  • being pakeha, you really have no business getting this tattoo. It's still the same form of documenting your lineage/mana, and the imagery that represents these things is very particular to maori culture. Plus, you were a fucking pussy about it. Especially considering forearm tattoo's are amongst the least painful

  • Fucking benders!

  • haha are those gang patches at the start? All i read was TOA

  • Yay! I love the Moko, I'm getting mine soon.

I love how they tell the story of your ancestors and heritage. However Ta Moko's are not to be confused with Kirituhi. Kirituhi look similar to a Ta Moko but they are a reflection of the wearer rather than the wearers heritage, also Ta Moko requires Mana, earning of respect and honor from your Iwi. In my opinion, the Kirituhi and Ta Moko are both just as beautiful.

  • oo shame the gun doesn't hurt go to samoa and get the taptap

  • my ancestory is maori and no one tells the truth on how the moko isnt just maori the natives on easter island also wore a moko but we wont teach that in schools cos then it cannot be copy righted an souly owned buy the maori but they would lead you to belive that we came from hawaii WHAT EVA or inventing a written languge which was Souly a spoken languge an lets base it on the french languge WTF go to wellington musem an check out the shunkin heads what do I know im just a stupid POOH SKIN LOL

  • @staceyquayle It's Hawai'i not hawaii....And yes Maori came from Hawai'i.

  • maoris were canabails! hence the hungi an ive never seen a hawain moko yet easter island has proof of ground ovens an proof they wore moko an where did all the inhabitants go from easter island a fuckn space craft I know my ancestory it aint half way round the world fool coz there aint no fuckn maoris in australia an there aint no fuckn hawains in oz belive what you want cos a waka dont look like no traditional hawaian sea kyak an I didnt know the hawain ate one another!

  • @staceyquayle Ok....You must ride the short bus haha.

  • @HaVVaiianVVarrior lmao could be worse atleast im no brain washed american native slave of capalism who thinks theyre a warrior fuckn grass skirt conformist go pick a fuckn pineapple roflmao I surpose your gonna tell me the hawaian evented the haka nxt just because your fat black an ugly that dont make gentic relations between to cultures What I surpose egg yokes are yellow because your fuckn school book says so in reality there fuckn orange but your gonna argue hummf!

  • @staceyquayle LOL i'm not the uneducated one here, who's only making up shit either for attention or just for simply being a dumbass....I think it's both lol.

  • @staceyquayle What the hell are you going on about???

  • @HaVVaiianVVarrior HAHAHA

  • @staceyquayle We called it Hawaiki

  • north islanders used to raid the soulth island for slaves to cook and torment before the maoris the morioi where the true natives of newzealand but they wont tell the truth in the history books because the victor rather make you forget how evil they them selves where just to demonise the europeain for occuping there lands that themselves took buy force an ate the loser the MOKO was only reserved for Chiefs an warriors NOT FUCKN ANY tossa who thinks hes a tuff gang member LMAO

  • @shnNaynay lol your funnie I dont know what you where taught at school but it is a fact that the hungi was an oven to cook the enemy in until the europeain came an introduced pork into the diets of the natives

  • @ kain161718 - Oh believe me I wouldn't... I understand that feeling... Being Native American there are a lot of things people do & say that is Insulting to my culture!!! =) No Worries & a RESPECTFUL person!!! Thank for the comment though!

  • Pooh skin Niggers this black dick is unemployed but he gets paid to tat a face to me thats a job get off the dole you fuckn loser

  • @staceyquayle what on earth lol why would Maoris be cannibalistic?! Your on the wrong youtube channel, it's chinese who eat cats, then its Japanese who eat everything and then Thai people who eat dogs. Maoris were warriors who hunted for food we eat today. No need to get jealous because this man can draw and tattoo are. Not to say that only maori design is art because anything can obviously be art, and is art when it's a tattoo, even if it's just a quote!

  • Canabilistic Niggers go eat a naybours cat

  • I love New Zealand

  • Where is this Tattoo Shop?

  • can anyone get a moko tattoo ?

  • @littleBurger96 Hi just to answer your question, Yes and No, Maoris, those married to or part of a maori family can get a Ta Moko. Anyone else can get a maori tattoo but it doesn't carry the same meaning culturaly. It will mean something to the wearer not to maori. It is called a Kirituhi.

