  • is hair a problem? guess not everybody's soap-scum smooth.

guess gartnavel, 9t9t3 and droopsack never heard of "turtle soup"

    (vasolene for those india-nuts?)

  • hair?

  • fagin has a jewish accent

  • fagin has a jewish accent

  • How can there be a single dislike of this? :/ Unless that person comes forward with an opinion, their observation is not valid!

  • The new Fianna Fail add campaign video for the general election.

  • @revealing1979 LOL " all my dearest companions have always been villains and thieves"

  • Jonathan Pryce was better in my mind...

Its only because Moody was the first, and because its such a great character with great songs, that people believe he is the best!

  • @sonicx666 Jonathan Pryce was unfortunately too late in the role. Every Fagin from now on will be rated against Ron Moody and if they don't measure up, they won't succeed. He epitomised the role. He was Fagin. Any actor following it knows this and knows they have to match or do better. Jonathan Pryce didn't.

  • Is Fagin Jewish? :-)

  • @DroopSack No, Atheist

  • @atlantoon

He is of the Jews, is he not?

  • Did you know?.......How to Win Friends and Influence People..........is the title of a book published in the 1930s.

  • this was on tv before and this song has been playing over and over in my head like a broken record... but oh well its a really good song

  • I'm tired of of thumbs upping people saying this is the best fagin ever....

    but he is...so...

  • He was the perfect guy for this role. I love him!:)

  • I love ron moody!! for me its the hand movement he does when he says "reviewing the situation" its absolutely genius!

  • Best. Fagin. Ever.

  • This has been stuck in my head ALL DAY!

  • their will never be a fegan like him he was the best :)

  • You can't do this scene without the owl. We should put it in the show. Director conference pending.

  • This is a the best song in the movie!!!! There will NEVER be a better, greater Fagin!!!!

Thumbs if you think so too!!!

  • the finger she would wag at me hahaha XD

  • The owl's expression at 4:15, in response to Fagin's question, is priceless.

  • my dad used to sing this to me at bed time when i was little xD

  • i'm from california, but omg i love the brits

  • @mrstrongist we love our colonial cousins aswell lol

  • @mrstrongist We love you too. xD

  • @TheLadyReye awww thanks darling. I hope I can go to the UK sometime and meet all the great people there, especially because of the Olympics^^

  • ahh, i love all the oliver songs, i HAVE to listen to all of the songs otherwise i feel depressed! awsome video :D

  • Kudos to whoever was playing that klezmer!

  • I first saw this movie when I was nine and always loved this song. I remember one time was I given the type of gloves where the finger parts are cut off and there is a mitten flap you can put down instead so that if you need to use your hands for anything you can do so without taking your gloves off. Anyway, I loved putting the flap down and wriggling my fingers and singing this song, pretending I was Fagin.

  • @allpossibleworlds

lucky! i wish i have those gloves !!

  • I am hoping to play Fagon in this years play at a school. It would fun because of this song. He also gets a box of shiny objects. Ooooooo-aaaaaaaah

  • @BazinglyLewis

    Good luck!!

  • I love this movie but I didn't want Nancy to die!!! D'=

  • @CrazyCutesie

    neither did i :(

  • i fuckin hate music based movies but Oliver! only because of Bill Sykes and Fagin is cool

  • Okay screwed up last part, but the words are there. :P

  • PART 10 I don't want nobody hurt for me, Or made to do the dirt for me. This rotten life is not for me. It's getting far too hot for me. Don't want no one to rob for me. But who will find a job for me, There is no in between for me But who will change the scene for me? ...I think I'd better think it out again! Hey! (Whew - Done)
  • PART 9

    I'm reviewing the situation.

I'm a bad 'un and a bad 'un I shall stay!

    You'll be seeing no transformation,

But it's wrong to be a rogue in ev'ry way.

  • PART 8

...I think I'd better think it out again.

    What happens when I'm seventy?

    Must come a time...seventy.

When you're old, and it's cold

And who cares if you live or you die,

    Your one consolation's the money

    You may have put by...

  • PART 7 I'm reviewing the situation. If you want to eat -- you've got to earn a bob! Is it such a humiliation For a robber to perform an honest job? So a job I'm getting, possibly, I wonder who my boss'll be? I wonder if he'll take to me...? What bonuses he'l make to me...? I'll start at eight and finish late, At normal rate, and all..but wait!
  • PART 6

    All my dearest companions

Have always been villains and thieves...

So at my time of life

I should start turning over new leaves...?

  • PART 5

"Good morrow to you, magistrate!" Oh gawd!

...I think I'd better think it out again.

So where shall I go -- somebody?

    Who do I know? Nobody!

  • PART 4 I'm reviewing the situation, I must quickly look up ev'ryone I know. Titled people -- with a station -- Who can help me make a real impressive show! I will own a suite at Claridges, And run a fleet of carriages, And wave at all the duchesses With friendliness, as much as is Befitting of my new estate...
  • PART 3

...I think I'd better thing it out again!

