  • I've been studying the topic of weight loss for about 10 years now (I'm a personal trainer for a living) so I think I can shed some light on the topic.

    HOW TO LOSE FAT

    1) Cut out carbs in the evenings (eat "low glycemic" carb sources in the day).

    2) Choose the exercises that burn the most calories (NOT sit ups and curls). Squats, Lunges, Pull Ups etc. are great examples.

    3) Use the software and meal plans from FatLossCustomized. com

    4) Perform high intensity interval training.

  • Cunt.

  • you are shit

  • heý_í_fèél_sõ_lÒnêlÿ_tòDây

  • DOUG IS SHIT

  • I see this type of trainers in the gym all the time, they go to school never exersice and think that they know everything.

  • Seems like SOMEONE just found out that there's a word called eccentric. : P

But I have an even more eccentric personal trainer, so I doubt this man did any research before proclaiming that he's the most eccentric of them.

  • Better bend your Knees instead of your back Buddy..bad bad posture

  • He's good, but Max Outt is more eccentric.

  • He talks so fast my ears are having a hard time keeping up...

  • So... what's so eccentric about that guy?

  • this guy knows his stuff. All the negatives about him are by people who don't know there stuff. Then again...who cares.keep lifting like the pros and wait for the damage.Idiots.

  • idiot

  • learn to be less annoying

  • fuck oooohh

  • soooo gay

  • All talk! Dont see any muscle here....

  • Try heavy cheat curls with that technique! Not going to happen. Exercise this way for fitness yes, exercise this way in bodybuilding terms and your not going to develop your muscles to their maximum size and potential!

  • @chiplick

sloppy, over fast training is a joke. muscles grow from overload in a full range of fibres. as doug says, only half the fibres get worked if momentum carries the weight through the second half.

  • @mrvolax Tell that to the greats past, present and future. Larry Scott, Sergio Olivia, Arnonld, Franco Columbu, Coleman, Cutler etc, etc, etc. Same old story with these trainers, 10 yrs of university on "how" the muscles work, compared to the pro's that have 20 Yrs of actually trial and error. Each to their own I suppose.

  • @chiplick

    lol mate..

you're using examples of steroid assisted body builders with 1 in a million genetic make ups. nothing what so ever to do with real life training.

btw, arnold also believed dumbbell pull overs increased the size of your rib cage, which has bow been proven complete horse poo. infact most of the info you'll gain from flex magazine is a complete waste of time for non steroid based trainers.

  • my advice to you. never read a single page of flex or any similar magazine for the rest of your life. it will help your training so much.

  • @mrvolax Fair enough i guess. I use my self as a prime example, never would train like this guy suggests, but yet have built an impressive physique without drugs and also a pretty decent bench as you can see viewing my profile. Could I have built my body as well as I have using his techniques? I'd say 100% no. Fast movements also builds power/explosiveness. Show me one guy that has almost a 19" arm like myself without drugs and uses this guys training methods. I just don't believe it.

  • @chiplick

well first of all well done on building such large arms without drugs. a path, sad not many trainers go down these days.

i have also built a pretty decent size drug free. currently at 238 pound, 6 ft tall. while i don't go as far as a 5 second negative, i do always slow the negative to bring in the muscles full stength.

  • i end most sets with a long (around 10 second) negative rep. if you only go to the last concentric, then put the weight down, the muscle still has loads of stength left in it.

i don't agree with every letter doug writes, but most of his stuff is good. he's also correct that people neglect the nagative phase too much.

  • @chiplick Define a "cheat" curl and re-read your first sentence.Jesus....learn to lift properly and let the big guys worry about cheat curls.

  • Flagged as spam

    1 star

Wish they have zero fu*king star

  • Yep. As a PT myself it makes me cringe watching meat-heads over-compete with Isotonic weight training by throwing weights upwards.

I say got for the 2 secs concentric, 4 secs eccentric action. 3-5 is sound advice too though!

  • Just use trains or bands and you can train with high velocity, and get resistance for the entire range of motion.

  • Who else clicked this video because of that tag?

