  • Bravo. The one & only Manitas De Plata!!!

  • he is amazing.thanks

  • Eddie who?

  • A well worn guitar souds better than a new one.

  • so raw, so passionate......watch his eyes at 2:30

  • thumbs up if u like it

  • *♩♫ ˙· ♥ ·˙ ♫♩ **♥ ♥***˙ ♫♩♩♫ ˙· ♥ ·˙ ♫♩ **

  • his inspiration came from a pure life, not from the ego. he play to give not for receiving. like the sun. thank you manitas:)

  • PS. I would love to see what they say.

  • Please let the dislikes come first.

  • Guess thats why his name translates into " small hands of silver..or small silverhands...

  • this cant actually be possible. like seriously. i cant freakin do it no matter how hard i try it just sounds like a 4 year old playing a one string banjo with a toothbrush. hes not human.

  • I dont like to swear so please forgive me but I don't have words to express how fucking amazing and beautiful this is, I have chills.

  • playing guitar for the baliardo family is like bill gates making money,it just happens naturally, these people are born with a guitar, just raw talent.

  • what year was this ? i first saw the genius that is manitas in 1972 in the uk

  • simplement le genie

  • heel gaaf. Uitstekend.

  • I hate that most people think that a fast left hand or fast picked notes on electric guitar equals guitar genius. Although that's very impressive they have no idea of the technique required in the right hand to do anything resembling what Manitas de Plata has perfected.

  • this man is a genius with golden fingers .

  • He may have the most unique playing style of any guitarist ever.

  • Yé l'aime

  • He plays from the Heart

  • BRILLIANT

  • Comment removed

  • He's granpa to the Gipsy Kings

  • my ears just had an orgy

  • Silver Hands!!?? ... actually rubber hands!!!! WOOOOOWWW

  • Wow wa wee waa

  • this man actually is the best guitar player in the world I think. his left hand is amazing, as he uses arpeggios like they're powerchords. but other than 'normal' guitar players, his right hand is also like, magically fast and accurate. He can play 3 different things with 5 fingers. and opposed to modern guitar solos which are great of course, this piece has a lot of melody and feeling in it, and not just some random notes played as fast as possible. legend this man

  • @alkleiza1995 This is the absolute and undisputable truth... ! :-))

  • @alkleiza1995

  • @alkleiza1995 I agree, I discovered this man about 15-20 yrs ago. His style and passion made me learn to play the flamenco guitar. Many "purists" dismiss his style, but they are missing the point. He is a natural born guitarist and not "up himself". I just find his very individual technique and brash, un-clinical style of playing so refreshing

  • I like Manitas playing & watching his face...he's having as much fun playing as I am listening. What a treasure...

  • @texstead ABSOLUTELY TRUE !!! :-)))))

  • Ole

  • This man is why I started playing guitar...homage..into the music, Chris Dair

  • I just told a guy on here who thought prince was the best guitarist to watch Manitas play.

  • anyone else notice that he has two thousand fingers?

  • Does he know only one note? Nope, so he need to go to sleep

  • did anyone notice his disgusting thumb fingernail?

    ewwwwwwww!

  • @tomasGM11 sorry ya little princess

  • Now I know where Ritchie Blackmore borrowed a few of his licks.

  • un grande

  • What year was this video? Is he still alive? if he is he's 90 years old! He was very popular in the 60's. but he wasn't liked by other flaminco players!

  • Comment removed

  • @thomeguitar he is still alive, aged 90 and is something of a recluse (no change there) .... the first time I took a girl on a date was to see him play in Birmingham (England) in 1970 ... fabulous stuff

  • What year was this video?

  • Beautiful and soulfull..the power and the glory of great music

  • How beautiful is this....so soulful...breathtaking technique,....its everything music should be.

  • How beautiful is this....so soulful...breathtaking technique,....its everything music should be

  • this is NOT flamenco. A flamenco-impression at most.

  • @godofreudson Then please define what IS flamenco. Flamenco is a free style of music. It has very little rules.

  • @KingofFunk412

Clapton could never play nearly as well as Manitas

  • This really isn't that good. Playing really fast doesn't make you a good guitarist. I don't know why they top rated comment is telling Clapton to go home when Clapton is 10x the guitarist this guy is.

  • @KingofFunk412

Really isn't that good. Shut up. Amazing

  • @TheTwelfthOfMay Alright, whatever. It's all opinion.

  • @KingofFunk412

I really value people's opinions. Yours was actually a fine point I may well have skipped over due to about 10 pints of guiness. I hate people thriving off technical ability also but do enjoy this guy. However, I didn't notice the "Clapton go home" due to the Guiness. I also love Clapton and "shut up" looks harsh on screen but in my head it was lighthearted.

