@cohnjesse Funny that you say that, because I actually just got, as a gift, a Samsung Captivate (Samsung Galaxy S) on AT&T. There are a lot of things I miss from the Pre, but I love the screen, video, photos and SPEED of the captivate. The Swype keyboard has been an awesome replacement of a physical keyboard.
your the 1st person i have heard to mention a dead pixel or a bad charger seems like you were just unlucky, i would def change it "u prob already have", i dont think it would happen again ;]
No because it's on spint, which is a cdma carrier. if it was on verizon it would not be able to either, only if it was on AT&T or t-mobile would it be, since they are GSM carriers. That's why the iPhone can, since it's on at&t
Thanks for mentiioning the dead pixel issue. I will probably wait for a 2nd Generation when Palm improved that and also when it comes to Verizon network. Not worth it for me to switch carriers. I didn't switch to At&t when they launched the iPhone. I'll survive waiting a little longer for the Pre to come to Verizon. At&t reception is just horrid over here in California.
Just a question. I have a Blackberry Curve, and with it I can download music from my computer (limewire) and put it on to my phone. I can listen to it from there and also I can set it as my ring tone. With the Pre can I upload my own music from my computer and play that, or are you REQUIRED to purchase it from that amazon music thing or what ever. thanks
i have google maps for my palm treoo 700 which it does not have gps function but wen i put in cross streets i tend to put at least the city (e.g. Yackley Ogden Lisle) it will give me exactly yackley ave and ogden ave in lisle so it's pretty good with that...mind u i have the older version of google maps so iono it should work the same
Real nice plain language review of the Pre. Thanks. Didn't know that about downloading music only over wifi...interesting. Question: I am missing phone calls on my Pre because by the time I get my phone from my pocket and then fiddle with the lock sliding gesture...the call is gone. How can i get rid of the lock altogether?
another great review, keep doing them, just a i have a question. do you think i shuold change me from att to sprint, for the palm pre? is as that good?
you should switch to Sprint regardless if you want the pre or not (although the Pre is freakin awesome) Sprints plans are sooo much cheaper especially on the Everything Data plans. Fact: Sprints 3G network is 4 times larger than AT&T's 3G network
Truthfully, I don't know if I am the best person to answer that question because I have barely used an iPhone or even AT&T. But if I come across anyone who has made the switch from an iPhone to the Pre, I'll definitely let you know. I would be very interested to hear their story.
the wall charger is made of 2 pieces so it can be used in different countries whit different charger forms
i think you should wait a little with the "pre replacing program"..it seems there's a problem with the first series of phones..
anyway i'd like to see a review about the Music app.. being a long time ipod/iphone user i think this is gonna be the Achille heel for me ..although i know it can connects thought iTunes. But since what i saw in reviews the Music app looks quite basic
have you traded for an iphone yet?

sprint navigation has turn by turn directions

Yes, Sprint Navigation has turn by turn directions.
I just wanted to make it clear that while the Google Maps app does have some type of GPS functionality, it does not have turn by turn directions.
Thanks for clearing that up!
