  • Ur mustachio is badazz

  • He's a male gypsy.

  • What if im trying to express my imagination and im trying to make a great deal of money

  • Santa!!!

  • Sitzfleisch xD haha lustig

  • Im not satisfied with the way this video ended

  • haha his pronounciation of SITZFLEISCH is actuallympretty good :D

  • Pink shirt. Red Spenders. Fabulous facial hair...Oh my god you are so full of win

  • @pecannutespresso mario :)

  • ".. you have to give a satisfying end to the reader."

    *video ends without warning*

  • what if he said to JK Rowling that she was going to fail, because the odds where against her? What if he himself is a failed writer, and just pissed off? Dont let anybody tell you what you cant do. Especially not bearded men with pink shirts..

  • I like this guy.

  • u forgot narrative hook

  • I think he is saying if your goal is to make money you are going to fail. I accept that because it is not why I want to do this Money isn't the only yardstick life can be measured by

  • im only 8

  • oooo I love plot twists

  • I want to write a book to make big bucks, do ghost storys with a twist, make big bucks?

  • @TheLobsterOfFate Most definetly! Id pay to read a book lik that!

  • I think he's just trying to say that very few ppl make serious money writing, relative to how many ppl aspire to do so... but to say someones doomed to fail is a bit of a stretch. Also he's a bit off... most novelists are not freelance writers as they are working under publishing contracts.... anyway his advice about actually writing and not putting it off is good

  • He tells everyone watching that they would fail - not good.

That is a very negative statement - not helpful.

I read On Writing by Stephen KIng. That was very helpful !

Stephen King made it, and he wants other writers to make it.

He was struggling in the beginning, like most of us, then he

broke through. If he had listened seriously to a guy like this

he might never have tried, then no one would even know who

he is. Then what would he be doing ? I'm going to write my novel !

  • If you think you're going to fail then you're going to fail. It's the people that know they're going to win that are going to succeed and make a lot of money. This guy hasn't made money, so no else can? That's crazy. Time and effort is all it takes and get help from other people which is vital.

  • @roidz17 exactly!

  • I write...'cause I have a twisted sense of humor...I like to shock my reader. I write 3-7 Pages a day...usually I work "per chapter" and my stories end with a moral...I write character plots, leading my reader deep into the head of one person and that persons problems! I need more coffee.

  • professor sexy beard!!

  • he looks like a toy maker

  • @hotwhire im thinking santa.

  • Usually when I write I get lost in the complication part and then go into a filler hell o 3 o and then I just start a new story...however, this kind of helps a bit :D

  • I get writers block so much, I write ten pages a day If I don't have it, then four months of writers block will set in :(

  • I dont have an end for my series of books so what do I do?

  • @kalpfei1287 flip a coin and decide if the series is a tragedy or a comedy.

  • @Damasterdotorg lol I know how I am going to end it!!

  • what the german call "sixflags!"tee hee hee

  • @mypugrocco sitzfleisch :P

  • Great advice, but you don't always need to sitting in a chair while you write. I write wherever and whenever I can.

  • one day

  • i showed one of my friends a chapter of the book I am writing, and the next week she told me she couldn't get to sleep because she couldn't wait for the next chapter.......

  • +that was soooo gay u faggot who rapes peepz

  • 0:00

  • u are really ig for saying that

  • How to write a book: Do not write a book.

  • aweome stach!

  • INCIDENTALLY, IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY, YOU'RE GOING TO FAIL. Then why even bother with the advice? LOL

  • Hello Santa

  • is that santa

  • what if your just 13 years old and dont have a lot of expierence. i want to write a book that can possibly eaither be ficiton or nonfiction, but i'm only in middle school so i need help.

  • Damn, he had to talk about actually sitting down and writing the book. I have four novels on the go and write a few pages when I feel like it. Why can't it just come out of my head onto the computer? Actually, a page a day isn't so bad. I'd never thought of it like that before. I give top marks to the moustache too.

  • im gonna be the next stephen king mother fuckers!!!

  • HAHA i just want to turn these crazy nightmares into a screenplay or a book.

  • Wow thats the narrative arc taught in American highschools then no wonder so few American with such weak endings. The arc in canada has some extra action after the resolution to keep readers interested

  • wow i accidently jum on this video and i find myself that im writting exactle 1page a day.(sometimes even 1-4days for 1page)

    this helped me, thanks.

  • wow i accidently jum on this video and i find myself that im writting exactle 1page a day.(sometimes even 1-4days for 1page)

  • i have a book i wrything calld Kingdoms From Heaven its about a anchint Times in a Fantasy World That Have Elfs Dark elfs Orcs Gurdians(Angels) Red Elfs Dwarfs Humans Deamons and many more creatures its about the Great War That Toke Two Ages and evrey age takes like 10 Tousnd Years And a before those ages There was A war Agienst The Dark Side of the great 7 Valandors =)))

  • @NikeBoy2031 One, keep it to yourself; two learn how to spell and punctuate. No one can teach someone how to write, you learn by writing. However, a few useful tips on publishers, agents, dialogue etc is always welcome. I agree with Sammiton about the moustache (11 secret herbs and spices went into growing that thing).

  • @NikeBoy2031 like the elder scrolls

  • @jrv60 lol its dosent even lock like the elder scrolls

  • hey! i am writing Chronicles about a Dark Lord and his Dark Powers rising slowly just until he could attack at the Universe called 'Korozaria'.

My Chronicles are (sort of) related to the greatest Game / Chronicles ever: The Legend of Zelda.

  • I like your pink. Good video though.

  • I think the best advice for fiction is to emerge yourself with something that is intimate with your life... imagine yourself as a character, and imagine something you would like to go through that you wouldn't normally find yourself. You get a good idea going and it gets pretty hard to stop... and start a journal that you religiously write in everyday, that will really help (and blog if your familiar). So with that I would like to give my two cents... which by quite frankly I find is much more.

