Beautiful work. I only paddle centered and low in windy conditions. When it's calm as in your video I paddle from the stern. Very nice series of videos. Thanks for sharing what it takes to build a strip canoe.
just watched all your vids and was really impressed with your attention to detail and most of all your patience. i know for sure if i attempted this project there would be some interesting language coming from my mouth. congrats on the boat! thanks for the vids
Low on your knees in the middle of the canoe close to one gunwale or the other is a far superior paddling position when solo. Try it ... tons more control and stability.
I got started with a book called 'Canoecraft'' by Ted Moores, now published by Firefly Books (latest edition, 2007). I eventually diverged from his canoe building system, but I used his form plans for the Chestnut Prospector. The canoe is very stable and maneuverable in the water. Good luck with yours!

you are a very good instructor and enjoyed your video. how can i get plans for the form etc. looks like the canoe is very stable in the water also.
