This is not the beginning of this film. The uploader SweeneyToddKicksAss edited it out. There is a scene before the opening credits where a young Margaret is with two boys in a field near the cliffs. He takes out the "F" words but puts "Ass" in his YouTube name. Makes perfect sense dosen't it?
@SweeneyToddKicksAss Well, well, well. I comeback to Youtube after a few days to find out the fact that sweeneytodd kicked my ass. Oh how I hurt so much.
thank youuuuu!!!! I've been searching for this film for such a long time.. and then came to me the idea that it might be here aaaand there it ist because of you:)))) thank you very very much:)))
If you mean what's the tune you hear at the start it's "Chi Mi Na Morbheanna" or "The Mist-Covered mountains of Home" (there's an article on it on Wikipedia). There's an excellent version by Talitha MacKenzie on her 'Solas' album). This tune was also played at the funeral of John F. Kennedy.
It's also missing a scene at the start where Margaret is in a field as a child with a young boy, which is disappointing since I was the young boy.. haha
@ilovelovexo Honestly, it's very unnecessary for me to ask if it's Scottish or not. 1. This film is set in Canada; Scottish has more prominence in Canada, at least that's from what I observed (on the contrary Irish has more prominence in the USA) (correct me if I'm wrong). 2. this film features Scottish bagpipe!

@kimbaptise Why would I willingly take out a scene? Go buy it on dvd if you are that bothered. Prick.

A friend of the family met HBC in a B&B while this was being filmed in our province. She says HBC came down the stairs with her hair in curlers.

I'd watch this just to hear "Chi Mi Na Morbheanna" in the opening credits. It's a sublime and haunting hymn of nostalgia for the old country.

@mannixisle Totally agree, i hear this everyweres. The rankin sisters do it well

Why is the first scene of the movie missing? It opens with the scene of the museum and the terrified woman running out of it.
briantrash 2 years ago
It didn't include that scene on ym dvd unfortunetaly, it's a different region.
LaurenVonSpark 2 years ago
Interesting. I saw it on VHS, and it definitely began differently. I suppose the DVD is some sort of director's cut or something?
briantrash 2 years ago
I think it was, yeah, I was just happy to have the film anyway lol.

@ilovelovexo Is the song written in Scottish Gaelic?
Daan892 9 months ago
@Daan892 .Yes indeed it is.
DunkeldWandrerer 9 months ago
@DunkeldWandrerer Thanks. For me, it's quite similar to Irish Gaelic so I just want a confirmation.
Daan892 8 months ago
@Daan892 Yes it is, it's a traditional Scottish song about Scot immigrants' longing for their homeland
