I love this song. I was a little girl when this song came out I think 80's music is the best kind of music they don't make love songs like this anymore.
fantastico, me gusta desde que gane un concurso de radio, donde preguntaban el nombre de la cancion y yo conteste correctamente, eso fue en el año de 1989 en una emisora de nombre latina 99.1 F.M valencia venezuela.
My freakin problem is I know who's holdin Donna now, and it isnt me! She once told me if she was ever stranded on a deserted island and could choose one person to be w her it would be me. I keep waiting for that day to come! Any one who says its better to have loved and lost never had to bare the pain!!
it's ironic. The adults of the 60's were saying the same thing about the 80's music what you all are saying about todays music. when todays kids are older in the 2030's, they will say that 2030 music isn't as good as their music was.
This track is SAD. This song makes me think about my x of 9 years. Real talk! I thought she was my future wife. Also makes me think about my last girl who I also thought for sure was THE ONE. Love def isnt easy. being a single guy at 31 yrs old , getting older every day, is a HARD thought to process.
70's and 80's are truly the best of the best era of just plain old great songs. I'm afraid that this era will never ever come back anymore. I'm so lucky to have lived those times. I'm rewinding back the time by listening to these kind of songs. Music nowadays is dead. No meaning to the lyrics at all.
@MrGthang I most certainly concur. 21 years from now nobody is goin' 2 be checkn 4 Gay oops Trey songs, kelly rowland, rianna and chris brown they r all weak artist, 2days hip hop don't even get me started.
This song gives me the sense of nostalgia.. remember some of things i spent in the old days.. Nice song.. Todays song does not give me the same type of feeling.. Its missing that element of nostalgia if you know what i mean..Old songs are way better than todays songs imo..
@IBTMorimoto Nostalgia? More than that, it's missing feeling. All songs nowadays are just redundant minimalist notes stuck on top of static beats with some attractive auto-tuned singer.
1985 el año que nacio mi hermana, en que me enamore varias veces de compañeritas de colegio, año en que solo veia el futuro y no existia pasado, como me transporto a ese año cada vez que escucho esta cancion
everytime i hear this song,it reminds me of someone, i dunno why its just i imagine so many things that is impossible to happen..oh my..what have you done to me..
man i was 6 when this came out; i LOVE everything 80's the music, sound, cartoons, tv was better back then bc there still a since of purity and character in it; now its all about money...no skill no talent no effort
I heard this song play on the intercom at the Fred Meyer's where I worked, it hadn't played on the intercom for weeks, and finally I asked a coworker the name of the song, she told me, and another eight weeks later I had the CD, a gift from Anne, the sweetest, most beautiful, most wonderful electronics manager, as soon as I could I put the CD on my computer, I have listened to this song everyday since then! God bless DeBarge, and every Donna, and all of you, thanks for posting.
I used to have a classmate named Donna way back in my elementary days. She's so intelligent that almost all of our classmates adored her and i"m one them. Yet she's also cute and smart! Dunno whose holding her right now...:)
@zsharpdotnet you got that right. I'm so hooked on DeBarge music and other oldies from other artists that had TALENT AND SOUL. Where is all that now?? SMH
@XxBabyGurlLovexX yeah, its not that i dont respect musicians these days, but, all of they're songs are just about sex, getting drunk, getting wasted, getting busted, getting money and booty. but for me thats not music. sounds more like a gimmick. i wish the oldies can make a comeback, like babyface, he is my all time favorite musician.
This brings back memories. I had a friend dedicate this to a guy that broke up with me (long time ago), because that is my name. Thanks for the memory, I miss those times.
@perpetual61 if you build the machine and offer to sell tickets let me know I would love to return to the 80's

My name is Donna and this is the only 'Donna' song I ever actually liked!! People love to sing those other Donna songs to me all the time. I wish someone would sing this one once in a while.,
Smooth& Classy Soul from the Mid-80's by one truly underrated talent from those days. This guy could really sing, & I loved--loved this song. Wolfsky9
I kept on hearing this song on the radio but never knew the name of the song or who sang it. I typed in the lyrics to this song on google and voila.....found the artist and name of the song. Great song.....miss the 80s.
the first time i heard this song i thought it was a woman singing and i was a child and thought why is she in love with donna?.... and i grew up believing that the singer was a girl till i realized some men have a particular and soft voice and I always loved this song, just loved it, all my life, now i know it's a man singing though i wouldn't mind if it was a girl because the song is awesome and love it
This song make me laugh a little bit.I was 10 when it came out,and my parents were divorcing. My Dad till this day is still kicking himself, kind of ironic how my Mom's name is Donna.Guess Dad is still wondering who's holding Donna now.
After hearing this song I think I'm going to go to bed and if I consentrate hard enough I'll be 16 again when I wake up...this song REALLY REALLY takes me back!
I have been searching for this song for a few years now. I heard a picee of it on a radio station one night on a long long drive home. .. I couldn't find it, I didn't knw who sang it, but today i randomly stumbled onto it; amazingly*.
p.s. I was born in 1980, and I miss the 80's more than anything else!!
reminds me of my ex girlfriend i had when this song came out . i was so in love with her it broke my heart when we broke up . i wish her all of the happiness in the world where ever you are now . we had a dog named nakita
Those good old days are forever gone. Only thing we have left is their song that we all keep in ourselves. Dam life was so much easier, happy, less hectic, care free, don't need alot of money and people are just much more happier compared to today where everyone is in each other's throat trying to come up in life.
@gl0bal74 Reagan was a God send compared to Carter....lets look at your list....Threat of Nuclear war?......this threat still exists....Russia? Actually there was no Russia it was known as the USSR or Soviet Union.....Russia exists now....AIDS....no cure yet....crack...still around.....Poverty?......there are more poor people under Obama than any other president ever....yeah.....things have got so much better......LOL
You're a fool if oyu think things were better in the 80's than now. Reagan was a horrible president (Iran Contra, incompetant, senile) He raised taxes and increased spending. please get your facts straight. LOL
@gl0bal74 I think you need to do some research.....Reagan is famous for lowering taxes......democrats are your tax and spend party.......Odumba is letting the economy get in the sad shape that Carter let it get in in the late 1970's....Reagan is already rated as on of the top presidents of all time
It rally makes me feel relax every time I hear this song...

Those good old days are forever gone. Only thing we have left is their song that we all keep in ourselves. Dam life was so much easier, happy, less hectic, care free, don't need alot of money and people are just much more happier compared to today where everyone is in each other's throat trying to come up in life.

the 80's were no picnic. Threat of nuclear war from Russia, AIDS, crack, poverty. Reagan sucked but the music was good

@Jacobrester
you have fallen for a myth. Reagun cut taxes in 1982; then he raised taxes in 1982, 1983, and 1984
