Scott Sheridan from Whitfield High class of 83 looking to make contact with anyone fae Dundee that knows me. I migrated to Oz in 83 and still miss Dundee.
Many thanks for the memories of my auld language. contact me at dundeeboi@adam.com.au
Brulliant! The gemmes we yoosta play was fantastic. We sat and laughed as we recognised what we yoosta dae in the poem! Reelee foe, eh've no played that in tears...anybody fancy a game or even better manhunt. Used to run about Whitfield with my pals playing that and hide in the electric box down at Whitfield Avenue. Give us more of this stuff, it's great. One final thing, my Gran used to say to me when I was getting a cup of tea at her house, " Tac a tuc tak twa." Translate that.
is it no take a tuc ( Tuc biscuit? ) and take two( other word yer allowed two tucs... at a guess that is.. can u tell me what yer gran meant? please cheers....
You are right! She was being very hospitable. 'Tak a tuc tak twa' means, 'Please help yourself to a savoury cheese biscuit, in fact take two young man.' Hope that helps.
@hotmilkydrink ma mums favourite was "awa an git twa plen bridies ananinginaneana" I ken the last long word is broken into 5 seperate words, but this was how she wrote it on the note ;)
