how to handle situations, and things that you just learn with experience. There are only so many things you can learn in a class room, but she has had a lot of interesting job experiences.
Even though some of her previous jobs were not in PR, she still linked them to her current job in PR. She emphasizes the importance of taking the things you learned in one job and applying them to another even if it is not in the area that you want to work.
It was hard to see Anna in this video and the sound quality was difficult to keep focused, but Its awesome that she has had so much experience. This makes her very marketable. She said former peers contacted her for the current job which means she networked herself.
She has so many different job experiences which has probably helped her in the career that she has now. The thing that i am curious about is how the employers look at her job experience where she hasnt been there that long so it may not seem like she will stick to the new jobs.? Other then that it sounds like she has got a great amount of experience!
It's interesting that she has so much experience. She is able to go into so many different fields of work and learn so many different things along the way.
I did not care for the camera angle and the dim lighting. I thought it was great in the way that she discussed how imporant internships were. Her experience says a lot about her future work in the pr world.
I like how she discussed how she learned more about what she wanted to do through work experience. It's great that she was able to learn and adapt outside of school.
This video was a litte distracting with the background noise and that she wasn't looking at the camera. The microphone was a little different also. Traveling sounds great, is that a big part of a lot of jobs in PR?
I like how the camera angle of this video shows the city and sky scrapers in the background. In addition to the nice back drop, the video did an excellent job of showing how Anna obtained much of her knowledge and abilities through real world experiences and those are what lead her into the career she is in today.,
Although the video was a tad bit hard to understand, I still got some great points from what Anna was saying. It corresponds to what others were saying about taking a job or internship even if it isn't exactly what you're looking for. She has had a lot of jobs, but one job lead to one experience which lead her to another job. It's a good idea especially for students when they're working way from the bottom up.
Its really hard to understand and see how she is responding to the interviewing questions in this video. Basically what I got from in was that experience is very important when working in the PR field. She also touched on how different fields overlap within the PR world, such as advertising, marketing, managing, sales, etc.. It is important to understand and have a lot of open mindedness and experience. - SH
This video was full of static so it was hard to hear and follow. This video I got nothing from due to the fact she made no eye contact and didnt seem at all interested in her career.
This video was one of my least favorites. It was rather bland and hard to hear with teh static. It was also dark and while she held the microphone she never really looked at the camera. I noticed I was rather bored with this video and didn't take as much from it compared to the others. She didn't seem as excited about her career as others either.
I think that her many different jobs and interests make her a well rounded PR professional. Lots of different jobs can help you gain experience and tell you where you do or don't want to go later in your career.
I have to agree with Allison on this...I think eye contact towards the camera or hand gestures would have made more impact. Yes, job experience is good, but if you have a conflicting personality all your work is in vain. You have to be patient and willing to work incredibly hard. I'm sorry, but even though she has worked at many, many places I'm still not convinced she has a compatible personality for this career.
She is a great example of doing a variation in Public Relations. Thanks for the advice
