Vox Valvetronix Plus VT40+ Demo

I'm stuck between a Fender Mustang II and the Vox 40+. Which one is more bang for the buck?

My son is moving back to the United States and last year I bought him a VOX AC4TV and I want to know if I should buy him a Valvetronix Plus VT40 for the U:S., a U:S. AC4TV, or do you know of a transformer that is reliable for tube amplifiers that need to go from 220v to 110v.

great videos big fan here! the VT20+ can you gig with it?? i mean in a small cafe with a trio nothing big... so if cranked up would you compare it to a 15w all tube amp?? chears all the way from Costa Rica!!

@r17o08b in a small setting like that definitely. Probably won't touch a 15w tube amp (they're louder than you might think) probably closer to 7w tube amp. You'd need something bigger for anything bigger than a cafe but for a cafe it should be fine.

I love the vox Vt40+ so much going to order it from you after my birthday (February) i have a ipod touch and i recording using garageband on it. I have the irig i was wondering if this amp had a lineout jack (quarter jack) if not, if i got a double ended stereo jack cable could i use it like that?

Iove this amp so much even if this won't work I will get it anyway

@ACDCBESTBANDEVER1 It doesn't have a line out I'm afraid. We're not sure about the stereo cable. No harm in trying it. It does have a (small jack) headphone out so perhaps a better bet would be a small jack to big jack cable?

@ThePewewi How does yours sound in comparison? Does it sound duller or harsher etc. A little more info and we can probably figure out where you are going wrong.

@AndertonsMusic First of all I i want to apologize for my English I have problem with sound modeling. In vox vt 40+ commercial you play as if you didn't do anything else in your life! The problem is that I can't set right propotions of Gain, Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass and Master. Many times I have tried to achieve similar sound as yours in the commercial, especially in 1;50-2;30 fragment.

@ThePewewi If you think the amp might be faulty you need to return it to where you bought it for them to take a look at it. Did you buy it from us? Tone is a very subjective thing so finding the 'right' sound is really up to you and is as much dependant on your other gear and (very importantly) playing style and technique. Its usual to take a little while to find the right sweet spots but by experimenting and perhaps reading a bit about Sambora's tone and amp settings you should get there.

They have the same features and the VT40+ is just louder or something else?

And how many watts the VT20+ is?

@kilLphiL280 They are the same the VT20+ is 20w and the VT40+ is 40w usually if there is a number in the amp name (especially if the number is 10, 15, 20, 35, 40 etc) it usually refers to the wattage of the amp, like the Vox AC30 for example.

How does this amp compare to the AD50VT? I bought mine a few years back and It hasnt been the most reliable amp... I know some people get some of the good ones and i guess i got an amp from a bad batch.

I really like the vox brand and sound, as an entry level amp how does this compare to the AD__ VT??

ps, looks better without the cheese grater on the front.

@johnson0nline we're very keen on the VT+ to be frank. It's an end of the market where things are built quite cheaply to keep costs low so as to make the amps affordable so you won't get the same reliability as a handwired Two Rock say but on the flip side we haven't known the VT+ to be particularly unreliable (we haven't had a very large number returned for repair etc) so no reason to believe it should cause any problems reliability wise.

The Vox Valvetronix amps all sound awesome when you set the preamp to your liking, crank the master volume and use the variable wattage knob to control your volume. They have a dual triode 12AX7 in their output circuit so it is a digital amp with a real tube feel and tone Cranking the master soaks the valve and gives you amazing grit. Great sustain and harmonics. I'm amazed with mine since I discovered how to get the most out of this awesome new circuit design.

@reni3 Yes. But bear in mind that if you wanted to gig with it even small gigs you'd be better off looking at the VT40+ so maybe the 40 might be better long term.

To me this amp sounds thin and doesn't have any 'depth' of tone.

The Roland Cube 40XL(same price I think) which you have also demoed, is miles better.

I don't care how many amp models and FX the Vox has,if they're not up to snuff they're a waste of time.

The Roland wins in every department.
