  • such an old mac

  • @TheMask180 This video was made in 2007!

  • Can someone help me? I made it so applescript opens when I login, and I made the command for finder to shut down. Now every time I log in, my computer shuts down. How do I stop it?

  • Holy crap, I just re-read my past comments here -- I sound like a complete retard.

  • I can't update my Mac 10.3.9 to a 10.4 how do I do that

  • @bakuliusangel500g buy the 10.4 install dvd

  • ok word of advice change your desktop picture and get a newer computer

  • The "suck" effect is an effect only for the placement of the dock on the left or right. The bottom does not have that effect. Adding it manually is the only way to select that option.

The zoom effect is nothing special. :/

Widgets on the desktop is a developer function for testing your widgets on the Desktop, without having to install it and then uninstall it.

  • slow mac..

  • I don't care for that music either but don't be such a fuck stick because it's not your kind of music. You need to get a fucking clue. Plus, the suck effect has to be enabled via terminal. Otherwise its either scale or genii effect in preferences. No shit you can hold shift to make it go in slow motion. If you weren't such a stupid redneck maybe you would've known that much. P.S. Don't watch anymore youtube videos, if all you are gonna do is troll. Newb.

  • OK. This is all commands in the movie: Suck effect: defaults write com.apple.dock mineffect -string suck and killall Dock next: minimize window and press shift at the same time, when window is slow minimizing, press enter in the terminal (killall Dock). next: terminal games: In terminal, type emacs (and press enter) after that, press X and ESC at the same time, then type tetris (or pong). next: Zoom the screen: use a roll on mouse and CTRL. next: defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES
  • @XboXC

Okay, sure these commands might work but eventually your Mac is going to crash, you cant hack into the system and mess with all the original settings without screwing your computer up in the long run. I have a Mac and my dad helps build Macs, he knows what he's talking about. Your paying all this money for no reason if your going to mess with the system.

  • font fucking sucks!!!

  • nice song, use bigger font . FONT IS TO TINY!!!!!=(

  • Thanx!

  • cool, i like song

  • ok i found out what he was typin! for the dock crash thing: open terminal and type KillAll Dock (dont press enter yet) hold down shift while minimizing a window to slow it down. quickly go back to terminal and press enter

  • killall is the command for all unix-like systems (Mac OS X, BSD, Unix, Linux, Solaris...). Use this command for terminate all programs or proceses

  • how 'bout u use the zoom efffect on terminal so we can see wat u iz typin????

  • Press CTRL + scroll mouse

  • rofl he's telling YOU to do that.

  • dummy... its not like it helps us to zoom in -.-

  • @XboXC duh

  • @XboXC

  • @sahsidtf Cus he is to stupid 2 he thinks we can see it but hes to fucking retarded to know that

  • Useless, pointless, stupid. Etc Etc Etc.......

  • lol... this is crap...

  • video is terrible

  • shit video

  • rofl it's not even a real domain.... your site sucks.

  • what the hek?????

    ;)

  • you macs glitching.

  • Can't see what you are typing

  • for first ust hold shift and click minimize

  • ANY USEFUL HACKS?

  • your desktop is messy

  • the words/commands would be nice....

  • can you post the scripts in the sidebar

  • actually i've never had that problem before

  • ok dude i fully zoomed in on this vid till i can see like 1 pixel but i still couldnt see the words

  • What are you typing

  • dude you suck at tetris

  • On my mac, hold down the shift key to make the page minimize slowly. I have a late 07' macbook.

  • okay. what do i do to get the dashboard widgets on my desktop. also, try holding control + option + command and then push the number 8. It turns your screen inverted. have fun

  • lol thats cool

  • whats is up with that annoy music!! you may want to looking into i tunes...

  • nice music!

  • thats cool well my school has 3 accounts

student, teacher and then admin is there any why i could get the admin password and the have blocked the terminal and all the main programs but the enternet and that bugs me so if you can make a video on how to get a admin password on a limited account that be cool

  • Insert a Install DVD (Mac OS X) and select the "Reset password" in menu.

  • why would you want to do that? do you have any idea how much trouble you will get in?

  • None at all?

  • hahahahaha!!!

  • what do u type on terminal to get the games?

i can't see a fucking thing ur typing.....

    btw, VISTA SUX ASS!!

  • I typed

    emacs

    and after command:

ESC + X (first is not effective, repeat 2-3 times) and type

    (eg.) tetris

  • i have a mac and vista and they both rule actually the mac has more diffuculties the vista so STFU AND GO BACK ON UR BANANA BOAT

  • how do you do the dock crash?

  • No. The Dock is not crash, but restart (killall Dock). This command work too on Linux.

  • don't u just hold shift, then minimize??

  • thats what i do

  • * Dashboard AND minimize-animation tricks

  • That was awsome

I recieved a MacMini with Leopard

I'd love to do those dashboard minimize animation tricks, but I cant see what you're writing in the terminal.

I have some Linux background (just a tad).

Can u plz write what u wrote in the terminal & how it affects the system?

    P.S.

The "man g++" doesn't work on my system...

If u have ANY idea why... as a mac\linux user... I'd appritiate the help [:

If not.. then lets just go back to what you wrote there genious :D

And 10x for the video! ^-^

  • The video present a Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), not Leopard (PowerPC), so "g++" is not in your computer (propably).