  • @TheTwelfthOfMay secondly to prove my point to those who will understand it, if you were to ask Clapton to play the first chord and strumming pattern on here I bet you a year's wages that he COULD NOT! I've never even heard Clapton utilize travis picking let alone these types of strumming and rythms, with melodies and dissonance incorporated ALL AT ONCE. On top of that, using all 5 fingers of the right hand on an acoustic through a mic

  • @KingofFunk412 no it's NOT opinion. I'm tired of people hiding behind the false idea that "an opinion CAN'T be wrong". Here's the kicker for those who have never thought beyond the first and easiest assumption to come to your brain. If your "opinion" is based on "false info/ideas/propoganda" then yah, you're opinion is WRONG! 1st off anyone who puts clapton in the same realm as this guy either doesn't know anything about music, does not play guitar, and if they do, they don't do it well.

  • @KingofFunk412 You could ask the same of the best shredder at your local guitar center and they still couldn't hang with Plata. ON the flipside, I can garuntee you that Manita can play anything Clapton ever wrote, and even spice it up on top of that. Once again, put down the Rolling Stone magz, stop watching VH1 classic and learn something about music, then listen with ur ears and heart. Everything is crystal clear after that.

  • @KingofFunk412 When Manitas entered the arena of solo playing, creative giants as Dali and Picasso, who were already aware of traditional palos, were stunned to see this simple gypsy producing Scriabin type dissonant improvised tonalities aiming at the soul. You missed something if you think what Manitas did was to accelerate the fingers. As many here I started playing for dancers as a kid (over 60 now). It floored me when I heard the sounds as a youngster. It still does.

  • tres belle technique ,mais quel massacre il devrait ecouter paco ,manolo, sabica ,domage qui l melange farruca ,soleare, buleria, taranta ect..

  • I know I know. I have been playing flamenco guitar myself for decades. Met Manitas on several occasions. I know about his compas or rather not compas - but I don't agree with those who always like to stress that he's no good at all. Carnegie Hall was sold out several times when he played there. Who else did that among the guitaristas? Even Sabicas said he liked what Manitas was doing....

  • He is the best!!

    Opre Roma~~~!

  • how can one man have so much talent? how?

  • Why is Manitas the best?

Allright it is always an issieu of taste, thats true,..but

He has the guts to play out of anything,..just doing his own thing,..that"s why he is the best . In my point of view/ taste,...

I love Manitas de Plata he is my inspirator!!

    Thank you Manitas.

  • this sounds like crap. his playing is so unclean. he is slapping the strings and it sounds horrible. Paco de lucia kicks his ass any day

  • @FilazekGuitar Take the cotton wool out of youre ears its clouding youre brain.

  • @FilazekGuitar Would you say the same about John Lee Hooker ?

Because he plays bad the guitar too, but he is the best bluesman of the World ...

  • this is technically brilliant but sounds like crap

  • well, it´s not in the music notes. Paco de Lucia didn´t know any music notes untill he wanted to play the concierto aranjuez very late in his career as a flamenco guitarist. he has loud technique thou..

When I bought a cd of him I really had to laugh when I turned it on. He is the comedian of the flamenco. And for that he is great, I admit

  • It´s really interesting to see how quickly people are impressed. Manitas de Plata is a real clumzy player. No compas. No compas. No compas. He tries to play like Sabicas. I think if Manitas de plata would have had a good teacher and more patience, he would have gotten really far in the flamenco. Here he is just somebody who tries to play flamenco, but can not.

  • @enmono1 He was a musician who didn't know the musical notes, and learned all by himself. But among guitarists, he is a "god". And he deserves to be recognized as one. The guy was amazing. You must be blind not to see or hear this.

  • @enmono1 Oh, come on, this about music, not flamenco. All these flamenco people - and I have been dealing with scores of them for many years - are so dogmatic! If a piece is not being played exactly according to the compas it is a failure. It isn't of course. Compas are necessary for dancers and singers - but here is someone playing all alone. Why bother about compas?

  • @kolonodale

When you play e.g a Bulerías by Paco, Almoraima or somethng, and you don't care about compás it'll sound very wrong.. Flamenco is compás, groove and emotion.. his technique is okay, but i've seen so many (flamenco) guitarrist who are 1000 times better than him, they play with passion, nice melodys...

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 You are right there - he can't play a bulerias correctly, though he alegrias often come close. But then listen to his toquas libres, especially the first recordings with Jose Reyes. Listen to the incredible Jota on the record "Guitarra Flamenca" where he is singing himself. But after all, GuitarraFlamenca, it's a matter of taste. Manitas has inspired millions of listeners. Read the comments here...

