BC1 didn't take anything serious at all, it was filled with jokes and it was funny :P BC2 did have funny bits in it like the MW2 references (Sweetwater: No no no, they'd just send in some special ops douchebags with pussy ass heartbeat censors on instead of us!) but it wasn't as funny as BC1. BF3 is very serious, it's got a sad cutscene in it where the terrorists capture Miller the tank driver, and he gets his throat cut on camera, just before his sons birthday. And he'd bought him a toy dino!
