love the big girl mate, im in the process of looking for a turbo at the moment and the garret turbo you have in your ute has ticked all the boxes from me, but heres my probblem lol? what would be the best place to search to buy a garret gt2876r bb? need info about this turbo from ya champ it would be even better if i could speak to ya over the phone to find out exactly what you have done to be able to run this turbo at 20psi so if ya can send me a message through my email that ill send to you
ey mate, i think most of us would like you to give us some specs on how you made it all fit together. like an instruction manual lol. thanks mate, she shounds nice by the way.
how easy was it to install, cos i was thinking of putting it in myself and then taking it to united fuel injection and getting them to tune it for me..cheers mate.
aw righto cheers... so how many km's have u done since u have installed the turbo cos i have hered some stories that the 1hz will die after about thirty thousand km but then there has also been some that hase made it to two hunred thousand. do u think it would last lond if i just left it at 10psi???
cheers bud cos i really just want that sound and a bit more power. il be happy it i can get another hundred thousand of it if i run a turbo i dont want to wind up the boost that much my highest is about 10 haha. just to be on the safe side...
@inghamt My 1hz (exactly the same as yours) i have it running on 10psi, with a 3inch straight dump pipe, no intercooler yet! and it has lasted 193 thousand km's since i put in the turbo. I'm going to get an intercooler and put it up to 15 psi
nice ute.. i have a 79 series with a 1hz in it aswell and i took it too united fuel injection and there price 4 a turbo is $4300.. fitted. where did u get ur turbo because it is a lot cheeper if i fit it myself. sounds sweet.
personalmente me gusta mas el motor 4,5 de gasolina, pero este diesel turbo suena muy bien y me gusto mucho cuando grabo desde adentro parece que handara en un camion, definitivamente toyota es lo mejor
dude, you will be loosing up to 10kw with That pod sucking in all that hot air of your exhaust manifold + you need a intercooler BAD! Change the pod set up so it gets some cold air, and you wont regret it!!
oh yea nice i meant where does the oil pressure line feed from on the block do you have to drill and tap into a oil gallery? or was there a pressurised bung .also did you run the return line into the sump or back into the oil drain on the block
good stuff mate i have a hzj73 cruiser i'm in the process of doing the same thing to where did you or does anybody else know where you got the oil feed line for your turbo from was ther anything else you had to do to get this result or is everything else pretty much stock
bro... it best with 15psi or more... for stock engine ... u tune the fuel...
for the best u should upgrade the fuelpump as we at homestate call it 10-head fuelpump(stock) change to 1HD 12valve type fuel pump which is 12-head fuel pump... not sure about the real name of that part..
U need an intercooler!!
2511jeremy 4 months ago
@2511jeremy Yeah? how about 2 of them? hehe
inghamt 4 months ago
@inghamt Have you considered water injection instead of an intercooler?
edgewayround 3 months ago
@edgewayround It has a massive twin intercooler setup now with a inlet mixer. Water/meth and NOS is the next step if i have EGT issues again

maby 6000 if that lol, all offroad kms.
All engines will die quicker when you turbo them.
Im running 22psi now, i dont give the engine a very long life expectancy but damn... it goes so hard!
10psi and fuel on the conservative side will last a long time mate

This sounds like a Coach Bus with a huge Cummins in the bonnet. It only needs a jake brake and that's it.

Great stuff - thanks for sharing :-)

its all stock at the moment mate, the engine is only 500kms old and the inj pump is of the 11mm variety.
The oil line and fittings i got as a kit from a turbo mob here in perth

Put a t piece on the pressure sender bung, no return bung in the block, took sump off and welded in a 3/4 pipe for return

Wow what a match up sweet roller turbo.
I want to put one of these turbo's on my 80 series.
What did you do with the exaust manifold?
It still looks like it is stock with the heat shild ??
I can figure out the lines but the manifold has got me beat at the moment.
thanks in advance.
piescrank 2 years ago
Its a Twin Pulse Split turbo manifold with a T3 flange. It has bolt hole for the stock heat shield.
Then it has a T3 to T25 adapter flange.
inghamt 2 years ago
a T3 split pulse? thats kinda odd.