  • fatty

  • This guy is a massive screw-up. Eight second reps! WTF?

  • This guys such a dickhead honestly who does that, who can jus chat somuch crap with absaloutly no proof of gains

  • @domGster

if iam a biologist or a sport scientist and know how the body works ... why should i need muscles to teach you how to train right ? i mean i can tell you the earth is round without travelng around it

  • @dermatu yea but u dnt actualy know its round, ur only goin by wat others hav told u, If I wantd info about the world bein round then sum1 who had succesfully been round the world would be a lot more of a credible source. A sports scientist can do there research but theres no actual theory into practice. Sum excersises may look good in ur paperwork wen in reality they make inferior gains. Theory is so deep most of the advice contradicts other theories of gaining.

  • @dermatu u also gota remember alot of bodybuilders have invented there own excersises, this is cus they develop such a feel of how they gain, this makes them gain and may not work on others, this is cuz evry1 is differant, They all hav faverout excersises that hit the bodypart there focusing on the best , So if 3 differant bodybuilders have the highest gains from 3 differant excersises wich 1 would u teach?

  • @domGster

ok i get your point, i just dont understand why people bash on this guy in the video since the things he mentioned are true and common knowledge among sport scientists or trainers. but i understand your point now that for some people some different exercises are better compared to others ...

  • @dermatu the reason why people bash him is cuz he is to theory based. Take this video for example he says to preform reps slowly when infact that does have truth, there is also endurance and forced mass that can be put on through faster reps, obvously if ur only gona do 1 do it slow, but look at the pros they dnt train like this guy says and theres a reason for that

  • @dermatu

due to the oceans, the earth seems round.

  • @dermatu if you know that much about training muscles, it shouldn't be very hard to train.

He is just too lazy or stupid for that.

  • @dermatu i need a program :D

  • SECONDLY, if someone is REALLY weak, then they can use slow eccentrics to improve their strength, or simply for endurance or technical athletic skills like balance (which is not even entirely true, because if you use a heavy enough weight and are using explosive energy, your forcing your smaller muscle fibers to learn balance anyways). However this is rarely, if ever functional in real life, and its actually better to do fast eccentrics and try to forcefully stop the weight before neutral.

  • You need to learn more about how the neuromuscular system actually works. THERE IS NO WAY POSSIBLE that you can create more FORCE by moving slower. THAT is 100% defying the laws of physics. The Faster and harder you try to concentrically move your resistance, the more force output is required, when you move slowly, your not activating your larger stronger and faster muscle fibers, the ones with the most growth potential. Time to get out of your shell and learn some more.

  • This fella is really book smart, but lacks the Walk the Walk aspect. Where is the neutral spine power position when doing arm curls?

All in all, he makes a ton of sense though and he is right.

  • LOL this guys shitty videos only get a lot of views because of the images he chooses as thumbnails...

  • ...........

  • here he comes again in front of me,can anybody remove this scumbag?

  • Fuck you Doug, you fucking COCKSUCKER. Fucking skinny ASSHOLE, take ur fucking jacket off you Bastard

  • uma bosta

  • gain some wait fooouul

  • @gladpie69 learn to spell. Weight. You jackass.

  • What a skinny fucker. Take advice from a beer belly asshole. doug is shit

  • Dude take your shirt off. And let's see if your a carnivore.

  • This guy isn't practicing what he's preaching, he's all talk and no follow through

  • jueputa que gonnorhea

  • farkk....you fail so hard white boy

  • look at ur fucken body and why u think u given instruction to other take urself first????idiot

  • he might not be very muscular but he knows what he is talking about

  • true true true... ... so true

  • @5l4y3r That is just it, no he doesn't.

  • @5l4y3r and that is excatly the problem. the world is full of guys knowing what they are talking about, but SHOWING is better than knowing. obv this guy is a better woman (words/min) than a SPORTScoach.

Think about it. would u prefer a doug-bag speech with headache and NO visible effects or with a sports-guy doing his job intuitively perfect but could not put it in intellectual words?

  • good info

  • ianong that only goes for training that is for the sole purpose of muscle gain but if you actually want strength gain his is the best.

