  • What a charismatic man god love you

  • I met Faron at a show he came off stage and asked my greataunt to dance then met him agin at a show and he sat down with two jar heads as he said and had a drink with us a wonderful

man wish he would have known how much he was loved

    l

  • If you like Faron & this song, search for Waylon Jennings and Friends 2 on YouTube. The 3rd song on the video will be a funny story about it by Faron & Wille Nelson. There are also videos 1,3,4 & 5 that I think you will enjoy.

  • @AngelDrifter1 You said it!!! They don't have the heart OR the talent (not to mention they're not Country). God Bless Faron & long live REAL Country Music

  • @LLMorse1 No bigger George fan than me, but Faron was right up there with him (& Hank) as the greatest male singers in Country Music. He didn't "need" an orchestra either. He never had one on his other songs and almost never had one when he did "Four" live. I won't touch the Sinatra comment, he didn't (& couldn't) sing Country. Bing & Dean sung him under the table anyway

  • he's the best we'll ever get

  • What a gift this man had....a beautiful voice.

  • He is sooooo good, and funny, oncore!!!! ha ha ha good on you Faron.

  • Brian Guerre.(sp)

    Stone Soldier

  • hE MAKES ME CRY FOR "YOUTH".SO GLAD HE'S STILL WITH US IN SONGS.

  • i saw more love in her eyes when i left her than most foolish men will ever see...

  • George Jones, didn't need an orchrashra.....

I think Nashville singers, "killed" his sound.

Farron, got a nice voice...want to "try" Frank Sinatra"/

    Just sayin...

  • A #1 hit for Faron Young on the Country & Western charts. This was the 224th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks charts, #3 in the United Kingdom, and #4 in Ireland.

  • Tough times x

  • Awesome performer! Wish I could have had the opportunity to see him perform live...

  • Last night I told her shut up and roll over!!

  • What a great singer!

  • Years and years ago down in New Orleans, La. WLS radio, Charlie Douglas the night time DJ. Every morning at 4am he would play this song. Then up in Nashville, Tn. WSM eadio, Ralph Emery was the night time DJ. The Opry artist would drop by for a visit. That was when radio was, shall we say, "GOOD". These guys didn t have a rotation list. They played what they wanted to play. Now the top 20 only. Every morning at 8.37 am you hear the same crap. Again tomorrow. Until it drops outta the top 20.

  • Okay Josh Turner is ok but he's none of those guys that's in the Hall Of Fame not even close compaired to people like Marty Robbins, Jim Reeves and Faron Young He's just another flash in the pan i think it's just disrespectful that people already want to put him and taylor swift in the same category as the true great that came before them and while i'm at it this would be Faron Young's last #1 hit and it Topped on 2-19-72.

  • @TheSkaggs54 Amen. And I'm so thankful for people using this fantastic tool called youtube to remind those of us who have forgotten the beautiful, wonderful past country music.

  • A true legend,sadly missed.

  • i love the older country country is all i listen to theres nothing else like it

  • The future of country lies with Scotty McCreery

  • @brighteyesnicey well if it does, Sad it say it remains lost. Just what country music needs, another Josh Turner.

  • forgot how brill he is

  • Shortly before Faron passed away he was interviewed for a documentary on the history of country music. ( Marty Stuart was one of the hosts) He stated that most of the then "current singers" had no pitch and no vocals to set them apart from other singers at the time. He said they voices were so " studioized" that their live on stage sound did not begin to match their recordings.

    He was correct.

  • A quarter in the jukebox, a dime in the pinball, a hamburger and fries... and two hundred more miles to drive... All the old country singers made the nights shorter and the roads much more comfortable.,,, These artists were 'doctors', they brought more peace and comfort then any amount of pills (except No-Doz) ever could... Thanks for the memories....

  • love it

  • Can't understand this great talent's demise...??

  • @TheBeerman43 he had lung cancer at the end and was very depressed to not be recognized by modern country radio in favor of the new flavors of that time. So, he decided to end it himself. Very sad as I talked to him on the phone one time. Great guy and down to earth as he had no idea who I was. Just made regular convo like I was a buddy.

  • One of my favorite songs. Great waltz.

  • I am ex country music DJ and had interviewed Faron when he was on his way to Nashville to appear on Nashville Now. Great guy in person as well one of the great country singers. It was a very sad day when we lost him but we will always have his music and fond memory.

  • I am ex country music DJ and had interviewed Faron. Great guy in person as well one of the great country singers

  • THE ABSOLUTE BEST MALE COUNTRY SINGER TO DATE.

