  • How big is your tank, How long did u have it running befor u put mandarin in and how long has the mandarin been in, im settin up a 10 gallon nano and im trying to figure out how to keep a mandarin without starving it to death cause of the lack of live rock and pods...

  • @macruzjr We have a 28 nano and we have had our mandarin for almost 6 months now. I really think it's a bad idea for you to keep a mandarin in a 10 gal. It will most likely die. It took us 2 months to train ours to eat. I don't think you could keep the pod population up while you train it. Look on the internet for mandarins that are trained to eat, and then maybe think about a larger tank cause they really do like to explore and have room to swim around. 28 is almost too small. Good Luck!

  • What if i found one at my LPS that was already trained to eat other food think it would be possible? Cause its such a beautiful fish and 10 gallon is all i can start with right now until i get the cash for a bigger tank

  • @macruzjr

If you find a trained mandarin, make sure you see it eat before you buy it. This way you know for sure. I think you could get away with it. Could you possibly build a refugium?

  • I could try making one in one of the Aquaclear filters i will be using, ganna put on a 50 and a 30....I will def be making a sump refugium when i upgrade the tank, probebly sometime next year, i want to give it a shot with the 10 gallon and really test my skills

  • @macruzjr You have a great plan! Good luck, post some vids when the time comes!
