I have use for the manure in production of biofuels, methane harvesting, algae cultivation and aquaculture. Eating the meat also eliminates its methane and carbon dioxide production. Eating vegetables from traditional farming is more harmful for the environment than eating of the meat. If tissue cultivation is added to the system you would need less livestock for more gain. Meat generated in bioreactors is the same as meat grown on livestock and all you need is a few seed cells ^_^

Most people work M 2 F, get drunk or go sightseeing and relaxing at weekend.

Community living wouldnt change that. All that would change is that youd pay the local farmer, the local builder, the local brewer instead of multi-nationals.

Each & every nation needs 2 become as self-sufficient as possible. Back to community living. i hear about these problems very often, but can not think of once having heard a viable solution. it seems to me that if some of the energy that went into making these repetitive "wake up" documentaries went into making some "try this instead" documentaries we might have actually seen some change by now. or maybe i'm just watching the wrong movies.

I appreciate the positive feedback. The truth is, no one likes to hear that overpopulation is the problem. It's always something else: war, fossil fuels, meat consumption, nuclear power, etc. People need to wake up. Is there a limit that they'd agree with? Is 15 billion too many? When will we face the truth that it's not HOW we are using our resources, it's the NUMBER of us using them.

Limodog has got the gist of the problem! The Original Sin of the human race was eating the forbidden fruit in Eden which made people "intelligent" thus enabling him to abuse the Earth and other animals with no natural rivals and thus over populated his own race.

God knew what will happen and therefore bade Adam not to eat it. But as always, man will not listen until coming face to face with disaster! That's the human destiny!

The problem is overpopulation, not meat eating or SUV's. We need to do something about the fact that there are almost 7 billion people. Like a virus, we're gonna kill off our host, planet earth, and in doing so, kill off ourselfs. Can someone tell me why the big players like Bill Gates are wasting money helping sustain overpopulation by feeding and medicating people, instead of doing something about the way we live and reproduce. It's time we face the truth, there are just too many of us.
