the pros of playing slide guitar in standard tuning are you don't have to relearn the neck and you can switch effortlessly between playing slide guitar and normal guitar.
the pros of playing slide guitar in any open tuning is you get plenty of chords and chord intervals to slide around with. however, unless you are already proficient with that tuning, you will have to learn how to use that tuning.
