  • This is, by far, the best rendition of the waltz on Youtube... Thanks so much for this!

  • I love that tune, I rememeber my Grandmother singing it, although, our song is Carolian in the mornin. Truman loved it too, he played in on piano in thw white house all the time.

  • I found this a few years back. I just got a YT acct today. I have to say this is GREAT! I love it! I have tried to sound like you. Its fun to try. Thanks for posting it!

  • Iam from Missouri also & I think I still have the sheet music, I play the fiddle also & Im in Jefferson City a lot & I know you can find it there. I will check for you & see what I can come up with. Keep up the fiddle playing.

  • I really do like it when you give just a little history about a song. It brings the music to life and you play it so well. I am still trying to find notes. Ha, but, eventurally I will play. Keep on posting. :-)

  • Fine piece of fiddling Gary. 5 Star for sure!

  • I'm searching for the cords for this song. Our 9 year daughter is playing mandolin, fiddle and a bit on the bass. She is wanting to participate in a local fiddle contest...needing the chords for this song. I think it would be a good waltz to play...we live in MO.

  • @bluegrassgirlej Gimee a few minutes, and I'll put em up here for you. I'm outta town, but should be back in a few.

  • That would be very cool! Thanks a million!

  • this is awesome! Please could I get the tabs or the sheet music or the violin piece for the Missouri Waltz? Please????? My wife and I want to do a rendition of this song. And I cant find the sheet music anywhere on the web. Please??? If anyone has any sheet music for this please just contact me through youtube. Thank you Sizefam4.

  • Great old fiddle song. You've got that vibrato in there like a real violinist. You read notes?

  • @oldtimeway1 I do read a few notes. Thanks for stopping by!

  • I love this waltz...

  • Great job Deo Vindice

  • Very, very excellent! So smooth and flawless.

  • That is some very nice violin work. I'm trying to learn this waltz and picked your version from all available on YouTube because I think it is best.

  • lets go missouri lets go

  • Beautiful Job on this tune Gary, Thanks.

    Vitally

  • BTW Gray thanks for that information on the tune -- I knew somewhere I had heard it before -- was't this the tune that old Harry's daughter was playing on the piano and some reporter made the mistake of critiquing it!

  • This is a really fine tune! Thanks for posting it -- is one I've got to learn. Just great -- nice vibrato too.

  • Gary -- 1914. - These are the sort of waltzes

the young one's are working on getting here Now ! -- ie/ In ,Ireland + scotland -

    Great Post .. jim,,

  • sounds great gary!

  • Fine job Gary! I like the way you fiddle. You tend to play tunes as they were meant to be played without all the extras most fiddlers try to work into it. Good stuff!

  • OMG!!!! that was amazing... I've been playing fiddle for about 4 months now and I found you on here around a month or so ago. To make a long story short all the songs your play on here I'm trying to learn(slowly but surely of course). Thank you for your inspiration. I'm from the great state of Missouri and would love to learn this song on the fiddle but the problem is I cant find the whole song anywhere. I would greatly appreciate help with this issue. Keep that fiddle screaming man. You ROCK!

  • Are you hunting for the music to it? And thanks for the comment! I love Missouri and the great fiddle tunes from that area!

  • Yes. I used all my free music sources and can't seem to find the darn thing. If you could help me out that would be awesome.

  • @sizefam4 I hope I can live in Missouri some day. It is my favorite state..it so pretty!

  • Another of my all time favorites! Super job! Its such a classic and beautiful waltz. You even did the minor interlude that I've been tying to learn and no one plays anymore.

  • Thanks Alex! I know a lot of people leave out the second part, but I kinda like the second part in it.
