  • The one in front was hauling tubes of hamburger or sausage and the one in back had gigantic steel rods on it. They went right through the cab of the truck on impact.

  • What were the trucks hauling?

  • All I hear is "driver fatigue".

BS. Brakes fail, obstacles change in a second, a thousandth of a second.

"what if" the guy on front brakes hard, and his tail lights don't work? And at the same time, there is an oncoming vehicle on his left? And a child playing in the yard to his right?

I'd make the same choice "if".

Don't assume this man was at fault. He's the only one who doesn't get to tell his story.

  • :( Sad

  • wow that's really scary. where did this happen?

  • @cj382 it happened in Bellevue, Ohio

  • if the truck driver was smart enough he would have dropped that trailer before the fire got up closer to the truck and closer to the refer fuel tank. that way the truck would have been saved if the fire was to spread far enough up to the truck. becuase the refer tank would have blown the whole semi and trailer up.

  • I dont know about you but id be disconnecting that trailer and getting the Tractor out of there because if the flames reach the gas tank on the bottom of the trailer that would have been one helluva boom

  • Wow...how unfortunate. What a scene. You never like to see stuff like that.

  • obviously they didnt have to call cops since one showed up i the middle of this vid

  • Police were called immediately before video was taken.

  • Why didnt he drop the trailer right there and get the truck away from it all ?

  • @jeepers5626, no people like me don't keep you employed because I did not damage anything because i look and pay attention when I am pulling out from under a trailer. I just said it caught, didn't say anything was broken.

  • Those refrigeration trailers are foam filled walls that when they burn it's toxic. I know,I work on them everyday. Hope this isn't one I done the tail light wiring on.. ha ha

  • you notice how the guys are just sitting around NOT calling the cops

  • The cops were called way before this video was shot.

  • @tlyerwid what good are the cops?? the fire dept are the only ones who can keep things from getting worse, all the cops do is write shit in their notepads and determine who gets charged

  • Wow, 60mph will kill you in an instant. Unlucky

  • I have the same setup with disc brakes, but if your not paying attention to what your doing, IT'S NOT GOING TO MATTER !!!!!

  • HA stop it at :45 it looks like dudes hair is smoldering!!

  • unhook from your trailer driver and save your rig. Just dolly down and go.

  • F**k dollying down, just pull the pin and drop the trailer

  • yeah dude... your gonna lose the trailer anyways

  • @rottenutube Fuck that, Get out and pull the 5th wheel jaw release and don't even worry about the gladhands or 7way pigtail. I'd be gone. Drop that bitch on the ground..ha ha

  • where was this?

  • It was in Bellevue, Ohio.

  • thanks for comeback....folks gotta watch out...a careless split second.

  • DAMN

  • what happened here?

  • Read the description at the top right.

  • First thing you look for is placards. If you see the explosive ones start running!

  • "if he had inspected them, they shoulnd fail, thats the problem"

Anything mechanical is prone to failure at any given time. Air brakes is actually much more prone to failure then hydraulic brakes. Heavy use can overheat the brakes (I've seen rigs have their brakes catch fire) and bleed off air pressure when your slowing/stopping that much weight. A semi can burn off brand new brakes like its nothing especially on hilly, mountainous roads.

  • actually u couldnt be more wrong air brakes are safer since when they lose air pressure they lock up and wont release until fixed

  • nvm missread ur statement cirux but air breaks are still better for preventing wrecks and of coarse any brakes will get burnt up especially when hauling 50 ton loads

  • Evidently you have never driven a semi with air brakes. Air brakes take longer to respond, when they lose pressure, its just a spring pressing on the pads and it will not stop a truck going down hill. It will slow a truck on level ground and keep a parked truck from rolling. Truck brakes are nothing like car brakes.

  • braking systems here in europe are very advanced.i live in ireland and pretty much all trailers now come with electronically controlled disc brakes and stability control (EBS+).combine the trailer with a disc braked tractor unit with ABS and EBS and braking performance is excellent.

my truck runs at up to 44,000kg at lot of the time and the difference between drum brakes and discs are unbelievable

  • @justgivemetheaccount that is why you have 2 gauges your suppose to watch, if they start to drop an alarm comes on and you pull over.

  • @Cirux321 That is why they have mountain brakes. I am a Trailer mechanic for CRST.

  • man, you guys sound like some old bickering old farts. none of you were there...relax,.,.,.

  • My dad is a truck driver and this is the type of thing that i, well my entire family accually, worry about. he's not an over the road driver, but he works like 15-18 hrs a day and this incident right here is one of the things that we pray never happen to him. I think us kids would be able to handle it, but with my mom in the mental and physical health she is in right now, i dont think she would be able to, and probly go into shock and possably be hospitalized, or worse.

  • I've wondered about if the front truck could pull free, then maybe they could get to the second trucker . Being a truck driver i am always thinking what if? This newer diesel fuel that doesnt smoke is just about like gasoline.Hope i dont have to come accross that as one of the first. I know drivers who had to stand by helplessly because the guy couldnt be freed while he burned. Rest in peace driver!