  • oh its four in the morning, the night lowered my defense and memories of her slipped back into my mind.

  • What year was this song released?

  • @DesireIsHunger 1972 got to number 3 in UK

  • ty faron

  • they dont make them like this anymore. R.I.P Faron. He will forever be one of the greatest country artist of all time.

  • nicest man I ever met besides my husband

  • I grew up and raised on this music and I miss it so much!!!!!

  • whod think i was 20!? i love real country music :D

  • This is the best, but Taylor Swift writes from the heart just as these ole fellars did and that makes her alright with me.... She has all the modern tech to make her sound super too. Keep writing Taylor cuz I'll surely be listenin'. Just my opinion is all. Guessin' I'm still entitled to that.

  • the best!

  • priceless GEM!!!!!

  • I'm 78 now and still wailing out the oldtime country. Farron was an ispiration to me in pursueing music as a part time vocation and a full time hobby. FARRON CAME TO OUR TOWN AND WAS THE SAME IN PERSON AS HE WAS ONSTAGE. 100% AMERICAN COUNTRY BOY AND A BLESSING TO US ALL.

I'm still pickin his stuff... go google .... tpicker1111

  • This sort of country music I can listen to. It's pretty good.

  • He could have taught Sinatra how to sing.

  • everyone knows the song by george jones whos gonna fill their shoes, well here we are most all the stars are gone whos gonna fill their shoes?........nobody, the days of this kind of music are gone and will only be heard through people who keep it alive. so long to all the great stars of yesterday and i wish i could say goodbye to todays singers to but i think they are here to stay...much to my demise

  • Remembering this gifted & talented singer/musician & actor in the wee hours of the morning ( just about 4 AM ) & looked up his BIO on wikipedia ~ what a loss. He is missed but fondly remembered in this 'digital revolution'.

  • Todays country except for a chosen few, doesnt have the heart that people like Faron had. Thank god there are people in this world that wont let go of it and we can still listen. Thank you for posting this......brought back lots of memorys of the real thing.

  • This track was a massive humongous hit in the UK and introduced Faron Young to the British audience .......not only the country fans but across the board.

  • This song is one of my all time favorites. It brings back so many memories of Saturday night dances at the VFW where the beer flowed freely and good times were had by all. Lots of cowboy hats and boots and the young guys smelled like Brut and British Sterling and all the old men smelled like Old Spice. I wish I could go back and have that much fun again.

  • @bonniecamilla nothing wrong with old spice, and brut.

  • @PIPENTHECAT___ I SURE AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENT 100%. NOTHING NOW, BUT BUBBLEGUM WANNABE'S. NO CLASS, TRASHY CLOTHING AND NO TALENT. BUT FARON, JIM, ET, PORTER, JC,PATSY ALL HAD CLASS AND TALENT & WOULD THE LAST ONE LEAVING NASHVILLE "PLEASE TURN OUT THE COTTON PICKIN LIGHTS"..

  • Lovely lyrics and lovey song. Thanks for posting.

  • i can,t listen to that crap they call country music .the same goes for croke i missed the k a pig squeeling could sound good if it hsd a fifty piece band behind it .

  • Faron's voice never aged.

  • There will never be any replacements for our old real Country Singers. Faron was awesome!

  • Carry Underwood is about the only that came thru that has a good voice for country.

  • @gene16969 did you know he commited suicide?

  • he was feed up with it all

  • he was fed up with all

  • I swear to God he is winkin at me!

  • i COULD NOT HELP IT!!! I just had to go back and look up who wrote Four In The Morning as it is still one of my favorites and I love Faron's cutting up as I miss it so working in his office building on the second floor. But I was right...Jerry Chestnut wrote the song !! Haven't lost all of my wonderful memory yet and him saying..Ahh..Billy Strange. Will never forget the doll in his ofice. Anyone that went there will know who I am talking of !! :-)

  • I saw Faron lying on a couch in a Nashville Now trailer prior to his being on TV. The man was a hoot. I laughed at him until I hurt. What a magic magic magic voice. Promotion cannot buy class and style. I miss him....This is still great music.

  • who could say no to this song wow some strange people out there like like and like once more hats off to you thank you to whom ever posted this thank you

  • WOW! How time has flown by. This is one of my favorite's of Faron's and was this written my Jerry Chestnut??? He was at my wedding on Halloween 1977. Faron was a mess and Billy Strange had his office above us. Always pulling jokes on each other. This is when Country was REAL!!! Not these kids of today! Precious memories. Seems like he even had a place downtown nashville called the Jailhouse.

