  • Can we use the sb800 off shoe with this mode (RPT) via the CLS? or with set of cactus v4? You show photos exemple in the end of the video but no setting.

    Thx and happy new year.

  • Yes, only if you have another SB-800 or SB-900 as the master flash.

The reason why we do not provide the settings is because everyone is different.

  • @Lilkiwiguy87 Thx.

  • You can achieve off-camera RPT, just by going manual in both devices (camera and speedlight) on a very long exposure modus, just trigger the shutter at the same time yo press the buttom at the SB-900

  • Yes, but it is not exactly stroboscopic that RPT offers.

Maybe for SB-600, yes. No need to do that with SB-700 / 800 / 900.

  • Is that Brotha IZ singing in the background

  • rpt i wanna

  • Thanks for the great video. I have a SB800 and the problem is sometimes I can't use TTLBL when I attached it on D60. Another thing is when I use M mode, sometimes SB800 cannot detect when I adjust the lens aperture. I have tried both rechargeable battery and also new normal AA battery. Is there any solution for this? Thank you. .

  • It sounds like you're using manual focus lens on your D60 that does not have CPU contacts to communicate with your D60. With a MF lens, it automatically switch your camera to Spot Metering (which loses the iTTL-BL ability) and no communication between the camera and lens (which loses the exposure data such as aperture and focal length). That's our best guess, try putting on a AF-S lens, set for 3D Matrix Metering, then scroll through the apertures to see if anything changes.

  • thanks for the video BTW. I am set up with SB900 on RPT with 1/8 power, 100 ISO, f8, pocket wizards to trigger, 5 times per 10 MZ, But I only get one flash. When I trigger on the flash it repeats, but does not seem to sync with D-90. Any ideas?

  • Nothing's wrong, it's the Pocketwizard. Plus II and MultiMAX can only fire one flash per exposure. Throw the SB-900 on D90's hotshoe or to the D90 via SC-28 / SC-29 iTTL Off-Camera Cord and it will work just fine.

  • very appreciated video..............Thanx! GB

  • great video, helped alot

  • Hi, really useful video, but i'm struggling to work out how to use repeating flash on my SB-900 when its off camera (using the on board flash on my D700 as a commander), any chance of any help?!

  • Unfortunately, the answer is a no, it is not possible. You will need another SB-800 or SB-900 to do this wirelessly.

  • how did u get that wheat thins shot at the end... like how do the wheat thins look like they are flying out of the box?

  • Piece of cake, pour a bowl of wheat thins back into the box while a long exposure (about a second in fully darkened room) with RPT mode enabled. :)

  • Thanx dude, am new to flashes so i need to know more about basics can you recommend me a video or site ;)