    Hope this helps :)

  • @drtyda thank you, also if you liked one you had to spend time with the artist, a year or so. Is this true ?

  • Oh man this would be a honor to have a Maori tattoo and done by a Maori! I have some pretty big pieces all filled in and colored!!! I think I will have to make my way to NewZealand to get inked!!! =)

  • @MissEdaQueenB dont get a maori tattoo if your not maori its kind of and insult

  • PUSSY ! try to make a tatto in the ribs!!

  • I hate it when non maori's get trible tats (namely white people) cos its traditional for maoris not whites and tongans think they have an upper hand to it to, im half Aussie and Moari and i barely know my maori side and its culture just Aboriginal and Aussie tradition sinnce its all i got to learn but hey its in my blood.

  • @Eshayzbra96 i feel your koreko but umm if u carry the moko well with pride and respect it i believe you earnt your moko. i know some Maori who wear it like nike u digg me it aint a brand and theirs heaps thats y i dont want one I wear mine on the inside I dont wanna disrespect moko till i deserve it

  • @Eshayzbra96 Heaps of white people are maori

  • @kain161718 Yeah like 20 generations down.

  • lõl_Í_feÊl_sõ_lõÑélÿ_tódÂy

  • can anyone suggest a tattoo artist in england thats good at doing maoris? ideally i want it done in new zealand but i dont think i can afford getting there so i want the best i can get in this country, can anyone help?

  • @934674 i dont think anyone can mate. its barely done in Australia but there are maoris who tatoo here

  • they didn't show the guy's tattoo at the end!

  • do anyone know who i can get the picture at minute 2:44 and whats the name of it? thx

  • @vikeyev yeah man i'm sure! truly a dying artform.

  • "Home of 'traditional' Maori tattoos", lol,Yeah, courtesy of a modern tattoo needle!!

  • @libanuiB51 yea obviously for hygiene reasons....

  • I don't like the line at the end: "why though, did he have to do it on me?" Buddy, you were just allowed to experience one of the most beautiful and sacred cultural rites the world has left to offer. I would gladly tough out that needle for a few hours to be a part of the amazing heritage that is Moko.

  • @spockenstien I can't wait to get one, but I want it done the traditional way with the uhi. VERY hard to find people who still do it.

  • well the matter of the fact is the maori's didn't allow themselves to be colonised by the british, fought them and won. what other native people can hold that claim?

  • @stainsbflowin The Welsh :) Cheers!

  • @stainsbflowin ... They were lucky enough to be colonized later than other first nations; if had been sooner it would've been the same story. Or if they hadn't signed the treaty of Waitangi the French would've come and screwed them over completely (rather than just partly).

  • @stainsbflowin japanese

  • ttp://ebonom12033.tattoodesignhelp.info/

  • 0:28 how ironic the first image shown is samoan motifs. No big deal Maori are Polynesian anyway and descended from these older cultures.

  • I miss the SHUFFLE option youtube had a few days ago.. Now, I have go through my vid playlists in ORDER.. Anyone else find this inconvenient???

  • @MATUSOWNED

Not for me personally, I haven't really used the shuffle to be honest.

  • best tat designs in the world!

  • Those tatts are badass. But I thought traditionally it was done with a bamboo reed that was tapped into the skin over and over?

  • @subliminill bamboo in NZ???

  • @pokehimon there is bamboo in NZ

  • @subliminill its whale bone..

  • Oh god I miss new zealand :/ Im getting mine soon though I love my culture

  • look at his long nails! thats disgusting man

  • fuck man, i'm sixteen and i'm up to two tattoos, and i was disappointed with the fact it didn't hurt as much as i thought they would.

  • chur brothers!!

  • Moko? Means "silly bugger chew leaky "biro" & sneeze bro'!

  • bummer 90 percent of people live by brainwashing religion and not inner spirit

  • @treyjohn18 what do u mean religion? moko is not a religion its part of our Culture. our ancestors had moko and was about their whakapapa (family tree) , stories. it is not a religion if thats what u ment by your comment.