  • es una mierda manga de putos

  • you talk too much man

  • Firstly, if you were to do this with his form, you would end up with a sore back and neck.

Secondly, you will probably hurt your news esp since they are meant to be bent whilst doing this.

Finally, I don't think you are to take so long to pull up the weight. I was thought to curl up fast and release slower. After all the muscles are "trained" but the constant elongation and shortening of it. Taking a long time to "shorten it" just defeats the exercise.

  • EXACTLY like why is this dude haunched over?? ironic his youtube name is StandFirm.. uhm.. practice what u preach their champ, otherwise good vid? lol i guess :P

  • dudes come on. Even Arnie always said that u gotta do excercise very slow if u wanna train your muscles. That is the key word: MUSCLES.

  • ah filho duma ganda puta

  • fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

  • Comment removed

  • yeah what he is saying is totally right. When you move faster on the way up you are just using the weight... not the muscle and when moving quickly down you use the gravity as well as the weight instead of correctly engaging the muscle.

  • yeah hes right you fucking idiotic people who know nothing he is on about doing eccentic muscle contractions!!

  • lol i would hate to do curls with him leaning over so much, honestly please get this guy off youtube

  • Gay cocksucker

  • Im not sure about the physics hes trying to explain. There're tons of studies out there proving back and forth that faster exercises are better than slower exercises. Your best bet is to just mix up your workouts.

  • @mikeyab88

i think it depends on the person, like all things in live :D

  • Ya what I meant was that there's a lot of proof for both sides of the argument so you have to see what really works

  • yep i read some where fast reps= explosive muscles

    slow heavy reps= strong muscles

  • stupid idiot

  • the bubble comments in the video crack me up!

  • FAG!

  • what hes saying is actually legit, also most of the time each muscle group has another group that works in opposite ( bicepts-tricepts quads- hamstrings) so when you go slowly "down" you're working the other group as well

  • cocentric should be fast and expplosive.

  • He is not a bodybuilder and he never said he was, he is a personal trainer so stfu.

  • okay that was good.

  • you are a "ritardato mentale"!

    Fuck you, and your family!

  • this guy is a fag straight up with his ass fucking girl voice

  • blablabla.. If it worked you'd be bigger. You're not. You only talk a lot.

  • dont all machines have both an eccentric and a cocentric phase? ITS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO HAVE ONES WITHOUT THE OTHER.

  • He talks like, über-fast.

  • well, he's wrong on multiple fronts. first, you produce much MORE force when you lift it quickly, but only at the bottom. so, greater PEAK force. this has its uses as well, particularly for athletes or anyone interested in total fitness.

next, he gives a set tempo for all exercises. this depenends on the repetition range you are working in. for example, if you are working 4-6 reps, versus 8-10 reps, the low-rep set should have a slower tempo--it should also have more weight & longer rest.

  • ya you are completely right with everything. the only thing is, doing it slow does help you get stronger faster.

  • well you must have had success in the past with a slower tempo because it served to manipulate your TUT (time under tension). However, if you'd only adhered to TUT guidlines for each repetition range, you would have never needed to tweak it. please look up charles poliquin, dave tate, paul chek, and christian thibaudeau.......and john berardi, shelby starnes, etc. POLIQUIN IS THE BEST. HE'S TRAINED MEDAL WINNERS IN 17 OLYMPIC SPORTS! COME ON! he's the master.

  • lol ill make a note of that but ya you are right 100% just thought id point that out

  • FORGET this guy. look up CHARLES POLIQUIN, DAVE TATE, PAUL CHEK, CHRISTIAN THIBAUDEAU

    they are the REAL deal.

and why do i say forget him? see my next comment.

  • this guy talks out of his asshole.

  • He looks like a pedophile.

  • hahaha

  • cheater

  • get a life you fucking whore

  • fail..........