  • thanks dude what software are using

  • Whats terminal? how do u get it

  • Mac OS X is Unix system.

The terminal (unix console) is in /Applications/Utilities folder

  • What is the cone in your dock?

  • VLC Media Player. It is a great media player available for Mac, Windows, and Linux.

  • You also have the dates of Tolkien's Middle earth in OS X Tiger. It's pretty cool. :) I checked it out the other day.

  • your desktop is messy lol

  • Yeah, I know:D:D

  • To do the suck effect all you have to do is hold shift and double click on the app =P

  • dude dont use terminal it meses up ur computer. it can wipe out ur whole hard drive dont use it.

  • aden2823 - Terminal isn't for everyone, but it's perfectly safe if you know what you're doing. You should be careful, but telling people that it's going to hose your system is ridiculous. Most people wouldn't have the slightest idea what commands to type to accomplish such a thing anyway. The command he's using, "Defaults", should definitely be used cautiously. If you Google this stuff you'll find it to be very useful indeed.

  • yeah that is ridiculous ... i can get around not very well but i get places in terminal ... i don't think it is even easy to wipe you hard drive from there ... play around in the terminal it is pretty fun *** but if you still feel like being a pussy about it *** check the command to wipe your os and or hd and then don't type it in ... big stumper isn't it

  • sudo rm -rf/

    thats your stumper :P

  • aww man i accidentally typed that in .. shoot

  • lmfao

    thats amazing

  • Sure, if you type sudo -rm +rf into Terminal, you can wipe your hard drive out. Usually, unless you learn some command line, you really don't need to be in terminal, but I've played around inside of it. It's not dangerous. Just don't type something you don't understand.

  • I not use "sudo" command.

First, I login to root ("su" command).

  • Yeah, you can do that too, eh? Well, I got a question. How do you memorize all those commands if you don't need to use them in the first place? I mean, DOS commands were easy to memorize, because we used them often. If you don't use them that often, it's difficult to learn all the commands and be fully mobile in a command line atmosphere. Honestly, I think command line is slowly but surely passing away. If Ubuntu had just one thing that impressed me over the OS X equivalent, I'd use it more.

  • Well.

All commands i have in text file :D:D

And I print those commands, before record the movie.

  • LOL That's cool. Makes it a lot easier. I hear Bluefish is good for programming. I got it. What's the best open source C++ compiler for Linux? Do they even have one? Now, that would be worth using Ubuntu for.

  • Best compiler for Linux?

    Hmm...

    I'm not sure, but i think - g++?

  • Is g++ freeware??? You don't have to pay for it, right?

  • Awesome! It is FREE! That's the bomb!!! Thanks man!

  • I installed g++ on ubuntu and even the extra stuff. Now, how do I run it on Ubuntu? Does anyone know? I'm new to programming on Linux, so I need a little help here. Been using xCode on the Mac and Microsoft stuff in the far past.

Does anyone know the sudo command to launch g++ in terminal?

  • Type the "man g++" in terminal. This is help.

In my Mac - I typed only g++ (in normal account - not root).

  • Thanks. Appreciate it. :)

  • Can you list the codes for the terminal that you used?

  • how do u do it?

  • thats lame...too much work...you can just hold shift when you are minimizing and vice versa...it also works for expose feature too...

  • That's cool. Where's the Hack to make the music not suck?

  • I can't read that tiny print!

  • Explain how you do the stuff. Gawd.

  • if you hold shift, it slows things down. the coolest is minimizing

  • it would help if you told us how to do that stuff

  • you're a bad tetris player ^^

  • What do you want?

That is tetris. Normal tetris game in console.

  • Tetris in Terminal, thats new.

  • thats soooo gay all you did was slow mo it up in i movie

  • no you hit shift when you minimize...

  • yeah! this vid just shows off srry this vid is not even a trick sry hey XboXC - i've done that couple of times.

  • hey, are you retarded?

  • no you didn't ass hole, the suck in affect can be found in tinkertool, tinkertool allows you to dosuck in or anything you want and allows you to quit finder and put the dock ANYWHERE YOU WANT even at the top

  • can't you just hold shift and open something that has been previously minimized and it will come up slowly?

    good video btw

  • no he used an affect, but instead of using terminal he should use tinkertool and save the trouble

  • does anyone know how to shift between windows in an application, like between conversation windows in msn messenger, only using the keyboard. i already know how to shift between apps (cmnd + tab)

    thanks

  • Command tilde

This is the tilde character ~

  • u have just made my life much easier!! thank you..

  • to change to an nother open window press shift, i found it out messing

  • what did u type for the suck effect

  • defaults write com.apple.dock mineffect -string Suck

    then:

    killall Dock

  • you can also just hold shift

  • PING PONG IS what you tiped for that game right

  • No. I typed only PONG.

  • jeffreyjou1:

Yes, but these tricks are hidden.:D

  • whats the command for the block game in terminal? i cant see

  • in terminal:

    emacs

    Now press ESC+X

    then type

    tetris

  • can you do it in tiger on an iMac?

  • yyy... What?

I don't have iMac. This is created on Power Mac G4 with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) - full version 10.4.11.

  • It said emacs... up top. I was wondering how to do the tetris in the terminal in tiger.