  • @Flash13FLy haha nono bro, when i say religion im talking about Christianity, catholic, Muslim religion etc, and the insane way people view them now. They have made us more inhuman throughout human history than just about any other form of segregation. It would be nice if more people today would understand thehistory and way native culture had lived (and still does for many) for the best of the world instead of our superficial ways we live by today, most are tearing us apart.

  • @treyjohn18 ok lmao . i just got confused...u are so right bro.

  • @treyjohn18 thats true

  • @treyjohn18 so fucking true man

  • Man,thats amazing.Even if its not my culture,i find it fantastic.

Can someone please tell me about the tattoo the guy to at the end of the video?Whats the name and meaning of the symbol?

    Thanks a lot!

  • @byLivio Bro it definitely wasn't Māori.... There was a distinct lack of whakapapa up in there... and by the way for anyone reading this; the "moko shop" is not the home of "traditional Māori Moko". The host is taking the commercial route instead of looking into the whakapapa of Taa Moko.

  • luv Inia!

  • the Moko what can i say

    New-zealand a Beautiful Place.

    Deep Culture.

  • @VK4LA Cheers,mate !!! {:)

  • @VK4LA Deep culture my ass.

  • respect us maoris when yr in front but wen at home editing yr video talk shit on here gaybo

  • @snooprobby tru that cuz theres some gutless f..ks hiding behind their comp screens talkn shit...stop dwelling on the past?look to the future?funny he say that cause the past is now catching up on the f..ks that came to Aotearoa and stole land...its slowly and surely being givin back to the rightful owners and only after a fight to get it...and look to the future? Our tamariki are our future no need to look they stand before us!!!cher cuz!!!!

  • They do theirs like we used to do ours in the Southeast, except the designs have more swirls. Our Cherokee patterns are coming back, and I'm glad you kept yours in NZ too :D A Cherokee one shows what clan you come from.

  • its good to hear your cherokee clans are bringing back their traditional patterns. its interesting to note that whiteman liked to copy our arts of tattooing but make us feel like a criminal gangsta for wearing our traditional ones. does the cherokee have facial tattoos?

  • Maori people you are a colonized people, colonized by Europeans. Too many of you have your Maori lips firmly planted on the white man's ass or you bend over and let him turn you into a souvenir to sell to tourists.

Only cowards and slaves shrug their shoulders while foreigners fuck you up the ass and steal your land and your pride.

I've been to "NZ" many times and each time Im disgusted by the cowardice of the Maori men who can't grow a pair of balls to confront the white man.

  • Yet another example of the ignorant American, people. This particular genus of the American species is usually male and thinks itself superior to all other species. In reality it is often slow, stupid, and incapable of rational, open thinking. It is a genus largely mocked and destested by all others, and the one responsible for giving the american species a bad name.

  • big words from some fag behind a monitor.

  • The truth hurts.

  • They are friendly people and there's nothing wrong with sharing land since they're not oppresed or anything. They don't have to be ignorant fucks like the middle eastern people and blacks in america you fucking sand nigger. Globalisation will get rid of scum like you one day.

  • amazing

  • stop talking shit everyone

  • Truth??? and Justice??? 101... LOL

What do you know? Where are you from? America? Africa? Europe?

Do you think we want to listen to, or can't see through your hating bullshit?

All of what you have mentioned is far from reality because you know nothing of OUR cultures here in Aotearoa... that is New Zealand by the way, Land of the long white cloud, Gods own.

    Keep your hate to yourself.

  • wow truth and justice you dont understand the situation at all.

maori men were feirce warriors, who lived violently constantly at war with one another over land power and women. (sounds familiar)

what you need to recognise is that the "warrior culure" you speak of, no longer applies in modern life. its no longer relevant.

    your a fucken idiot.

  • Being at the top of the food chain, humans are the only species that self predatate - its part of evolution. In closed eco-systems, the small islands violent conflict is how that is manifest. BTW, Europe had the same kind of violent tribal confects too - watch Braveheart.

