Very nice video comparison. I played wow for some years and am now trying to decide whether to start playing swtor or not. Although videos like this help and this one is really very informative i keep having the feeling that swtor is new and people are excited by this alone. I really am concerned about paying a monthly fee for a game that may die in the next year and with some great games oming up i really want to see how things will go because everyone seems to like this game!!

one of the thing's i noticed that is a major difference between WoW and ToR is gear isn't truly designed for just one thing so your able to do what ever you fell like doing at the time like if you did allot of pvp and have pvp gear then decide to go on a raid or w/e you want to do your able to do so with out switching gear or spec where in WoW you have gear that is pretty much only good for pvp and gear for pve. as for the spec of WoW pretty sure most people know what i am talking about.

I have no idea what server list you look at but I'm looking at mine right now and The Fatman and Port Nowhere are almost alway high population with several other servers that fluctuate between medium and high population. I agree with everything you've said except for the arena part. Arena kills pvp for a lot of people. Yes it's fun and yes it's competitive but it just turned into a "I can faceroll you because I have arena gear" type thing in BG's. I'm all for rated Warfronts (which they are implementing) and I would be all for Arenas as long as they don't make it possible to access better gear because of it.

It's still too early to say it's over for blizz. WoW always comes back, and it is a brilliant game. Bioware have had a really good start i personally enjoyed my time leveling up to 50 and a bit of end game Flashpoints etc, currently leveling through my second character and really enjoying the experience. I don't think swtor appeals to the impatient power-leveling wow player frankly, so just stick to the game that suits you, don't play something and then trash it coz it doesn't suit your style.

I played WoW for 4 yrs and quit for SWTOR. i actually quit about 3 weeks after Firelands came out. I realized that once Pandora comes out WoW is gonna experience a younger community. with that younger community they are gonna complain about content being to hard, and blizzard is prob gonna nerf it like they always do and ppl who actually want a challenge will be clearing end game content in the first week.

In Swtor, for me at least, there is TOO much cinematic dialogue, the on-rail space combat to me doesn't belong in a 200 million dollar game and they got VERY lazy on that, the combat is a bit sluggish, PvP is a WoW-Copy while just integrating different metallic textures, the quests are kill or collect, and the classes are just alternately themed WoW rip offs.

@pwuint12 the quests are sooo much better than in WOW. every quest has a unique story , because of these dialogues. I have more fun questing in SWTOR than i ever had in WOW . PLUS in WOW you just quest to get max lvl , where in swtor you play for the storyline. PvP is a WoW-Copy? ok the pvp system is very similar but they added some cool features in the PVP system . For instance if you are a pvp guy you can level up by playing PVP and also getting money for it.

Yes, they use dialogue[in EVERY SINGLE QUEST] which gets repetitive and mundane after fifty quests of sitting through narration. Yes, it's a neat gimmick; but it gets old after awhile; there actually is something called 'too cinematic'. SWTOR had 1.6 million sales first day; it currently has 350k subs. LOTS of people are quitting. Alot of starting zones are empty, and most servers are standard to low pop.

@pwuint12 The Old Republic has 350k peak concurrent players.hat's players all playing at the same time, not the amount of subscriptions it has, that's also dated information now, and reports say that figure is rising. The game has far more than 350k subscribers, it passed the million subscriber mark a while ago, and continues to grow. So people are not just buying the game and trashing it before their free time ends, they are paying to subscribe.

After it's December hype and Christmas sales, it has steadily been losing subscribers, I currently play SWTOR from time to time, and there are no more highly populated servers, only standard to low. End game content from SWTOR is also weak, degrading longevity. Clunky mechanics, lack of class diversity, and lag will be it's doom eventually. Since the free month has ended, we will see the numbers trickle away.

These are basically controlled scenarios; and you are still overlooking the fact that everyone who subscribed within the first month is still listed as a subscriber, they still have an account[despite if they unsubscribed] in their subscriber base for the free month player's receive. 350k Active Users, and I count that as subscribers, because that is the activity norm[for the most part]. The rest are people that have quit already.

I have, from first hand, witness [ on standard population servers, which are the most populated now ] that cities are dead, the fleet is dead, chat is dead, and communication and interaction is dead. I have PLAYED the game. The game is dying, at a slower rate than WAR, but dying nonetheless. You still do not adhere to the fact that 350k active players is not just for THAT point, it is the controlled amount, or close to.

i think the question that a lot of people come to is can there be more than 1? in the past it has felt like there can only be one mmo and the others pretty much tank. GW2 is a one time buy, so it will attract alot different types of people. WoW will probably be my main MMO, but I'll still play GW2 on the side. Why? Because if GW2 doesn't live up to the hype, I won't have to pay monthly for it. If that's the case, it'll be no different than how alot of people play Singleplayer games on the side.

The fact is SWTOR requires a more powerful system to max out and that is because it has higher settings. My computer can play wow maxed all the way at 50-60 FPS I have to play SWTOR on low to get the same FPS. Sure SWTOR still needs to optimized a bit but the fact is it has better graphics. which is to be expected with it being a much more recent release.

swtor is a laggy piece of crap, they lied on the min/req specs, many people with high end computers are having major fps issues in warzones etc (read the forums)

@DJCormi Well I don't know. My computer just barely reaches the min/req, and after turning the shadows off and setting resolution lower it really worked no problem. Warzones just have too much going on, just like Wintergrasp in WoW (For example.) Can't roll pvp's in either WoW nor SWTOR. Notice that I use the same computer for both of these, and SWTOR doesn't seem that much laggier after turning settings to low.
