I think that this song might be about the "oakies" traveling to California (hence the lyrics: You can find your dreams on the California coast) during the Great Depression. And when the 'oakies" went to California, they brought along a support of socialism and a hope of getting through their desperate situation. However, that is just my thought about the song.

Poor Anti-Flag. They're a punk rock band trying something new! WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING? The Punk scene is one of the most elitist, snobbiest, close-minded music crowds out there when it comes to innovation and trying something new. Oh this is a really good one. This album really seems to channel the roots of America and the common man. I love the folk sound. This one is very Guthrie-esque in its focus and tone, with a modern punk rock facelift.
