@andrecato I don't know if it is just my version of the NS7, but when I have the white dot my music isn't automatically synced. It tells me that the beats are within 10 BPM of each other and thus easier to mix, than compared to 20 BPM difference. (Just for the record, I bought mine in Hong Kong as I live in China)
Is that a software/hardware problem, or is it because the sync bottom has to be pushed down in order to automatically make the two tunes match?
I've been looking at CDJs, in particular the Numark NDX800 and from what you've said in this video would i be right in assuming that when you use cdjs with software like serato and traktor theres a delay in the sound? and is this the same if i was just using cdjs on their own? These are some top videos, way more informative than any others around, thanks
When you use CD players of any kind with software, there should be NO DELAY. None at all, if there is, you have something wrongly setup. It has taken a decade of work by the big DJ companies to make this happen, but when you use Traktor Scratch Pro as a DVS you can use control CDs or Vinyl to control your software without any issue, or you can map MIDI messages for Traktor Pro and still have no delay. Follow me on Twitter! @andrecato for more!!!! :)
@JeffSpicoli80 My pleasure, that's my aim, I ain't here to confuse people! If you need any help with your gear search, feel free to write me anytime. Also find me on Twitter - @andrecato
man, congrats for the product reviews. They're awesome.
I'd love if you could give me some advice... I'm new to dj'ing, but after being experimenting traktor with my own keyboard mapping for some months, I decided it's time to buy a controller. What I'm not sure about is the number of decks it should have. Do you recommend me to buy a 4 channel one and start mixing with 2 decks, or buy a 2 channel controller (like the NS7 or the DDJ-S1) and upgrade it to a more complete on later? Thanks.
Hey Andre, I have a ns7fx, I just want to know if there is anyway that I can scan my music and find the songs by typing on the search bar, I have another mixer with virtual DJ and I know that one I can scan my music and find it faster, please let me know thanks
Hey mate, yup there is a search bar, you can't see it? Its on the right hand side above the track listing on the new Serato Itch 2! Make sure you download the new version of Serato to try out...
@Xld2s59 Well, 7 is higher, but The NS6 is the newer and more feature packed model. The metal case and motorised platters I think are better on the NS7, but the resolution is better on 6... The differences go on and on.. They are VERY different, so there will be people that argue for both!
@djCmuncher hey! I have a mixdeck right now. Personally, I find it really awesome. i have it hooked up with Traktor 2. But it's really for beginners/intermediate (I now work in a club, so I need more functions). If you're looking for something pro, i would suggest the ns7. If you're starting out, go with the mixdeck. also depends on the price: mixdeck is 750$; ns7 is 1600$ (don't forget to add at least 250$ for a case to protect your gear). hope this helps
@ShaolinDeadlyGamers Really? You don't like it? I think its great. Everyone in the world has different opinions on this topic, and I am sure you can find one that works for you if you don't like Itch. I think they all have things that I love about em, and are ever evolving.... You can also change a few things like the wav moving horizontally or vertically... Anyway, if you are not into it, there are others, so maybe hunt down something else.
@andrecato I was using Numark Cue but it still just doesn't do for me what I like.. One day someone will come out with one that I fall in love with... if they don't I will just have to develop it myself.
@ShaolinDeadlyGamers If the look is that important, then the one to choose is the new Torq 2. You can download skins onilne and make it look like whatever you want...
@andrecato I have three monitors that have various madness playing on them as well as my dj software so it is visible to everyone that walks by so the look is rather important as strange as it seems. It's kind of like in the studio and you have 96 i/o's.. you are never going to use half of them but to people that don't understand it's impressive as all hell.
Hey man, i love all your videos and respect the time you take to solidly review so many products!
One question. I need to buy a new controller and was looking at either the ns7 or the ns6... I need one asap but i was wondering in your opinion which is better?
Is the ns7 outdated now? Is the ns6 a better buy? I can get the ns7 at a cheaper price... Not by much though,