  • also, we are not the only species that self predetates (if thats even a word) at all. from ants to monkeys to lizard and fish. almost all animals on earth compete against their own species constantly for power and mating rights. this is how evolution works. the superior animals out perform their peers and mate more successfully and the others become genetic dead ends. trouble is we keep the inferior genetic lines going with medicine nowdays so the world is overpopulated with sick inferior humans

  • But, in the modern world humans are not in competition with or preyed upon by other animals - they selectively kill each other. Ants', monkeys, lizards and fish for the most part are preyed upon by other animals that select them for survivability. I take that back, I think sharks are the only other species that self preditate - I'll have to look into that!

  • well you should look into it. you'll find most species kills others within its own species sometimes. humans killing one another is all for power lands and control. total domination. a lion overpowers another male lion and moves in on its victims family. he firstly kills the other lions cubs and then mates with the female himself. this is his instinct to continue his own genetic line, our behaviour is an exagerated version of this. warlords and presidents, fighting for power, land and pussy.

  • In everyday life, humans are not killed or eaten by other animals; most likely killed by another human. Most other animals are chased, preyed upon and killed by multiple other animals. Back in Africa, this preditation by other animals acceralted human evolution; todday, the selective killing of humans by other humans is the only evolutionary stressor making genteic selection on the human population.

  • yes i agree. what youve said is correct only its not the only stressor. there are a multitude of subtle social factors aswell. rich/poor attractive/unattractive smart/dumb. these factors may not cost a person their life, but they are certainly evolving into a genetic underclass. eventually when times become very hard even in western countries, these people will suffer and die and have difficulty reproducing. the "thouroughbred" humans will get through due to their gentic advantage.

  • Maori culture is being pimped and prostituted by Europeans 9white New Zealanders).

Moko tattoos were for WARRIORS. Are today's Maori warriors? No, they have been turned into WIMPS, COWARDS, PUNKS OF THE WHITE MAN.

Maori will be Maori until they revive their WARRIOR culture for liberation from the European colonists.

  • are you suggesting that maori could take back nz by force? its ridiculous. even the ruthless warriors that were the ancestors of modern maori couldnt cause a fuss for the all mighty white empire. whitey owns this planet even though we are a minority in the world as far as our numbers.

  • @tubestick RE: violence

No, violence would be a sure-fire way for complete annihilation. What I am talking about is CULTURAL warfare. Calling out the European colonizer's and their fradulent history of being civilized...their fraudulent claim to inventions before 1500 AD (most of technology came from Middle East and China prior to 1500)...

  • @tubestick I'm talking about Maori reclaiming their identity as the ONLY owners of "New Zealand" and speaking more intelligently about their history and the crimes of European colonizers.

The fact that Europeans are the greatest killers of Jews, Africans, "Native Americans", etc than anyone else in human history.

Changing the NARRATIVE is more powerful than an arsenal of missles.

  • actually africans are the biggest killer of africans. and the most brutal. the japs sided with hitler. they lost the war along with him. maori do speak intelligently about their history. sometimes. you really think european colonisers are any worse than anyone else? its all human nature. all cultures have commited atrocities mate. the chinese! africans! arabs?! turks? come on the list is endless. how about you start talking intelligently about something. that would be a start

  • If you go around your house and look at all of the technological artifacts laying around, with the exception of noodles, paper and gun powder - none were invented in China, India or the Middle East. Most of the modern technology was invented in Europe and America: industry, cars, telephones, tubes, transistors, microchips, microprocessor, computer and Internet.

  • Force is not necessary, the deadly 500 year tragedy of European colonialism is coming to an end. Native culture all around the world coming back. The time is coming when native culture will dominate the world again. We are better than them; we survive by our genes, culture and intelligence. Europeans have only technology and genocide. We cannot treat their descendants the way they treated our descendants.

  • whats your point? your comment doesnt make sense. when your sick where do you go? hospitals run by white people on a long history of white mans science to offer you cutting edge medical care. whos medicines do you take when you break your leg and the bone sticks through the skin? how can you even challenge the white maqns system when you take advantage of it and rely on it. you cant have your cake and eat it too. nz is the best place to live in the world and you should be glad we came here

  • The point is that colonialism didn't have to have the genocide component and the effect of destroying native cultures around the world. Most of the modern medical technologies you talk about happen within the last 100 years. Its the displacement rather than people co-existence and melding that is the issue.

