I agree with rogerbacon88, a guy in my college plays this piece and only recently he started using a capo on the 2nd fret and boy did it make a difference
I can agree, but i heard this piece with a capo on the second fret to give it more of a lute sound and the guy played it twice as fast. Not saying fast is better but he play it so legato that it felt like a neural message.
I think this is actually a very good tempo for this piece, especially in the beginning sections with all of the points of imitation, I think that some people rush past some of the gorgeous polyphony.

Very good! Finally a guitarist who doesn't rush it and respect the poliphony! You can real hear all the voicings; good tempo choice!