@ssidao12 Hey mate, both the NS7 and NS6 are fantastic digital DJ controllers and I have been lucky enough to play with both. The NS6 is newer, has more decks and features, but the NS7 is metal and has motorised platters so they are different as opposed to being better than one another. Its really up to you, what do you want to do with your equipment and how you want to mix, but I think the modern digital DJ would rather the newer and more featured NS6. The older DJ who loves vinyl will buy NS7
@mrSBthaIII Hi, the NS7 is still VERY much current and an awesome buy. There is a newer model called the NS6 and the V7, which may be more up your alley, but the NS7 is still a very current and awesome beast!
i have a problem with my USB is not working even i trying many times so sofware in the computer dont see the usb from the machine is conecting. u know why???
I have a question, Im just starting Dj-ing and own an NS7, However somehow the turntables are starting up extremely slow whenever i hit the play or pause button, same thing starting, and stopping. What controls this?
whats happens if there are multiple djs that want to change the laptop while one is playing, or is there a harddisc that where ispossible to save some music and use them if there is any need that we need to change the laptop and no need of stopping the disco, instead of adding an extra cd player to aux for that use.
I want it so much to replace my VCI...... but i dont know if i should get this or 2 stantons with a numark 2 mixer and SSL1 ... which one? help would be awesome
This is awesome, you seem to get the best of both world, the touch control of analogue and convenience of digital. I spent a lot of time on SL1210's and I found that my beat matching could always get better. I guess I need to go and try this out, but is this really as good as vinyl. Do u really feel that same level of control? I have been less than excited by some of the 'digital' mixing that come out over the last few years, but this seems like a return to turntablism.
Hi, I just wanted to know, does the numark ns7 has a Build-in sound card for previewing songs and cueing the whole thing up, or do I need to buy a External Sound Card ?
i've used it, but holy crap its kinda mind boggling that the tables are that sensitive that without a needle it can sense that you are keeping the vinyl still when the platter is still spinning, that is nuts
Best review on YouTube Andre. Do you know what other software this can be mapped with? I've never used sera to but am pretty familiar with Virtual DJ.
Would it be too badass for first DJ-like set, no experience about the DJing never before, but on other hand are these how asked/popular and good change to sell it away just bit cheaper than it was as a new, if the DJing is not hitting on me? And yes it's bit'o'expensive if you consider other many times cheaper turntabel-MIDIs but this just seems, right.
can i put my own sound effects!!!can i use my own on this ns7fx???let me know please!!!!i appreciatted...is the software easy to intall on my apple macbook pro???let me know please
ay bro im just starting to dj do you think i should get this ive looked at it nd loved it my friends and familia like what i do on the com but ive never done it on a real system should i get this nd if i do what are good speakers/ labtop would be good????thnks in advance if u do reply
So its basically its like this. "you open item, install "serato itch" in your computer, an plug in NS7 an play." EASY AS THAT? nothing else i need to buy? like extra program an shxt like that? cause really ive been DJ'ing an its frustrating cause i buy something an i need something else to get that to work an its getting annoying an im spending to much .. aha just making sure... cause i wanna know be4 i purchase.. THNX..
So its basically its like this. "you open item, install "serato itch" in your computer, an plug in NS7 an play." EASY AS THAT? nothing else i need to buy?
hey guys, do you think this is worth the price? the scratching are exactly like vinyls right? should I get these or spend more money on pioneer cdjs? which one is more worth it? btw, im not much of a dj pro... so please reply.
I dont see the point of cdjs anymore its either turntables or a controller like this or the kontrol s4 or similar
cdjs (good ones) can cost 800-1000+ each plus a mixer as well thats another 500+ plus if you want serato or traktor thats another few hundred bucks. i have two vestax turntables a vestax mixer and serato and although ill be keeping them. Im going to get the kontrol s4 there is just so much more you can do with it.
is the software included compatible with mac, idk if you were runing windows on that macbook or not, also should I save for this or make sure I really want to get into this and buy djay and vestax spin??? thanks!!
