My African Grey just turned 1 year old on Valentines day. When she's on my shoulder she whispers "poo poo" so I can lean to one side and not get the poop on my shoulder.
@redamo24 Parrots are very very messy. Besides the near-constant pooping, they also like to throw their food and toys. Add to that the little feathers they shed and the dust and dander they produce. They require a lot of work, if you want to keep things tidy.
@AnimalSites I bet they're worth it though, where did u get yours? I've been trying to adopt or purchase one, you wouldn't believe the amount of scam artists that would post ads for my state, but when i inquire about the animal they say that they had to move to another state, but if i "provide" them with my name and address they could have the bird shipped to my door.BS
when my quaker is on her perch, i'll ask "hey pickle! do you wanna come over?" and if she wants to come to me (she usually does) she'll poop on command. such smart birds :)
Wow thats awesome! Can you PLEASE give me suggestions on how to train my Timneh how to do this? As soon as i take him out the cage he takes an explosive diaheria on the carpet and not inside his cage! Its frustrating i have bird CRAP everywhere!
When we take Bibi out of her cage, we hold her over a trash can and say "big poo." Sometimes she goes right away, but sometimes it takes a long time. If she needs to go, she will usually do it on command.
Yes. Bibi still doesn't always go on command. She also doesn't always hold it when being held. However, after she goes, it's safe for 10 minutes or so.

My female isn't trained as well as my male. She actually aims her poo towards my stuff through the cage, but won't poo on command.
