  • The only thing that Obama has done for the black community is to increase the jobless rates for them.

    livlife. (period)

  • I love this video and the lyrics. It's great to see our generation express ourselves in our way. It may not be a march but we are mos definitely aware.

    Great job, Akili!

  • love the sound. such drama. fits the moment.

  • when do the painters show up???

  • I think Obama's win is more a sign of ever deminishing racism among whites, rather than an achievement of the black race, or even Obama himself. For instance, MLK was a man who faced much more adversity and was exponentially less tarnished by negative associates, idealogical backtracking and vague rhetorical grandstanding. MLK fought and accomplished much more than Obama ever really has. BUT, as great as he was there was absolutely no chance of MLK ever becoming president in his day.

  • Is Obama somehow capable of greater achievements than King all else being equal? Is there a greater substance of charactor among blacks of this generation as opposed to that one? Do blacks of this generation struggle harder than their predecessors? Is Obama somehow acceptable to "the same old white people" whereas MLK wasn't? I think not. What then had to have changed from then until now? I say it was a change in attitude of white people with regards to race that has made the difference.

  • It is a change of people in general...not just "white" people. It doesn't matter who is greater than who. Each struggle is a struggle within itself and time. Just because we aren't marching and doing sit in does not mean that the things we are doing does not equal to the progression of change. I'm not saying not to recognize the strength and character of those before us, that's where we draw our value and light from, but don't diminish our success now.

  • Each person plays a part in history...to pave the way for those to come. I wouldn't want my children to struggle through some things as I did, so I will pave the way for them and they will do the same, but I will teach them that what was given to them was not in vain and they must continue on in the journey. It was not meant for Martin to be President, that wasn't his purpose, but if he wasn't where he was suppose to be...Barack couldn't have moved into his purpose.

  • But when you say "our success" who is the "our". It's not like black Americans pushed Obama thru in spite of the opppositions of white Americans and can therefor claim some type of victory all to themselves. This generation of white Americans are much more open to the idea of a non-white prez, and that is the difference between today and the days of MLK. My point is that without the change in atttitude among whites Obama would not be elected no matter how much he was supported by black people.

  • everything about this is hot...diggin the msg, tee, & the vid...Akili you def did ya thang...everyone behind this keep doin what u doin

  • i love it, truly. the song, the video & the msg... lets make them moves yall.

  • I'm glad it sparks energy in the hearts of all ppl, especially young ones. Hearing that "Rock Abama" is President from my three year old neice always puts a smile on my face.

  • What's interesting is that his kids are more Black than he is. He is more White than Black, genetically speaking.

  • how is he more white than black genetically? with a kenyan dad and a white mother? i'd say half & half at the most... either way I don't understand what your point is. But, he's definitely not MORE White than Black by any means... "genetically speaking"

  • I WANT A SHIRT.....Like Real Talk...How Much?

  • This Is Hot

  • Yo Akili, you killed it on this one. You can tell you are very passionate on this subject.