hi pls help me..... im wantiing to buy the ns7 except for the fact that i found out today that it only works with a mac book....pls let me know if my pc would work on it....the specs are its a dell xps m1530 with windows vista operating system in a 32 bit...i bought the mixdeck also by numark but wanted to upgrade to this......it worked well with the mixdeck but that runs with traktor and i believe that the ns7 is with serato itch.....so yea pls pls let me know if it would work thanks
You have the best reviews up on Youtube, honest. However, will you make a review of the Numark Mixdesk?? That would be so tight!! :D I'm still not sure which of the two to get. :s
Even though this video is a year old. It is the best review video i have seen for the ns7/ns7fx. Thank you very much andrecato!! :) very informative and detailed. Cheers!!
I've been playing with my NS7 now for about 2 months & I still haven't figured out how to crate music. I accidently did it with 2 songs, but I couldn't figure out exactly what I did. Can you explain to me how to create, change, and/or delete songs in the crates?
Hey your video was really helpful! =) but i was wondering if you can help me out because im going to dj and im buying the ns7 and im stuck on what type of laptop i should get.? alot of people tell me to get the mac pro but i was wondering if there was any other type of laptop for a cheaper price for the same quality?
NICE overview, my local Best Buy has this on demo. I'm thinking about buying one but for how much it costs I want to make sure I love it. I have a question, when I move the cross fader all the way left or right it starts the track over from the begining. I'm sure it's something simple but I can't figure it out. Any idea what I need to change? I screwed with every nob on it with no luck :(
@jr92503 Hey brother, ok, you have the feature called 'FADER START' turned on! This is so you don't even need to touch the transport controls on the NS7. You can use the cross-fader to start the audio and throw in samples or mix... Its a great feature, but of course, there is a switch there to turn it off :) Screwing knobs won't help!
@R00tn0te I have used both and I prefer the Numark NS7 but since the VCI - 300 is such a great system I wouldn't upgrade because it's like spending over 1000 dollars on a small improvement but the choice is yours.
I am not able to mix beat. The beat from deck A overrides deckB. I am not in Sync am so stuck with this issue now. I press Sync on both side but still the Bass jumps somewhere else. its really trouble >helpp me guyss please.
dude you are sooo damn amazing :O, iam really on ov ur biggest fans, i love all ur vids dude keep it up, (Y). i jst have two qs 4 u, iam gonna start my deejaying soon, and i wanted to know if i should start with the ns7 or with somthing older i guess,??
second qs, iz i would love to know how much is the ns7? i live in kuwait, and i searched for it but couldnt find it. anywayz thanx soo much for ur vids (Y) u have been a real help :D
@69recliner Hey mate, thanks for your kind words, always happy to hear that someone, anywhere in the world can gain something from my vids, so thanks for your comment it means a lot!
Now, in regards to a setup to get started on. If its accessible, ie, if you can buy it, and you can afford it, it would be an AMAZING place to start. Write me an email if you would like to discuss it in depth, but it all depends, on money, availability, whether you like it and what you want to do with your DJing.
@KrimesWifey No, you can't, they are separate products entirely and built/programmed very differently. Plus, if Serato did that it would make them way less money!
hey dude, jus t wondering if there is a key lock or master tempo? also, my budget restricts me from buying a mac for this set up, do have any recommendations as to what windows laptop might best suit this system?
@ooonstooonst . Hey mate, there is a key lock, yes. in answer to your other question, I am the wrong person to comment, as I have used mac's for many years and don't know much about the right PC, sorry!
@ooonstooonst The Dell 1530 laptops work well for this. Or really any $900 - $1500 laptop on the market. You do want to use the laptop exclusively for this purpose. Meaning dont install unneeded software on the machine.
-------------------- This is the difference between mac and pc. Mac's are controlled, PC's are like the wild wild west. If you control your PC you can have the same stability of the much higher priced Mac. I personally use a dell 1530 to live mix with Ableton.
