I have no issue with the Yankees getting a new stadium. I love NYS. The design overall represents the old park very well. Few issues I have with it( split upper deck, bland frieze, upper deck doesn't overhang 2nd deck).
What pisses me off is that they tore OYS down completely. They could have saved some of the structure and make it into shops, museum, and restaurant.
Also, Mike is wrong. Renovated Yankee Stadium was still the 1937 Yankee Stadium( when the extensions were finished).

My bro a diehard yankee fan likes Citi field better and they spent double on yankee stadium. the yankee org only appeal to the suits. I went to a game this year and they wouldnt let me go down for bp,, that has never happened to me at any other stadium. The REAL point is that Yankee Stadium was crumbling. They had to cancel some home games and move others to Shea in the early 2000's in order to reinforce some crumbling upper deck sections. It was costing a fortune every off-season in infrastructure upkeep to keep it from falling down.

I'm a big Yankee fan who goes to a handful of games every year. Anyone who thinks they didn't need a new stadium is living under a rock and probably hadn't been to the old stadium in 20 years. By today's standards, it was a DUMP. The new PALACE blows it away.

I went to the new digs this year. Not only is it spacious, but it confirms that the Yanks are a Billion-dollar industry!!!!!! That stadium had to be built. I loved the old one, but it was cramped and falling apart (beam falling off the roof, anyone?). Yes, the tix are outrageous (I paid $90 for a first base line seat!), but an organization like the New York Yankees has to show its evolution (from the House that Ruth Built to a billion-dollar industry!).

And to further iterate my point. I have a 2000 World Series ticket for loge 15. The price was $160 (face). The face value for the translated loge 15 (Main 214B) is $186 for a World Series game (which is actually $12 LOWER in price when considering inflation -- $160 in 2000 would cost $198 in 2008).
Whatever dude, been to 5 of the 30 stadiums in the majors and prices for beer and hot dogs are the same. The average site price is so high because the most expensive seat is over 2 grand. Who has those seats? Sony and Microsoft. They always have had them and they still do. Doesn't hurt the regular fan charging them more. Seat prices for general public for Yanks, Red Sox, Angels are all comparable -- the city of New York made it very clear to keep the prices in the stadium the same and they have.

Whatever dude, been to 5 of the 30 stadiums in the majors and prices for beer and hot dogs are the same. The average site price is so high because the most expensive seat is over 2 grand. Who has those seats? Sony and Microsoft. They always have had them and they still do. Doesn't hurt the regular fan charging them more. Seat prices for general public for Yanks, Red Sox, Angels are all comparable -- the city of New York made it very clear to keep the prices in the stadium the same and they have.

He says in this video that the old Yankee stadium is cramped, but he says now that the new stadium is missing the intimacy and closeness the old ball park had. In this video he says that Fenway park is the worst stadioum to see a ballgame in, yet nowadays he tells everyone it's the best game experience to have and recommends that everyone needs to go to Fenway at least once in their life!