  • HUIJNA :d nerealii, pats wsp saplax ;]]

  • u cant say: it should be 2 seconds up and 5 secnods down. it all depends on what the purpose with the training is.... dont generalize pls

  • well... i mean what he said has some truth to it. slow movements are good and they build up more muscle... but i don't know about not doing full reps. that sounds like bull shit. if you don't do a full motion it doesn't work your body as much. full reps at a slower speed (not super slow but not really fast) in sets of 8 to 10 by 3 to 5 is supposed to be the best way to lift for professional fighters. but i guess it depends on what your lifting for.

  • This is embarrassing. No need for power at all apparently. Slow weak muscles are brilliant. Or in his case, any muscles would be a bonus.

    What a gimp

  • This guy is a pussy and snake-oil salesman!

  • im a better personal trainer then this mook

  • filho da puuuta vai c fuder com esse blablabla. seu boiola gringo!!

  • ve y chin..........tu moder solo ablas y ablas y nada de lo que se presenta eres un pendejo

  • i think he's quite good

he explains how it's working, and why you should do it, not just saying "do this and you'll get fit"

if you can't be bothered to try and listen and understand what he's saying, what's the point in watching the video? you might think it's boring but it ain't designed to entertain you, ffs

  • damed are you lame

don' u have friends or somethig to bore

  • Fuck you lama.This is ...

  • Lawl quit the negative comments, he's trying to teach you something. Dumbasses.

  • Triste, que eres un triste!

  • WAAAANNNNKKKKKAAAAAAA!!!

  • suck

  • umm... okkkk...

  • Why are all trainers rarely fit?

  • this way of trianing wasnt discovered by this trainer this is old from 1980, and there are many books that explian this theory,I did it and it works .

  • too many fat people complaining about him =P

  • haha

  • pinche catarro culeroooooo ya callate una maruchan

  • este hombre tiene que ir a un anuncio publisitario no deja ver nada es un pajuo

  • no muscle, no man, no life.

  • Too much to talk? FUCK YOU!

  • stoping speak

  • everybody knows this

  • HE LOOKS FAT XD!!

  • that's true! :D

  • it's solid info. And as a trainer myself I'd say 90% of people working out go too fast.

  • This guy pretends he's an expert and he's ripped and shit, he wears jacket cause HES A LITTLE FATTY, stupid scammer tryna make money off youtube AHAHA

more like most idiotic personal fail trainer.

  • I don't understand why some of you have such awful things to say. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything!! It's a preschool concept...don't you think you should know it by now? Wise up, be nice. He knows his stuff.

  • a callar

  • your bla bla... is not interesting.

  • i love how all this fuckin guys videos for the picture on the side bar are of people HUGE RIPPPED musscles and shit then you click on it and you get this dumbfuck

  • Ha ha. I'm glad someone mentioned that.

  • man u look so fag! u should get a real job not trying to make money over youtube ur a fag

  • why are people so nasty?! if ye dont like his vids dont watch and comment on them wow

  • I really like how much information he compacts into such a small video... it doesn't get boring

  • Try doing push ups slowly, you will do half as many as you could normally maybe even less.

  • Good point Serclfs.

  • stfu nerd

  • XD yh its hard 4 hem 2 hold up a plastick stick!!!XDDDD

  • its been proven lifting with greater intensity and speed will contract more muscle fbers, hence havbe more of an effect... So joe square jaw here is a dumbass

  • bullshit... you always contract the same amount of muscle fibers.. also he is assuming to talk to an audience that is very likely to hurt themselves when they do these excercises too fast.

Yes, I know that e.g. Bruce Lee did his exercises as fast as possible but that had more to do with the nature of the sport he did the excercises for.

  • lol, im taking kinesiology in university, believe me when i say that the faster and more powerful a contraction, the more myofibrils contract. its a fact

  • yes however keep ur negative slow under negative movements is proven to inccrease stimulus to the muslce to grow as u increase the muscles time under tention....this method is used by many bodybuilders and is very useful in building strength

  • ya negs are a totaly differant story, slow as possible

  • well, shove that up your ass and listen to that man. you might learn something. like that you don't lift weights as fast as you can because of the risk of injury. those are his words.

    geeez...

  • ya if you have bad form you can injur yourself with even a light weight