great Vid, man, learned a lot from it. I only got one question, I recently downloaded the krafty kuts against the grain ipod app (really good, should check it out) but it doesnt look possible to plug in my ipod and use it here, or is there a possibility?
@ProjectDionic ... Sure is possible! Ok, so just the same way you would plug your iPhone into a mixer, you can plug it in as an external device to the NS7. You will need a lead that has a headphone jack (8th inch stereo jack) to stereo RCA that you will plug into your NS7.... That way you can plug your iPhone into the AUX input at the front of the NS7, the same way you would plug in a CD player or other line input device... Tooo EASY!!!! Thanks for your comments :)
i was just wondering do you have to use the auto sync feature or can you use head phones and mix it your self its just i would prefer to mix it myself ?
@TheTristram1993 No mate, you don't have to use the AUTO SYNC at all... It is a great feature, regardless of how experienced you are though... Once you can set your pitch perfectly within seconds, Auto sync is not necessary, but is a great help as you can spend your time on other features, instead of boring Pitch Bending and adjustments... Think looping, effecting, scratching, phrasing etc... This is what your audience wants from you, not pitch adjustments. But yes, you can do it manually!!
i have a problem i just buy a brand new NS7 so i began my instalation but at the end it tells me that my NS7 Hardware was not install succesfully so if u can please help me! did i did the installation the wrong way ? or its my system NS7 not working propertly?shuld i return my NS7? or im missing a cd to install my NS7?
My ITCH program its Working propertly exept it say that my NS7 its diconected by it is conected tru the USB cable!!
What kind of speakers are those? i have been looking online for ones like that, they are a nice size. And whats the deal with the amp? do you have to use one with your speakers? I am a beginner btw lol
@jwmarshall900 . The Speakers are Tascam VLA8's, and they are self powered, meaning they have an amplifier built into them. So you just connect the NS7 straight into powered speakers without needing a separate amp.
my laptop computer doesn't seem compatible with my ns7 is it required to get a new computer or can i upgrade the speed of it with the computer i have?
@kingofjuke7 ... That is unfortunately like asking how long is a piece of string?!! What is your current computer? What OS are you running and how much memory/hard drive space does it have? Let me know happy to help if i can... I am a Mac person my self and the NS7 will work on any intel mac in my experience so far! In PC land, you need at least 32-bit Windows 7, Vista, or XP... 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor; 2MB L2 cache; 2GB RAM(Win Vista), 1GB RAM(XP)
@kingofjuke7 Good Question...I'm dealing with the same problem. The Ns7/serato itch requires 1.8gh minimum! Depending on the type of computer you have you may be able to upgrade. I recomend finding out if you can upgrade, if not then yes, you will have to buy a computer that can handle the software. Refer to the tech specs on the NS7 and your laptop. Good Luck!
Hello Adrecato you have created a great clip with useful tools, I'm a beginer Dj and I'm planing on buying this system, but what woud you recommend for me about this system to improve my dj-ing hobbies and to learn how to Dj as a beginer please give me some information if you dont mind thanks.
@kabul234 Hi Kabul, I would check out all the great DJ sites and watch as many intro videos as you can. There are 2 main DJ sites I like - Skratworx and DJ Tech Tools. These guys give great info on new products and have lots of DJs on there that you can talk to about gear. The other thing is simple. Learn how to count to 4 and keep a foot tapping while you get started so you can feel the constant 4 beat rhythms. email me any time with questions
Hey, great video!, I wanted to know though, if you had the obligation to use NS7 with Itch, or you can use other softwares like Traktor, Virtual Dj ect...?
@ejmmartin93 - Any, in all honesty, either self powered speakers for gigs, whatever takes your fancy though! You need an amp and speakers, or powered speakers.
just bought a Numark NS7 was wondering is there any step by step guide that helps me threw it ? still building on PC to run the NS7 im useing windows7 .any help on this will gratefully appreciated thank you again ( Andre Cato ) for last answer to my advice on the ns7 and speakers TY!
@fluchiano - Ummm, I would try maybe some more videos on Youtube, or feel free to send me any questions you have and I will do my best to help. I have seen a few people with Windows 7 issues due to the 64bit stuff, but i think it is getting more and more stable as time goes on.
Enjoy it!