  • nice. every time i start writing something i always end up getting bored or not going along through with me. I'm not sure why but i have never thought of the one page a day thing. It's pretty easy to do that, I'll writing with that in mind.

  • Thank you sir! I feel better now! <3

  • 5 stars for your mustache

  • @sammiton1 i agree

  • @sammiton1 holy shit that's an old comment.

  • I think that the question that you asked "why do you want to write?" is a good one. Knowing the why will either keep us writing or help us pursue something else. I think an equally valid question is "Who do you want to be?" Because for anyone to have any success in any venture they have to BE someone and DO the work necessary to HAVE the amount of success that comes in that area.

  • thanks

  • Im only eleven and this video gave me lots of advice.

But i find 1 page a day hard lol

  • @TheAdamsullivan its because your eleven

  • me too. i think its because i have a lot going on, like school and after-school activities. thats why its normal for people our age to have less time to write a book. im 15, btw. started writing when i was about your age, so good for you!

  • nice guy :)

  • Personally, I have to be in the mood to write, I can't just be like "Okay now I'm going to write" or it won't be any good. But at the same time when I do feel like writing I write, I'm not just sitting there at the keyboard like Johnny Depp in Secret Window. This guy is helping me though. Really great advice, thank you sir.

  • Oh definitely. Some authors can sit for twenty hours straight and pound away on their keyboard, and some authors can only write for an hour a day. Whatever works for them.

  • Santaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol. You made me laugh.

  • Yea, I wanna see you write a book in a day.

  • Quote of the day: 'So, you want to write a book. I don't suppose I can talk you out of it'. That made me giggle.

  • Stephenie Meyer should have watched this guy.

  • Miss Meyer is doing pretty fine, selling millions of copies of her books. No, I don't like Twilight, but it's just to show you can get pretty far with shoddy writing as long as you somehow, somewhere can incite readers to keep on going through your pages.

  • that just means that she's a successful business woman. not a successful writer.

  • @Tprinces hahaha definitely. I watched twilight with my girl... and oh my god. Nothing. No climax. No story arc.... nothing. It was physically painful

  • @Tprinces agreed. meyers doesn't deserve to be called an 'author' anyway. she sucks. she only lives out her sexual fantasies by writing garbage about sparkling vampires.

  • @Tprinces

lol, that's so true! I really enjoy his videos!

  • @Tprinces She was too busy sparkling her vampires... :)

  • @Tprinces Why? She sold 4 books already. There's no proof he's sold any.

  • @ssuz1 at least he's still got self respect, and that's saying something considering his moustache and braces.

  • i WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY PAGES SHOULD BE IN A CHAPTER AND TODAY I TOOK THE WRITING TEST =()=

  • The number of pages in a chapter can really vary. It's really completely up to you, but if you read some novels you'll see how the length of a chapter can have an effect on the feeling of it.

  • well a novel needs to be 100 pages or more to be a novel but most of the time its not that good if its that short

  • One hundred pages is too short for a novel. For a novella, it's more common.

  • in tuck everlasting, one of the best books ive ever read, the chapters varied from 15 pages to less than one. It all depends on whats going on in the chapter; chapters are for readers and writers to be able to organize the book into topics.

my chapters are usually between 8-11 pages.

  • HO HO HO!!! lol... thanks for the present.

    :)

  • This guy is the King of Kings

  • why do you look like santa??

i would love to hear how many elves you employ to film this video LOL

  • lol same here. I bet he is Santa, he is just pretending to be a writer.

  • lmao that made my day

  • ok... i write cuz i love writing its that simple hmmmm ok the only prob is ive been having with is how long chapters should be im on my 8th chapter about climax point and well i estimate my chaapter writing to 4-6 pages per cahpter.......wohoooo Drew save anie's life errr spoiler lol

  • I have a similar problem with mine; the chapter lengths are erratic. Some last two pages while others last twenty!

  • i can easily write 5 pages in a half hour so i guess i can do ten pages in an hoour but booo hooo how do i limit speeden or lenghten my story's progress there really should be aguiide to this btw ive done ten chapters 90+pages :D only 2 more to go :)

  • It doesn't matter!! Write how you want to. :)

  • I think these are quite good tips, probably suited to people like us, who don't know a thing about writing!! I have painstakingly written about 200 pages, but the research, continuous revision and editing, a one page per day is a reasonably good rate. Considering everything else that is involved in writing that is not actually writing.

  • I don't mean to be negative but what's with all of the good comments. You people are coming here for help and he says things like " I dont suppose I could talk you out of it" and "If you intend to make money, you will fail." At most points he tried to discourage the viewer and he only tells you things you should know by the age of twelve.

  • i like the santa beard

plus this helped alot, ta ma ha.

  • wow. thank you. you helped me alot.

Im 15 and i love writting.

im really worried though because im twenty pages into my book and i already have a lot of the main idea done. im haveing a really big problem with finding a climax. ughh, writting is hard sometimes

    haha well thanks again

    -emmeline

  • Not all work has to be regular novel size. Maybe you can do a short story or novella :). good luck.

  • this is really great stuff- im writing a novel- i just begun, its about 26 pages so far but i have problems with 1 character in particular- i can't get closer to her personality or i need to at least.

  • Thank you so much. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Your How to's are great and I've learned a lot from them. Keep doing this. If my book/novel hits world wide, I'll be sure to include you as an inspiration.

  • hey great tips. I have finished writing my story. It's about 260 pages. I don't really know if it's actually good, but I kinda just wanted to try an experiment with it. I'm at the editing process. I was wondering if you have any tips on editing of if even you could help edit for me. Thanks for the help
