Eject cage mech is damaged that all, if you ram a tape in to hard you can bust the teeth on the load and eject gears, it might be a simple fix and that one or two cogs have slipped out, only way you will find out is to take the back off the tele and have a butchers, the trouble with combi's is the picture tube hangs right over the video bit so access is limited and for-god sake don't touch the thing while plugged in cus the big wire that goes to the tube is high voltage so no unhooking it.
my old Panasonic omnivision tv vcr combo brightness is dark. there isnt a brightness button on and there isnt a button to access the menu. what do i do?
@TheNintendoman64 you would need to use the remote there would have to be some menu that can be accessed with the remote, if the remote is gone use a universal remote
Alright i have a pretty decent size jvc tv and i want to play my xbox 360 through it becuase my flat isnt so big haha, i have my xbox plugged in (correctly) but there is no imput switch on the actual tv so i got one of those remote that works on everything still doesnt switch over the imput :I
Pointless thing to repair. Like you can pick them up for about $35. Here in the UK, I got 5 of them, in perfect working order for about $75 (about £35.) No one wants them anymore! Its all DVD's now! I I sold them for £10 each and that was a struggle. Don't get me wrong I love VCR, but I am a rare breed here in the UK! Thing is, once something goes wrong, you can guarantee something else will very soon!!
i have one of those. it plays fine but i have to shove a pencil into the power button just to turn the dang thing on! also it won't accept the tape.it locks itself up so you have to push Another button with a pencil. also, this is the wierd part, sometimes when i push play it fastfowards instead. i feel bad for my "pokemon the first movie" tape because it won't play. any suggestions? (other than smash the thing to bits preferrably)
Sorry I have a JVC TV My JVC TV Model # AV-K21TT2 Serial # 11471519 When I turn it on the audio comes on but there is nothing on the screen? What could be the problem?.
@saifunny opps this comment is very late, the only way I know of testing the picture tube is to find a channel with color bars that will show all the colors to see if every color and brightness along with contrast ratio is working properly
@patricknedz it looks like there is no power at all coming from the mains to the VCR. Yes the television works, but probably there is a separate cable inside the set to power the VCR. I don't think it will be anything to do with what you said at 04:57 because if that was the case, the VCR would malfunction instead of not working altogether.
@patricknedz I guess somewhere of the tape loading mechanism is broken making it unable to activate when you insert tapes. But since I never had chance to open a TV/VCR combo I can't think of anything to do :/
I think the little sliding thing (the thing that moves freely in yours) has popped free of the mechanism that moves it. The reason it doesn't do anything is because the sliding thing doesn't move the part of the mechanism, so the machine can't sense that a tape is in it. Therefore, it doesn't do squat because it can't see the tape.
@HumbertoPKMNTrainer I do like the panasonic VCR it works really well, as for the JVC TV/DVD combo, it is nice, but would be nicer if the VCR part worked
I agree with some about the dangers of the capacitors in their Pat. They can hold a charge for several weeks unpluged. If you ever do get in there, please make sure you find out how to discharge them safely first. Any electrical component now a days store enough to keep clocks and other things active while unplugged and I know you know this man, Just wanted to say careful.
I would also guess it's a damaged switch that detects the tapes. Even though you knew the problem I wouldn't just dig in there and try to fix. Keep in mind there are capacitors the size of oranges (j/k), but seriously, they store a lot of electricity which could be really harmfull or even kill you.
Since it's probably a pretty old TV, and kinda small maybe you can go without the built in VCR-player?
@CassetteMaster Im guessing its something with the loading tray and motor, I wish I could get in there so I can see what it is but the picture tube is in the way of the VCR and I dont want to mess with that since its still working.
There's a sensor in there that will shut the whole thing down if the motor is not spinning. Looks like the mechanism got damaged when the tape got slammed in. I honestly don't know if it can be repaired. You'd have to tear it completely apart and find the broken part and replace it. :) JC
the motoror sensor for the tape feed is shot most likely cause it it doesnt know the tapes there then it wont do anything most likely the sensor or motor burned out that grabs the tape and pulls it to the drum to be played it shouldnt be that much of a problem but unless u know alot about electronic repair and tvs are not one to learn on the fly as they contain deadly voltage even when unplugged just leave it to a repair shop to fix it
when I took it apart the picture tube was in the way, and I dont want to mess with that because it still works, at leased we can still watch TV on it, but this is why I dont like the TV/VCR they are hard to get to the VCR part, I used to have an older VCR, I forget the brand, but it broke after a while, and would not do anything, I think it was the end of its time because it had a lot of use too it, when you plug it in it didnt light up the clock or accept a tape, but its gone, in the trash
VCR's built after 1990 were just not designed to be serviced. This is a good example of that. Sometimes you can get lucky and spot a simple problem and take care of it but most of the time they're just not fixable at all. Fortunately, they made millions of them and they were rather cheap so you might find another one that is in good working order. :) JC
@BadEditPro the only place I can get another one of these is ebay, but I have two other VCRs in my room, but i need one for the 40 inch HD TV, because other people want to watch VHS tapes, i'm the only one that has one

that's simple
step 1 find a vcr hea cleaner
step 2 unscroll the tv
step 3 try any videotape
step 4 email me if is working again
step 5 the vcr dosen't matter if it records mono or hi-fi.
cameron20101000 9 months ago

at 2:50 when you put the tape in, did the VCR like take it off you and load up it did you have to force the tape ALL the way in?

@wedgehedge444 it wont suck it in like it was supposed to, you have to push it in

This Is How To Work Again 1.Replace The Belts At The Bottom 2.Get It Professionaly Fixed 3.Restore The Parts That're Broken 4.Test It! 5.Enjoy!!!

Why don't you just connect the other VCR to the TV/VCR combo and call it a day?

It might be a damaged switch that detects a tape, or a broken belt or gear, or a belt that came off. Those are my guesses.