  • While this is sad, I question that the truck in the rear was going 60-70. The rear of the trailer on fire was not crumpled. Trailers are lightweight and would have been torn up if hit that fast. There isn't even a wrinkle in the side sheeting on it.

  • The first truck was crammed with rolls of hamburger or sausage. I don't know if that would make a difference or not.

  • @Ork1958 I beg to differ. I build these. the frames are steel and the rear door frame, bumber and rear posts are made of stainless steel. They are made to with stand heavy impact.

  • oh wow show da pic den ???

  • NO.

  • Why would you want to see the photo? You think its 'neat' to see someone dieing/dead?

  • There are plenty of places online to see pics like that if you feel up to it. Be forewarned, you might find out if you have the stomach to be a first responder or not. Being one of the first at an accident scene can be traumatic and cause you to go into shack the same as if you had been in the accident!

  • did u c him die or did he burn alive

  • You couldn't see him because of all the flames. I did however get a photo of him while he was still in the truck after they put the flames out. It is not a close up and I have never shown that photo to anyone.

  • ther is know way he can drop it cuzzz he have to put the landing gear down and unloke the fifth wheel well it take some time to do it may be he is scare what happen next offcourse his life is important than the tracor and trailler

  • do you even know what you're talking about? lol, landing gear are for aircraft, unlock the fifth wheel? dude, there isn't a separaate lock for each wheel! learn something, and then talk.

  • maybe you are the one that should learn something. the landing are the legs on the front end of the trailer that allow it to stand upright on its own without the tractor, the fifth wheel is the steel plate on the back of the tractor, that connects to the pin on the nose of the trailer that allows the two to combine so you can pull the trailer down the road. try not to smart off when you have no clue

  • You are an idiot...you need to learn before you open your dumbass mouth....

  • Hydrivee, You don`t need to crank the landing gear down in a situation like that. The rule of thumb is that anytime your trailer is on fire, if possible you just pull the fifth wheel pin and drive the tractor out from under it letting the trailer drop on the ground. (the trailer wouldn`t be pullable anymore anyway and would have to be towed off)

  • The only Problem i see with just pulling the Pin and Driving out is that here in the UK and Europe for that matter we have no Taps on the Airlines, There Non-Return Valve Push-fit set up, so as soon as you pull away and snap those Airlines your Air will Bleed and your Brakes will apply, not only that, the front of the Trailor is going to do a lot of Damage to the Rear of the very Unit your trying to save for the sake of not Winding your legs down.Mind you, ts down to the amount of time you have.

  • The trailer would not do any damage to the rear of the tractor as you pull out from under it and it falls to the ground. Maybe your tractors are set up differant in Europe from ours here in the states,as soon as our trailers come off the fifth wheel they would slide along the tractor frame until it drops to the ground,(the kingpin would not catch on the frame of the tractor and no damage would be done, we have a saftey valve that kicks in for the air leak problem to protect the tractor)

  • "Safety Valve" Sounds like a good idea, basically, in Europe, if we were to snap our airlines for whatever reason the Air would just Bleed until the Compressor could no longer keep up and everything would come to a stop. I think our Pins are set back further than you guys,2 metres usually.

  • as long as you hold your release button in or out depending on the setup you can get away

  • well actually im 17 i ride in a freightliner and my moms friend was supposed to drop it and forgot to put down the landing gear and in the very back it cought the frame and bent it like 1 1/2 inch nothing major but it sucked getting the trailor back up

  • Depending on the tractor the kinpin could catch on the frame. I drive in the states and had a trailer catch one time even with the legs lowered to the ground. I did not let the air bags empty completely.

  • @MrTrucker08 ha ha. people like you keep me employed. I am a trailer mechanic,,ha ha

  • It would take an Experienced, Fit Driver less than a minute, that"s all it took me when i had a Fire on the Rear Brakes one afternoon. Most importantly, Don"t Panic, Legs Down, Air and Electical supply Disconnected, Dog Clip off, Pull Fifth Wheel Lock. In this situation however i think i would have attempted to Drag the whole lot forward immediately to Aid access, but then again i wasn"t there so i can"t really comment profesionally.

  • what does dog clip off mean. i would just release the fifth wheel put the fucker in gear and drop the trailer on the ground its gone any way. id do it with out disconnecting anything

  • "Dog Clip" is a little clip on the fifth wheel that prevents the fifth wheel from being Disengaged. Basically, it"s a little safety device helping to prevent accidental disengagement of the fifth wheel. It"s also one of the first things the UK Traffic Police will check in the event of you losing a Trailor. Also, if the Vehicle you are Driving is not fitted with one when it should be,{There are Different Designs} then you are well within your rights to refuse to take that vehicle out.

  • where on the fifty wheel all i see is the hook where would i find it?