  • now now. your starting to talk rubbish. there was no genecide perpetrated against the maori by white man. you should be thankful it wasnt the spanish that arrived here or youd have been slaughtered. the only genecide in the history of new zealand was perpetrated by maori against the original true natives to nz. they were slaughtered upon the maori's arrival here. so you cant complain because the tables were turned on you. stop dwelling on the past and look to your future.

  • Sorry just wanted to add i am no expert on Ta moko, nor do i pretend to be. My comments are just my opinion and are not intended to cause argument. ... :-)

  • I dont know what you mean about Euro Maori. Either you have Maori blood or you dont. I dont think its a question of "deserving" one, but its not something to be considered lightly. Ta moko is part of Maori culture. If your not Maori, then you seriously need to ask yourself why you want one, & for what reasons. I know people who arent Maori who have them, but i dont judge them for it, who am i to judge? But my personal opinion is that they should be for Maori only.

  • Euro-MAori, someone who has both maori whhakapapa and whakapapa from european ancestors. ie half caste maori etc...( to borrow an indian term)

  • we lear till the day we die cuz...

na te korero ka ako tatou t iwi maori, na te whitiwhiti whakaaro ka ako tatou. ahakoa nga ture o t pakeha, k a tatou tonu t rangatiratanga. fact cuz.

  • our culture is based on our traditions n customs how can these be adapted. our culture does not need to change to suit the time, if people r staunch about their kaupapa maori they will ensure every effort is made that our customs n beliefs r taught to future generations. n i think its sad u feel our culture needs to be adapted.

  • these can be adapted quite easily. as soon as maori got hold of new tech. they themselves adapted them to our new world. out with stone, in with steel. we changed ourselves prior to the annexation of nz by the new south wales govt in 1939. our culture has always adapted..

  • well u av yr opinion n i have mine as for me i prefer to keep to traditional customs. yeah anyone can get a maori design tattoo but that dont make it ta moko. i think u r confusing the 2.

tell me one thing adapting our culture to survive? wat do this mean?

  • becarefull about that statement. which traditional customs do you wish to keep? all of them? or do you want to adapt to the modern maori world?

if you wanted to do that then there would be serious consequences for you, especially when it comes to land and mana. if modern maori2009 were to be judged by pre 1839 tikanga, many of them would experience a great loss of mana and material possessions. why?

  • why? because mana 4 a block of land comes from a tipuna. that tipuna's mana is pased to the eldest to the next in line. that mana now belongs to a new person. pakeha then take that mana, put it in court and then reclassify that that mana. they spread the mana for a block to include a ridiculous amount of "share holders" cut that tikanga out, and mana reverts to tikanga maori. mana resides in the tuakana of the whanau, ie the direct descendant of the tipuna. modern maoris lose their shares.

  • every culture in the world has changed since the 1700's nations have come and gone, every culture in the world has changed. Maori culture is still maori culture. at no time have maori been without a culture. our culture today is dynamic. we are still trapped in a pakeha world unable to use our true mana, but not for too much longer...

  • eh, you got great points here cuz...my answer to that is.. euro maori? no different from tuhoe kahununu mix... whangai? perhaps if the person wants it.. via research? if awarded by a pouako, or tohunga as part of graduation from a maori learning institution. te reo? if you are a maori, lack of reo maori is not an issue. if you are tauiwi, refer to via research... naku noa na
  • eh? wot? i dont think so there cuz. ripping and slashing? nah cuz... hopefully you are wearing your own unique moko kanohi designed personally by a tohunga. we know who they are.

you are honoring their moko by wearing your own.

we are nothing but the living faces of our tipuna, we are them, thats our taon ga tukuiho, we have their mana, we have their rakau, we have their expectations and dreams, we have their hopes. i have my own moko kanohi, i wear it on the outside where it's supposed to b

  • oh well youve been taught differently from me. my kuia always told me in order to have a moko u have to have done or are a significant person for yr iwi (deserving part). and because a moko is a sacred right living a life with alcohol n drugs when u have a moko is desrespecting yr

    tupuna (the life style changes).