  • From which album does this song come from ?

  • you guys dont know anything about music.

hes not a good player,in spain there are bums who play better than him.

what he plays isnt correct and isnt original.

he didnt even compose it,he just plays basic patterns and not even correctly.

even cheap tourist attraction players are better than him

  • @icedteaalvarez

Then show video of good flamenco for someone who will never be in Spain. Prove you aren't deaf (no offense, Beethoven).

  • @sl28ave

jeronimo maya played better than him when he was a kid.

if you are a guitarist you will see that he plays much more complicated harmonies, where manitas only tries ti impress people whit his technique.

i cant post the link butt search for jeronimo the miracle.

  • @icedteaalvarez Jeronimo the Miracle is really interesting. Manitas de Plata may not be perfect, but the sound is like a nice drink (non-alcoholic). Same with Jimi Hendrix. He just let's go and drenches you. I'm no musician, but this stuff inspires me in ways nothing else does. I wish You Tube was easier to navigate, so I can find these great bum guitarists you speak of.

  • @sl28ave

obviously you cant see those bums on the internet.

bums dont have computers, you see them playing for money in the streets.

  • @icedteaalvarez I'd love to see you play it "correctly". We know nothing about music but I'v been playing for 20 years and find Manitas de Plata's "basic patterns" always amaze me..... I'm sure that you are one of those narrow minded Spaniards that finde anything from France not worthy.

  • @jdom1 ok you have been plaing for 20 years, butt i know for sure that you dont play flamenco and that you dont know anything about it, otherwise you wouldnt have the same opinion.

there are a lot of french guitarists who can realy play, he is not one of them.i dont know anything about jazz, if you know jazz i'm not going to argew whit you about a jazz musician ,because i dont know.thats the differenece between normal people and nowitall retards like you.

  • I have seen him the first time life in Germany in 1972 - amazing, and I started to play guitar by myself

  • The master, such an awesome ability. Be COsmic ....

  • :O

  • @thebeeaast post something more productive you jackass!

  • Bought his first album HOMAGES in the 70s. Been a fan ever since. I think this is from that period. Get hold of a copy if you can . Its a Masterpiece.

  • GREAT GENIUS ,yes he deserves 1 billion of views

    I LOVE THIS MAN,what a TALENT

before someboy borrow me a cd and a LP record of MANITAS DE PLATA

I SEE IT NEVER AGAIN,i am happy now, with this YOU TUBE CLIP

    WOW

  • he deserves 900 millions of views

  • he deserve 900 millions of views

  • Nice tune dude. Have tabs? xP

  • Wow!!!!! Took my breath away!. Thank you so much for sharing this!.

  • Wow Great

  • me:"C Chord please?"

De Plata: "Sure, Driiinngg!!! Now go home and die please"

  • Can someone please tell me what the title means in English?

  • @anonymouslolxD on the Ronda's way. Ronda is a place in Spain.

  • @anonymouslolxD It means, more or less "Ronda's path" or "The path on the way to Ronda" Ciao

  • wouldn't it be cool to walk to a bar and kick the door open, guitar in hand, and put your foot up on the first chair you find and just wail this out? there wouldn't be a set of dry pants in the whole place! then you just turn around and walk away into the sunset...........

  • I thin my parents bought a copy ever record that Manitas recorded.

Your head fills with the sound as well as the music. I don't know how else to describe it. It's more than music. It's very special.

  • Great work!! Its an interesting beat but he keeps the harmony alive.

Oh that little bit from 2:16 - 4:00 is just... lovely! I especially love that timeframe

  • EDDIE WHO !!????...amazing and breathtaking

  • Pure genius. To think that he is self-taught illiterate gypsy makes it even more amazing!

  • Haha Clapton go Home! =D

  • @glabounwy

It's like you say to Micheal Jordan who plays hockey to go home =)

  • @glabounwy

he plays very bad... no aire, no compas. no feeling. maybe a good picado, but go to granada, every flamenco there plays about 2 times faster than this guy and have feeling and rhythm.

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000: Anybody on Youtube that you recommend, besides Paco, of course?

  • Comment removed

  • @GuitarraFlamenca1000 Just the picados? Have you ever heard anyone play a tremolo as smoothly? Or a rasgueado, a molino in particular, as forceful? And why should he play compas? Why should he play flamenco? He is a guitarist! one of the best of all time, not to be compared with anyone.

  • @kolonodale

Because he recorded a Buleria (Flamenco Palo) and played it fuera de compas. This shows me that this guy doesn't respect this art. Its like " I like Rap-Music but these rappers with their fast-spoken-words annoying me" Do you know what i mean? Flamenco without compas isn't flamenco. He trys to play flamenco (e.g his buleria) but he can't.

