Well, I'm working at the plywood factory and it's really noisy there.

And I've seen some of my co- workers using a combination of earplug type headphones and full size noise- canceling headphones. Yes, its' s less convenient to put them on, take them off, but it's less expensive and I guess it might offer some better protection against external noise.

well these are more noise Blocking, not cancelling. the cancelling tech works by using a mic on the exterior of the headphone and then issuing a frequency to cancel out the background sounds its picking up.

I just used this to make a set for $4. I got the shooter "earmuffs" for 2.99 at Harbor Frieght and the headphones from the dollar store. The kind that clip over your ear. They sound pretty good and will make mowing the lawn a lot more enjoyable. I also bought a case for a buck that clips my MP3 player to the side of the headphones so the wire doesn't get in the way.