  • lol did you see the jogger running by @0:45?

  • That is so sad. Seeing that jogger run by seemingly unaware or not concerned that there is a dying person next to them... this world we live in is horrible. Too convenient, too much crime.

*just random thoughts in my head*

  • It wasn't a jogger. It was just someone running to the red truck that went by right beforehand.

  • newly placed traffics lights are always a good way to get killed..

  • LOL i love the old man smoking-one while watching

  • Why doesnt trucker #2 (reefer) not drop the burnin trailer?

  • Because hes an dumb ass

  • what coused it?

  • Apparently the second trucker fell asleep.

  • thx

  • was you there?

  • Well yes i was there, I took the videos. Why?

  • cop drive by at like 55 sec? i know he cant park by it, but looks like he just drove away

  • The cop drove by and stopped down the road a ways. Something exploded on the truck as he drove by but it did nothing to his car. Probably gave him a good scare though.

  • when that police cruiser went by it sounded like he went over part of the fire, his tie blew and he went crshing into the woods. wtg you stupid fucks, wtg!

  • surpise the driver had not unhooked the tractor and save the truck

  • Why the fuck would you do that? People have insurance to deal with those issues. I would rather we not have one more casualty on our highways because of an "accident" ty very much.

  • if he had just been rearended by a rig doing 50mph, there was no way he could drop that trailer - he's lucky if he wasn't badly hurt by the impact let alone the damage of his trailer jamming forward.

  • The explosion noises are definitly the tires. Truck tires are aired to 100 PSI and they sound like a cannon when they explode. I doubt anything inside the trailer was Hazmat (I'm assuming it was refrigerated foods because the trailer was a reefer). People really need to pay attention when they drive. Truck accidents are very VERY costly. Strict laws are made and closly enforced to make sure that trucks are operating properly for everybodys protection. So Drive Safe!

  • You're funny, tires don't sound like cannons when they blow,hi-powered rifle yes, cannons no,just because there is a refer does not not mean anything,I have sent more than one load of bagged dog food in Bud Light semis.I can also say it had NO hazmat as there are no placards stating so,as for laws some companies hire drivers that speak no english so they must call there at HOME wives to translate the dispatch.

  • Tires blowing up sure as hell make more noise than a HP rifle. I know I've had a few blow out in my 25 years of driving

  • I had a driver blow one out that was 1/2 mile ahead of me and I felt it in my floorboard and heard it. I thought something blew on my truck till I seen his tire start to throw sparks. Now a turbo hose blowing off sounds more like a high powered rifle and tires to me sound more like a twelve guage.

  • why would anyone ever ASSUME that truck is non hazardous??????????? dumb, very dumb statement. And how do you know it was the trucks fault in this scene????????? your an idiot.

  • bummer man... exactly why every one should not tail gate.

  • wow, took the police long enough to get there!! jesus, i had a kitchen accident and i heard the sirens like ten seconds after i told the dispatcher where i lived. did the other driver survive??

  • Yes, the other driver was fine and he tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher he had in his truck but it was impossible. And remember our fire department is only maybe 3 miles away.

  • i hope u called 9/11 instead of sitting there and filming

  • Of course the police were called first. I am not a heartless idiot!

  • REAR END ACCIDENTS ARE PREVENTABLE!

  • well yes..

  • Could he have lost his brakes, which often happens going down long hills?

  • if he had inspected them, they shoulnd fail, thats the problem

  • Usually when a truck runs a light at 60 it's a car driver (often someone's entire family) that ends up dead. Probably nine times out of ten, anyway. This time it was the trucker.

  • You couldnt have done anything, and neither could anyone else. the cops or hospital couldnt have done a thing. too bad the guy died, though.

  • the explosions could also be the tires, or if he had a gun for protection in the cab? maybe fire extinguisher 2. nothing for u to do, so u got away which is good, no need for more victims

  • haven't engines?

  • i think those noises you hear are probably hazmat materials going up in flames

  • The explosions were big enough to make me back up! Real scary stuff.

  • it is something you see in one in a million... nice catch

  • Couldn't help but see it because the crash shook my whole house. There was only one house between mine and the accident. First I ran up to see if I could help, then I ran home for my camera.

  • help with what? bringing the dead to life? retard!

  • nice help fellers...Jesus

  • A fire extinguisher was used as soon as it happened, but it did no good at all. Plus there were things exploding. The man in the 2nd semi had to be deceased as soon as the two semis hit.

  • One can only hope so, As a Truck Driver in the U.K. for 20 years i"ve seen many accidents, some Fatal, its not a pretty site, its them kind of memories you can never discard.

  • Hey jakass. Tell me what they could have done aside from allerting the authorities?....hmmm? Do you see the fire, do they appear to have a fire hose and or a fire truck, hell what good is a fire extinguisher going to do, they are designed for small house hold fires usually~! or cam fires as well. not a fukin automotive collision. Use your head and dont insult people unless you know what the hell you are saying.
