@sebbrown1 Yes, it'll be interesting to see how well Torchwood can travel. Maybe Russell T Davies's sensibilities will fit well with Americans. Children of the Earth was very Quatermass-ish, though. Time will tell!
Notice the steaming meteorite in the ground? Things fall from space but in all Quatermass stuff, it's buried in the Earth when people find it! Dr.Who had people digging up skulls, fossilised hands, seed pods in the ice. Always something in the ground is the source of danger, wanting to live through us! Very different from American SF like Star Trek. The menace is in the Earth's soil in Brit stuff!
Yup, except it's about 10 years earlier at least, I think? It was also spared the BBC's campaign of deleting and wiping which is why it's in better quality (As opposed to the Dr. Who's Spearhead from Space which only partially survived because some heroic person stole several cans of it before they were erased).
Quatermass was the forerunner of Modern Sci-fi and I do believe that 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' owes a lot to this series.
I think that the music is actually from Dr Who.
Quatermass soundtrack sound like Holst's Mars,the bringer of the war.

Spearhead From Space survives totally intact because ( unlike most Doctor Who ) it was shot entirely on colour 16mm film.
