This is going to be a great album, the songs that I've heard have lately been relaxed genius, chilled out intelligent songwriting. It's not too heavy but it's good.
I saw Aimee in Alexandria,Va just 5 days prior to the Ovation show in LA.I'll also be doing the first 3 shows of the upcoming tour.Aimee Mann is the Queen of Rock and Roll,5th Beatle,Bride of Elvis. Most people don't realize what they are seeing.I'm glad I saw it many years ago.I've been on board since 1994 and what a ride I've had!Go honey go!
I just saw her live for a taping of the Artist's Den TV show last week [2-7-08] in Los Angeles. She played 7 or so new numbers, including this one [twice! They needed her to redo it for the show], and some other new ones, including "Little Tornado", "31 Today", a song she wrote for Shrek 3 which was rejected, a song she wrote for another animated movie ... lots and lots of great new songs. Better than "Forgotten Arm" in my opinion.
Oooo c'mon now...everyone was saying the Forgotton Arm stuff was better than Lost in Space. FA was excellent work. I can hear plenty of FA's substance in many of her new songs...
She's essentially lost Julian C. on elec. guitar and has been touring for a 18months with the young key player who's complimented her solo sound. Her latest sound certainly isn't as heavy on the electric guitar as FArm was. I liked that, but I like this too. Not one better than another, just an natural progression of sorts. I do miss some Long Shot and Dear John with electric and although I enjoyed the long "acoustic" run, its nice to hear some drums behind her again. The new one's are great.
Heard this and Medicine Wheel pre-album release and so happy they both ended up on the new, non-consept album.

It's a much more grown-up sound. It's so cool how far she's matured since her "'Til Tuesday" days.

the first part reminds me of "put me on top"...

I totally hear that too, but I like the feel of this more than put me on top. :)

If this is any indication, the new Aimme Mann record is going to be incredible (as usual).
