This definitely reminds me of a band called Kino, ironically which included ex-Porcupine Tree drummer Chris Maitland. I am so glad I stumbled upon this band, they are amazing!
I don't think this has much Porcupine Tree to it, either. After all, PT always secured a certain kind of "pop appeal". This reminds me much more of stuff like Symphony X or Riverside.
Like a cross between PT and Symphony X - finally another prog band that I can "get into" and take a break from the DT rut I've been stuck in for years.
@Raffael900me Funny how you can judge my whole musical knowledge based on one comically intended comment I made, and in such a delicate way I might add. I'll bet you I listen to more variety of music than you do.
@BeyondApathy Not as varied as I do I bet, or maybe you do? Classical, rock, pop, jazz, techno, folk... Like for inctance I cant stand, Marlyn Manson but I guess we all hate certain kinds of music and like but I think my taste in music is the most varied ever, or am I wrong? =) Just a playful challenge. =)
@BeyondApathy You do? well SO DO I!!!! Take that. =) Bill Evans, Soundgarden, RATM, No speak americano, Friday, sheryl crow, Finntroll, Keith Jarret, Bela fleck and the flecktones, the chieftans: all of this is music I enjoy...altough R.Blacks friday for a slightly differnt reason. =) Take that. =)
@donaldcrowe Hmm IMO.. PT and Haken is TOTALLY different.. Unless, you compare them to the likes of Andromeda, Pagan's Mind, old Dream Theater, old Symphony X and Shadow Gallery which still has this traditional progressive metal feel to it.
@donaldcrowe who said porcupine tree was king of prog and what is the prog ur talking about prog rock or prog metal? and no such thing as "king of prog" thats just a dumb opinion you can say "one of the best prog metal artists"
@kenw0od Purtroppo sempre più band puntano a formarsi solo tecnicamente, gli Haken nel loro piccolo hanno ripristinato lo spirito del Progressive Metal, puntando a stupire e non ad accontentare un pubblico sempre più annoiato
I perceive some Edge Of Sanity influence here.

First listen, mind blown. This is awesome :)
Also, at 1:47 the bass tone reminds me of Kristoffer Gildelöw.

Porcupine Tree watch out. Haken may be ready to claim the title of kings of prog.
donaldcrowe 2 months ago 4
@donaldcrowe Well, maybe they're ready to claim the second spot, because DT are the number one. Just saying.

@donaldcrowe I would say Dream Theater since Porcupine Tree's style has nothing to do with Haken's...

Sounds like a better, heavier version of Glasser Hammer. I like it :D

@CuriousComposer Additionally, they avoid the conventional trap of being a Dream Theater sound-a-like.
