Hello everyone. I am a crayton/Townsend here in Denver CO. I know of the Craytons in Texas. Are you all related to us. My mother said Pee Wee was her cousin. My Aunt (in Temple) loves Pee Wee. Please let's connect if you are family.
my uncle and my dad told me i had townsends as family but i never met any of them....my grandfather is emzy crayton....his dad is albert crayton...pee wee's dad and my greatgrandfather are 1st cousins...
great pieces of musical and social history that folks are only just rediscovering - great to see familiy's reactions in the comments here - good rocking everyone and thanks!
Pee Wee gave me guitar lessons back in 1983 and 1984. I went with him to most of his gigs. I want to reconnect with some of his mutual musician buddies, like Rod piazza and the Mighty Flyers, Doug McCleod, fernando the sax Player. My name is Charles and I used to go over Pee Wees House on Curson for my lessons. After he died, I sold my equipment and didn't play for 17 years, but I started playing again and I recorded all of our lessons. Pee Wee is better than B.B. King. rythmn + lead inv. by PW
i'm proud to say he is my great uncle, lol....my grandfather and he were brothers....my gradnfather emzy crayton born in 1912....my great uncle connie curtis crayton born in 1914.....uncle pee wee died in los angeles in 1985...my grandfather died in houston, tx 1994. : (
i look like both of them....i just didn't have their straight hair....their hair wasnt processed, their mother was a white woman/cherokee....their father was a black slave in tx....no joke. controversial at the time.
Mmmmm....goodie goodie R&B/Blues...yep sure before El or Chuck, Maybe Edvard (Chuck) learnt a thing or 2 from him. Sure he gor a lotsa, by his own words, from Louis Jordan and country. Ok, forget about that as this is real strong music by itself and it have stood the time as real great music.
Cool thing about this cut is Pee Wee is doing some of the earliest overdubbing. He's playing the rhythm and lead on the track. IT's cool stuff, thanks!
thanks for posting this snapcracklepop54 pee wee could really play, another great example of that is his version of "blues after hours" which was recorded in 1948, 1948! way ahead of it's time
bought a cd in a charity shop 25 years of Ace Records, this & 25 other beautiful tracks are on it, cheers

He's one of the guitarists who were recording rock and roll (such as "Poppa Stoppa" and this) years before Chuck Berry or Elvis Presley was.

Yes, great record -- but an even greater title.