A wife you can keep, anyway

    I'd rather sleep, anyway.

Left without anyone in the world,

    And I'm starting from now

So "how to win friends and to influence people"

    --So how?

  • PART 2 I'm reviewing the situation Can a fellow be a villain all his life? All the trials and tribulations! Better settle down and get myself a wife. And a wife would cook and sew for me, And come for me, and go for me, The fingers, she will wag at me. The money whe will take me. A misery, she'll make from me...
  • @Vengeance31, ok but you completely left out the line "and go for me and nag at me", the finger she would wag at me....

  • @nostalgiajunkie70 I noticed that, hmmm someone needs to put this song in Typography.

  • PART 1

    FAGIN

    A man's got a heart, hasn't he?

    Joking apart -- hasn't he?

And tho' I'd be the first one to say that I wasn't a saint...

I'm finding it hard to be really as black as they paint...

  • Should try posting lyrics.

  • Options- Like a G6 is only possible if Krystle says yes- If she says no- then we ask Tifffany- she comes alone- Mr. Mistofolees has no #8 at this hour.

  • My choir did a melody of this movie in High School and we were nothing compared to Ron Moody's. He is the best Fagin ever.

  • Fuck that Ky shit- I must have been drunk- take the judgments of Isaiah instead

  • 1 person needs to review their situation

  • @ohhhhitsnina LOL!

  • I was Fagin in a school play... I didn't compare to this legend, no way XD

This is my favourite song in Oliver! by a long way, amazing act :D

  • .. and get myself a wife!

and the wife would cook and sew for me and come for me and go for me and go for me and beg at me the finger she would wag at me the money she would take from me! a misery she'd make from me ...

I think I'd better think it out again!

So true, I always loved that part =D

  • @RBailley, he is not saying BEG! He is saying NAG!!!!! To Nag someone means to constantly bother or pester or complain to someone. You also will notice that NAG rhymes with WAG.

  • 'somebody! Who do I no? Nobody' legend xx

  • 3:53 is that a noose?

    Nice direction.

  • @retroecho I belive it is

  • gosh, i might be fagan in a production but living up to the Ron Moody role is too much!

  • My roommate always sings this song at random times. Apparently it gets stuck in her head...a lot.

  • I love this song thank you soooooooo much

  • I hate musicals, and when I say hate I mean HATE!

But Oliver is one of favorite movies of all time. I like every song in it.

I never get tired of it.

  • @QualityControlTV almost completely agree, Bugsy Malone aint too shabby

  • I think in someways this song and its reprise are my most favorite in this movie, in part because I'm at Fagin's age now and so I can appreciate the train of thought.

  • THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A QUICK ANSWER TO THE FATE OF JAESON AND MEESH- THEREFORE- THE 4:31 IS ALSO OFF THE TABLE- THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE RE0 THOUGHT ANYHOW- RIGHT NOW- WE HAVE A G4 AND NO WORD ABOUT JAESON AND MEESH EVER COMING BACK SO THIS IS WHAT WE KNOW FOR NOW- WE HAVE A NEW G4

  • @CrazyLoverHaHa what the HELL are you talkin about?!

  • Although in the book Fagin is hanged, I still enjoy how the actor playing Fagin made his character very fun to watch. ^_____^

  • His physicality is brilliantly delicious to watch.

  • great song and very funny

  • Hehe

  • Fagin is played by ron moody (also sings a few of the songs in this movie) who is perhaps the grearest actor to have played fagin!!

  • who's the person singing the song?i want the full name!

  • @eltonforlife ron moody.

  • Fagin's kinda wierd-looking. He sounds Scottish at some point, when he's talking 'bout a boss, like MichaelaBalazs0 said.

  • Best part: "I'll start at eight and finish late at normal rate but wait, I THINK I BETTER THINK IT OUT AGAIN!!!"

  • one of the basses in my choir is singing this song for a choir exam. we all got to pick our songs a little and I'm singing 'Don't cry for me Argentina' from Evita but it will be fun hearing him singing this song because this is one of my favorite musicals. :)

  • every single song and character made this movie! iwithout that it wouldnt be the greatest muscial ever made!there isnt a scene out of place a person or a song! if your gonna be a critic! do it properly! lol

  • This is the best song in Oliver! i think.

    ;] i just love fagan

  • @iLoveDrSpock its true it is the best song - which is saying a lot because i love EVERY song in this movie which is a huge surprise cuz really now - how many of us fast forward thru some songs in musicals that are either boring or unneccessary?

    *crickets*

    just me? oh.

  • Doesn't "Oliver" expose how very ordinary modern musicals are. Most of them have one decent song, and some none at all. Every song in "Oliver" is a bona fide winner!

  • best song in film.

    best actor in film.

    best scene in film.

  • Too true, too true.

  • @purpleTerath

I totally agree! always loved this song!

  • Best musical ever filmed, and Ron Moody is a big part of the reason. Wonderful.