  • @glabounwy Hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa ! RIGHT !!!

  • @DanaFritzy . Do i hear the Doors, Spanish Caravan. Did they really rip this tune off?. Or am i just tripping?.

  • @Shoopo1 Haha ! I'm afraid you're right... I'don't know about the tripping-bit, but for the rest... Yes, I also would tend to believe so... :-))

  • @Shoopo1 Manitas de Plata made the original Spanish Caravan music , but is not called Spanish Caravan

  • moooooooooooooooibienne osti t'chien klice

  • Awsome!!

  • arguably the best ever flamenco guitarist

  • I first saw this video a year ago. Words cannot describe how inspiring his playing is. I have played guitar for 8 years and have composed a new piece, using the introduction to Por el camino de Ronda. The rest of the music is my own composition. Would like to hear any feedback people may have. :)

  • You can certainly hear Steve Howe's influence for "Mood for a Day" in this Gypsy guitar style! Bravo!

  • Please stop calling this Flamenco... this is *NOT* Flamenco...

  • @guitarrayamor

You need to broaden your idea of what flamenco is!

  • Comment removed

  • notice also, how he walks on to rapturous applause and bows and murmours humbly, his thanks to the audience, realising they'll never hear him, he just gets on with it - and once more, the guy shows us, he is, for all time, the king of flamenco guitar. praise be.

  • à écouter en silence , magnifique ! bravo !

  • Eight minutes of absolute guitar heaven! Thanks!!!

  • My father bought an album in france during the early seventies with this on. Fortunately he kept it for this is like reviving old memories from a spain which is long gone. Viva Manitas

  • Manitas de Plata > Paco de Lucia

  • Por eso le llaman Manitas de Plata !!!! Genious!!!

  • une des maitres du flamenco !

  • Looks like H. Stern; but, plays guitar fantastic.

  • Genio !!!! Nonchalant !

  • Comment removed

  • it's just like telling a story, this great art of flamenco music.

  • I saw Manitas in the 70s on UK TV and have never forgotten the impression he made on me - his accuracy and musicality showed me what to look for in guitarists. That flowing, never-miss-a-note natural talent has guided me to the best guitarists in the world - Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore are the first 3 that come to mind although their genre is completely different!

  • @billyconnearly I saw him in the 60s at the Albert Hall and his unique sound made an impression on me too. I still love it. By the way, you missed Django Reinhardt off your list - surely one of the greats.

  • glad this guy is still around as i could have sworn he died years ago....superb artist

  • le king incomparable!!

  • I remember seeing him on UK Opportunity Knocks in the late 1960's. I was a young boy and spell bound by his playing. Glad we can now watch him again on YouTube.

  • my jaw just drop to the goround ...this guy is amazing ! i am surprise the guitar isent on fire yet!

  • Manita, l'homme aux mains d'Or,

Viva Manita

  • fantastico ! magnifique !

  • Wondrous performance of contrasts and colours.

  • O_O hahahaha legend :)

  • Even if you wouldn't like this... You still have to admit this is fabulous playing!

  • I know there is Solea, Seguiriya, Tanguillos, Tangos, Fandangos de Huelva, Sevillanas, Buleiras.. and all that.. But to me, THIS IS FLAMENCO..Madre Mia.. Thank you Manitas.

  • this is a Granaina (AkA Granadina) It is one of the forms of flamenco. But it is freeform so he is able to what he wants.

  • @okamilune This is a definite Rondeña!

  • @Y2H is it? i have never heard Ronde a because i never got that far in my flamenco studies. I have also never heard a Zapateado. The reason i called it a Granaina was because of his slide to the seventh on the low E followed by the upper note played unison on seperate strings. That is classic Granaina. I didnt know they did that in any other form.

  • bien manitas bieen

  • epical End !!

  • bravo what a performance

    ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE

  • WONDERFUL!!!!

  • Simply amazing, words fail me!

  • Absolutely amazing! Have loved his music for over 40 years. He never ceased to amaze me!

  • q tecnica!!

  • Thanks Rob - great clips. Do you know if Manitas' Carnegie Hall NYC concert clips can be found anywhere?

  • Lorca writes: "The duende, then, is a power, not a work. It is a struggle, not a thought. I have heard an old maestro of the guitar say, 'The duende is not in the throat; the duende climbs up inside you, from the soles of the feet.' Meaning this: it is not a question of ability, but of true, living style, of blood, of the most ancient culture, of spontaneous creation."

  • God wat mooi