  • a pure class act.

  • my favorite

  • Once upon I drove an 18 wheeler. WLS out of New Orleans would play this song every morning at 4 AM. Thanks Charlie Douglas. Faron Young was the early version of George Straight. Think about it.

  • That's Great! Great country singer; great orchestra; great song!

  • Wow, the great Faron Young. How old was he here?

  • I worked at bar called this

  • A wonderful song and a wonderful man. His personality shows through in this video. I wish he could see all the comments about him. It hurts to imagine how down he was at the end. I met him once at an NCO club. He came over to our table and he was so nice and friendly. I was already a big fan, but after I saw him preform I have been devoted to him. What a loss to country music fans!

  • A excellent biography came out about Faron by Diane Diekman I would highly reccomend reading it.

  • Wow, Thanks for Posting

  • He must have been a riot to see in concert. Such a big loss. Loved Faron.

  • Some songs are meant for just one artiste, and this is one of them. Brilliant.

  • What a beautiful voice! He recorded some beautiful songs.

  • The more I watch this, the more I miss this wonderful man.

  • Saw Faron in the NCO Club at Langley AFB - he was a serviceman's friend.

  • A few years before Faron Young passed away he was interviewed about the up and coming country singers. Without mailice he said the majority had NO distinction in their voices.

How right he was then and it applies to many artists today.

  • A great favorite of mine!

  • Faron is one of the best country ever had. I'm glad my dad got me hooked on Faron Young. and other great country talents of the past. R.I.P Faron

  • Smooth for sure. There aren't enough O's in smooth to describe Faron.

  • smooth

  • He was magic !!

  • I used to do his song (or at least I thought I was doing it...!), in the '70's and 80's. But this live version is about one-hundred times better than the original (canned) released version. Faron Young (as a vocalist) never got the props he deserved.

    What a talent.....!!!!!

  • Pure talent. You can't buy it...learn it...or inherit it. Faron was first in line when they passed it out. What a loss when he left us but, thankfully, we had him for a while.

  • If you guys like this - look up Mel Street

I just "discovered" Mel Street !

    lol

  • lol.. yYu all said it so true! Give us the old country back..:)

  • That is what you call class. Brilliant!!!

  • LOVE HIS VOICE

  • todays country music singers talent all combined and compared to any past artist like Faron Young would not be the size of a pimple on my ass ...I refuse to endure listening to the crap they play today, I tried to listen to it, but vomiting is not a habit i enjoy.

  • everything about Faron Young says gentlemen & professional, and he does it while enjoying himself.

  • @mothchild88

If you want new country go to rap and pop radio stations, new country is not real country. We love old country that is why those singers still have their music played

  • Faron was one of the best of the best. His voice and songs make you want to grab your partner and snuggle and *&^%$! the night away. :) Alan Jackson, George Strait and Ronnie Dunne are our current best. Voices like these are so rare. I'm so sad Ronnie is retiring.

    Thank God for You Tube!

  • I am so proud that my momma named me after a great legend.. Now all I wish is that I could sing as good as him !

  • They really DON'T make them like this anymore

  • @jimrockone There's plenty of good singers out there -but they'nt given a chance all they want are those gloss lipped Dolly birds who have'nt gotta clue how to put a song over

  • I have always loved Faron. After meeting him back in 1972 I was so impressed with his talent, his wit, his good looks and his classy show outfits. Gene Watson is still doing terrific country gold throughout his 30 plus years of entertaining.

Thank you for posting . - Paula

  • Thank you Prefab Sprout

  • This song makes me want to dance with my husband all around the house....Faron Young had such an incredible voice, rich full just beautiful.

  • Had this song on 8-track once upon a time. Good times.

  • F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S-!

  • One of the very few Country records to chart in the UK. There should have been many more, but how could there be without airplay?

  • This was taped at a tribute to Ernest Tubb. A Nashville legend says that Faron recorded this song while healing from a car wreck. He had broken his jaw in the wreck and for a short time sang with a lisp when pronouncing words that started with "S". Count the words that start with "S" in this song; there are two I think, "she" twice and "saw" once. This was taped years after he overcame the lisp after completely healing. Listen real close to the original and you can barely hear the lisp.

  • Thank you pro3-I was wondering why they kept showing ET.

  • Every time I watch this, I think of what a gift Faron's music was and still is.

  • my favorite singer, gives me chills.

  • love this song ma dad played it to me a lot god bless u dad rip

  • Knocks my socks off. I always enjoyed his music and this was his best.

