  • John Lennon, one of my favourite artists talking about Bob Marley, one of other favourite artists, if only they would have played together at some point it would be like a dream come true as far as music goes for me haha :), another one of them if onlys. I wonder if Bob and John ever met? i read on yahoo answers that they never did and i guess the didn't but who knows?

  • "Does anybody know get oop stand oop?"

  • listen ,real tape recorder noise, oh those were the days....

  • john and bob .... is so much!

  • I know a lot of people are wondering about the videotape of these sessions because someone was filming. The widespread rumor was that Yoko destroyed them for whatever reason and if they existed then they probably would've been released by now. There was a story that said that no one in Yoko's camp didn't want them shown because that John didn't look very healthy and he was very thin at the time and that John was very self conscious about how he looked in public.

  • he's so high. on pot.

  • It's so interesting listening to John and company putting the tracks together for what sadly turned out to be his last album. His wide knowledge of composition is clearly evident here. It is great listening to a master compose.

  • Man you can tell how happy he is doing music again

  • CHOCOLATE DOUGHNUTS??? :)

  • bob marley and john have similariy in there life, there father left them at a very young age. bob dies 6 month after john, bob had a seisure in central park, they were both shot, gouverment try to kill them, both were more than musical icon , it s sad that they never meet.imagine that.

ps; oh yeah what douglas earase the night john was shot. somebody know something.

  • wow i enjoy this so much. thanks

  • love the songs from double fantasy, but i think they could really use a remixing, if not some really cool tinkering to take out the best elements. take out the cheesy drums, leave them in a more natural state. they'll sound more true to when they were first created. just listen to that run though after they listen to marley. that guitar and lennons voice would sound good alone. there is so many things they could do to these tapes to make them no sound so polished on record.
  • wtf? then remix it yourself.

what are you thinking complaining about the way Lennon produced his own music?

  • @bushwick FYI they are coming out next month with a remix of this album

  • He was a library of music, with a taste, an open minded, and apperciated the other artists, very very energetic, and fun to be with!

  • shame lennon didnt get together with some other cats.. ENGLISH ones like ELVIS COSTELLO.. MICK RONSON..I ALWAYS THOUGHT THE SONGS ON DF WERE BETTER THAN THE PLAYERS... GREAT TO HEAR THESE TAPES

  • johns such a great guitar player..

  • John Lennon caught red handed using Bob Marley. This does not make him a lesser but a greater man. A great master being influenced by another.

  • @Glidescube it's not like that. The Beatles and John were absolutely open about thier influences. John was always an open admirer of Bob Marley's music. Also he was very talented in making other people's little ideas into his own music in such a way that it sounded so different that people wouldn't notice it.

  • Oh no doubt.John admits that without Elvis there would be no Beatles. He also said he loved Stax lable musicians.

  • @JohnLennon100 What you write here makes sense but I couldn't find my coment to remember what I originally wrote. I couldn't go against your comment because I agree. John was a genius that 70% of the time would find inspiration in other music, usually black, that he he would make his own. He would create an entirely different song out of a basic melody, and actually making it better. Also John was a producer genius. His demos never sounded really impressive, but the final recording was awesome.

  • This is John with little Julian, the first picture

  • How come John sounds different?? ;)

  • sabia q lennon gostava de bob... eu tinha certeza...rsrs

  • I love that first picture

  • This is fascinating stuff. I won't ask how you got it, but I'm sure glad to hear it. John was gifted among the gifted. I admired his work and came close to meeting him professionally when he was suddenly taken from us. Thanks for posting all of this.

  • The speed sounds a little slow to me. Anyhw Thanks for posting the clips I enjoyed it :D

  • Very interesting to hear how John worked in the studio. After all his experience during the Beatle years it was pretty obvious John knew what he wanted and he seemed to like to work fairly quickly. THX for posting once again

  • Walking On Thin Ice was being remixed on the night he died for memory.

You never fail to deliver mate, this is excellent. I love anything from the Double Fantasy sessions, he was just so happy during this period which makes what happened even more painful!

  • @CommodoreRulz you are correct on the "Walking on thin ice" the night he died

  • I wonder where the audio is the night he died?

That would be tragic and beautiful to hear

    at the same time.

This is great stuff! I feel like im in the studio.

  • I heard Producer Jack Douglas erased John's last conversation in the studio on Dec 8.

Neil , Thanks for the studio discussions , demos and the last interviews of John you uploaded. Would you be able to upload the rest of the unedited Dec 6 1980 BBC interview?

  • Sure. I forgot about uploading the rest of that actually. Thanks for reminding me!

  • can you send it to me too please! this is great i'd love to hear the bbc interview.