  • here you have a mix of new and old tikanga. the tikanga of drugs and alcohol is new and introduced. maori culture adapted and changed to encompass these new introductions. this is different to your statement about customs etc not having to change or adapt. "n i think its sad u feel our culture needs to be adapted." your kuia's tikanga was adapted to suit a new situation. it was changed.

go back again to pre1839 and most rangatira maori still had moko and drank.

  • n why do u think it was adapted, r u saying that alcohol has always been part of maori culture from the begining, n then it was decided it was not acceptable to consume impurities when u had a moko. from my understanding these substances were introduced through colonisation.

  • i dont really care why it was adapted, the point of the post was to say that it was changed in the first place, as opposed to your statement about it not changing and it not ever needing to change.

maori had drugs and used them often. probably the most potent ones were psilocybe subaeruginosa, mean as drugs which cause hallucinations etc...

we liked to get wasted and do stuff...every culture had a drug of some kind. kava in the islands, maori drank it 2. we consumed fermented sugars, kangapiro

  • but thnks for yr advice. with these new introductions of diseases now around il bee sure to always wear my shoes in the wharenui, n if it rains drink my alcohol n smoke my cigarets n my food in there to so my shoes dont get muddy. i guess adapting my culture to suit my needs does have sum benefits.

  • we never had shoes, let alone floors in our houses. taking your shoes off is an introduced tikanga. i guess pakeha didnt want to have the maoris dirty feet mess up their nice rugs.lol...

ngai tahu keep their shoes on in whare. they also feast in their wharenui. tikanga can and does change. its up to the maori to change it. kawa? does that change? ae. kei a tatou te tikanga ki te tini i nga tikanga o nehe ra. we did it when we came from the islands, we did it again when the palangi came here...

  • haha yr goodlike the way u throw back my answers at me.

  • sorry bout that cuz, just habit. im a cheeky bastard lol

  • all gud @ least i can av a debat wif someone intelligent n not called every name unda the sun lol

  • ta moko is so beautiful.

  • personally i dont think people who arent Maori should get Mokos or Maori tattoos. I am a maori myself...Each to thier own however if you really want it then do it.

  • its not a political statement, its m,y birthright and cultural right

  • Comment removed

  • ihve a question....

is it kool for someone who isnt a maori to get one of these tats?????

  • yeah but yours wouldn't be that significant unless you talk it over with the tattooest so he knows why you want one

  • damn good question i wondering the same

  • I wouldn't think so, but idk it depends on the person, maybe some NZlanders would think you're being silly, maybe some would appreciate it as you appreciating their culture and like it.

  • wat r u g on no one should have a moko if they have nt done sumfing significant in their lives. a moko is sumfing u have to earn, n when u do get one u have to make life changes.

  • ewwie

  • thats moko ink in aux aint it? he did carlos spencers moko 2???

  • I'v heard that if you get a traditional maori tattoo and ur not maori than ur disrespecting their culture

  • na thats not right

  • business are business dude

  • For all the people leaving shitty arse comments on here, why dont you come to New Zealand and check out the maori culture before you start dissin it, the maori culture is beautiful, so much mana our people have, mean maori mean, every ta moko has a different meaning and theres no two which are the same..... So do some research before you take the piss mafukaz (blah) pukana

  • I AGREE WITH U 100%

I come from Taranaki and a maori myself and if anyone wants to say something so foolish and don't have proof just say to them " we're the best so fuck the rest" okay?

well u don't have to say that in that way but if they respect the maori culture then u might as well say that because that is just disgusting aye.

    thanx for saying your word

    Kiaora

  • an who the fuk would u be mate sum up his dads ass ozzy that gives the rest of oz a bad name mate heres sum advice hav a shave a shower wipe the fog off the mirror and realise your a wanka take a strong rope go toa tree outside an hang yor sorry ass

  • i love moko

  • quit arguing about tatoos. they all have culture and differnt meaning about it. so there is no arguement there.

  • aye fuck you bitches fucken eggs better than you fucken ballheads your fucken tatts are fucken ugly mean maori hard muthafuckaz

  • whats wrong with being a panel beater?

  • that shit dont even look good , way overrated

  • I agree w/ plonker- the tattoo gun is not the way Moko should be done.

The old way that leaves scar tissue is still the best.

plus, Maori men were considered unmanly if they showed any sign of weakness or pain while getting the Moko.