caruso1984 1 year ago
Would it be too badass for first DJ-like set, no experience about the DJing never before, but on other hand are these how asked/popular and good change to sell it away just bit cheaper than it was as a new, if the DJing is not hitting on me? And yes it's bit'o'expensive if you consider other many times cheaper turntabel-MIDIs but this just seems, right.

hmm now I'm not too sure which to get this or the traktor kontroller s4
I like the look of this one(love the 45rpm style records) but the s4 has a ton more feature.
I am although very comfortable with serato as i use it now with my turntable set up
im sure traktor is pretty similar
devote 1 year ago
@devote i think the NS7 are more for scratch dj's and the s4 is for house/techno...i play more hip hop so i'm getting the NS7FX over the S4

I'm in the same boat as you mate, but i gotta say im leaning towards the traktor just for the "ya can't go wrong" feature, does that make sense?

So its basically its like this. "you open item, install "serato itch" in your computer, an plug in NS7 an play." EASY AS THAT? nothing else i need to buy? like extra program an shxt like that? cause really ive been DJ'ing an its frustrating cause i buy something an i need something else to get that to work an its getting annoying an im spending to much .. aha just making sure... cause i wanna know be4 i purchase.. THNX..

hey guys, do you think this is worth the price? the scratching are exactly like vinyls right? should I get these or spend more money on pioneer cdjs? which one is more worth it? btw, im not much of a dj pro... so please reply.
iSupaDupaFly 1 year ago
@iSupaDupaFly

I screwed with every nob on it with no luck :(
jr92503 1 year ago
@jr92503 Hey brother, ok, you have the feature called 'FADER START' turned on! This is so you don't even need to touch the transport controls on the NS7. You can use the cross-fader to start the audio and throw in samples or mix... Its a great feature, but of course, there is a switch there to turn it off :) Screwing knobs won't help!

Does anyone think it's worth upgrading to the Numark NS7?
R00tn0te 1 year ago
@R00tn0te I have used both and I prefer the Numark NS7 but since the VCI - 300 is such a great system I wouldn't upgrade because it's like spending over 1000 dollars on a small improvement but the choice is yours.

Plus, if Serato did that it would make them way less money!
andrecato 1 year ago
hey dude, jus t wondering if there is a key lock or master tempo? also, my budget restricts me from buying a mac for this set up, do have any recommendations as to what windows laptop might best suit this system?
ooonstooonst 1 year ago
@ooonstooonst . Hey mate, there is a key lock, yes. in answer to your other question, I am the wrong person to comment, as I have used mac's for many years and don't know much about the right PC, sorry!
andrecato 1 year ago

ProjectDionic 1 year ago

TheTristram1993 1 year ago
@TheTristram1993 No mate, you don't have to use the AUTO SYNC at all... It is a great feature, regardless of how experienced you are though... Once you can set your pitch perfectly within seconds, Auto sync is not necessary, but is a great help as you can spend your time on other features, instead of boring Pitch Bending and adjustments... Think looping, effecting, scratching, phrasing etc... This is what your audience wants from you, not pitch adjustments. But yes, you can do it manually!!

What kind of speakers are those? i have been looking online for ones like that, they are a nice size. And whats the deal with the amp? do you have to use one with your speakers? I am a beginner btw lol
jwmarshall900 1 year ago
@jwmarshall900 . The Speakers are Tascam VLA8's, and they are self powered, meaning they have an amplifier built into them. So you just connect the NS7 straight into powered speakers without needing a separate amp.

my laptop computer doesn't seem compatible with my ns7 is it required to get a new computer or can i upgrade the speed of it with the computer i have?
kingofjuke7 1 year ago
@kingofjuke7 ... That is unfortunately like asking how long is a piece of string?!! What is your current computer? What OS are you running and how much memory/hard drive space does it have? Let me know happy to help if i can... I am a Mac person my self and the NS7 will work on any intel mac in my experience so far! In PC land, you need at least 32-bit Windows 7, Vista, or XP... 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor; 2MB L2 cache; 2GB RAM(Win Vista), 1GB RAM(XP)
andrecato 1 year ago
@kingofjuke7 Good Question...I'm dealing with the same problem. The Ns7/serato itch requires 1.8gh minimum! Depending on the type of computer you have you may be able to upgrade. I recomend finding out if you can upgrade, if not then yes, you will have to buy a computer that can handle the software. Refer to the tech specs on the NS7 and your laptop. Good Luck!