  • This song is tremendous. For me - this is Faron's signature song (next to Hello Walls of course). Faron sounds wonderful as always. Many entertainers here in town always have this song in their shows which proves just how popular it is - and enjoyed so much. Such a smooth and soulful voice Faron has and a million dollar personality. Love him. I shed a few tears seeing Ernest in the audience. What a terrific gentleman he was. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • wonderful performance and it capture's Faron's personality at the start of the video...it looked like former Opry manager Hal Durham was sitting behind Ernest. i think this is from a 1982 or 1983 tribute to Ernest...I have a video clip of Conway singing "The Clown" from this same special.

  • That intro is funny as hell...

  • jep

  • aman to that comeonwheels. I agree,i live in Nashville and it . cmt and radio and music row has killed real country music,it's all just pop these days.We miss you Faron,Lefty and Hank!

  • that red tie

  • This is Great

  • He brings a tear to my eye. Didn't he know just how much we loved him? Mr Young was the very best.

  • why?

  • He was in poor health and depressed over what an abomination Nashville had become. He wasn't pleased with the way they handled the old timers and gave them no respect. Even with people dying for the cause the bastards in Nashville refuse to change.

  • Faron's personality also came into play as well...he and Webb Pierce were both outspoken, too. I'm singling out those two because they represented a huge amount of country music's identity in the 1950's and 1960's. As the decades went by Faron and Webb's tell-it-like-it-is approach was a sharp contrast to the approach a lot of the 1970's and 1980's country artists and I honestly feel as time went on newer audiences didn't know how to take their larger-than-life image's...

  • When audiences today see this clip, if they don't have much knowledge or respect of country music's history, they're going to wonder "what's going on here?" because you don't have TV specials saluting singers hardly at all anymore...this George Strait celebration later on will be a fluke because you typically do not see that kind of camaraderie anymore...even during contemporary award shows I notice this distance that seems to be there amongst everyone like they'd rather be somewhere else.

  • And as most of you all know, the Hall of Fame segment isn't even televised on the CMA Awards anymore...which for many is the final straw...and I bet Faron would have predicted this would happen and he probably did long ago. The national telecast of artists being recognized for their long careers during that segment was a big deal for everyone involved plus it spotlighted many acts not in the mainstream anymore and that's why the segment was eliminated....it had nothing to do with time issues.

  • Stopped listening to Country on the radio several years ago...now they have brought in this Taylor Swift.....she cannot sing and will not have the career like Pasty, Jim, Johnny, Willie, George, Tammy, Dolly and a few more. This is what they are wanting lets start demanding more...we want good music. Not some screaming trash, I could make better music with my pots & pans in the kitchen.

  • @pigpenthecat

You got that so damn right!!!!! The crap they play now on the radio is garbage and not the true sound of country music.

I dont even listen to the radio anymore, just play my country cds now.

Alan Jackson and George Strait said it best when they sang their song

    Murder On Music Row

  • @noaanhc How do you know whats on the radio if you dont listen to it,Derrrr

  • @pigpenthecat Don't stop listening to country....I agree that Taylor is ready for the dump. You seem to love all of my faves. I was raised outside of Nashville, now live in Minnesota. Don't forget the country sound...it'll come back...I hope.

  • @pigpenthecat ...she won't have the career like them totally but shes a freakin million air though I wouldn't care.. with her money

  • @FutureSkycar ....It all depends if you are only in it for the money or if you are truely a lover of music and all the nuances that you can feel when it is performed with soul, love, talent and grace. Personally, I prefer the later, money will take care of the bills, but never fill your soul.

  • @pigpenthecat

I agree 100% Taylor is a pretty face nothing more. Very few true artist singing today you can count them on one hand. I think the closest you get these days is Alan Jackson. Today's stuff they call country sounds more like pop or watered down rock... wish we had more of those singers you listed!! We need em...

  • @LillithCarmichael That is why Susan Boyle is such a hit. She actually has talent. She is not a country singer, but man her voice just explodes and you feel every emotion in that song. It is in her soul.

  • @pigpenthecat I couldn't have said that any better. :)

  • @pigpenthecat I agree with u; Faron Young; one of the best we had in true country............

  • @pigpenthecat go to 97.....3

  • @pigpenthecat Country music isn't what it was.

  • Graet voice, great singer. THANKS!

  • God bless you Faron, wherever you may be!

  • Mr. Smooth

  • One of his best!

  • my favorite from faron

  • The best!!

  • such a great entertainer!!!!
