I have been tatting for quit a while now and I must say, you did a great job as a tutorial. Although, you do your stitches in a very....unconventional way. There is nothing WRONG with that, I have just never seen anyone perform the stitches in that manner. Is it faster than the regular way?
It's maddening that something that appears so easy can be so tricky. I can get the first half of the first stitch to flip and am hopeless beyond that.
It is like a membership into a very elite club to be able to get these threads to roll into place. I guess I can take heart that it took you a couple weeks...
your video is nice in that it is up close and goes slow enough. Thank you for putting it out here.
I am ready to begin learning tatting and I thought your video was very well done and easy to understand without instructing me as if I needed someone to tell me what thread was. Thank You Im excited to begin the process now!
I have not been able to make a "proper" knot where the knot is on the correct string and not the shuttle string. When I do make the knot it does not slide. Though it DOES slide when it is on the shuttle string. What am I doing wrong?
@hellashorty Sorry for the late response, you've probably figured it out by now. The "flip" is something that really frustrates people and took me a couple weeks to figure out. When you're doing the first half of the double knot, you kind of transfer it to the other thread. So the thread attached to the shuttle should be able to slide through the knots, therefore closing the ring. (:

Thank you for doing a close up and slowly. This is the best video I have seen so far.
