Can't that the horse is enjoying this. Totilas looks all but not happy or full of pleasure. It's not natural for a horse to make this dance moves. Horses are built to run fast... but this "sport" is just a farce.
@robertobhro 'a sport is a form of physical activity that requires a degree of skill, especially at high levels'. Equestrianism is controling a 1200lb animal with a mind of its own between your legs using nothing for communication but your own body. If that isn't physical activity, I don't know what is. People have died as a result of indulging in the sport of riding horses. It is one of the most dangerous SPORTS

LDR is not rollkur. Rollkur is a disconnect the rider has only the neck the back is hollow causing pain for the horse and a disconnect for the rider. Momentary hyperflextion of the neck wile riding the horse ROUND during a warm up session is not a detriment .LDR is a powerful tool in the right hands it's not for the novice .it takes a special talent to utilize the method correctly very few will ever be able to achieve . So if you don't know how and I'm sure you don't don't condemn LDR or put
@LuvMitch247 actually every move made in Dressage is one that would be made in the normal life of a wild horse. We are only having the horses use their muscles. It's like this: If I just naturally pick up a broom and start sweeping a mess that's fine. But when someone asks me to, I suddenly don't think I can, or will. It's the same way with Dressage.
@LuvMitch247 It takes TRUST to make them dance like this.. You could never get that expression of joy and temperament if ythe horse was abused or threatened to do these exercises... But sadly, some people abuse their horses thinking that will make them more obidient... That is NOT the case here....
@Quteblonde72 I agree. This horse was not abused. This horse enjoys the dance and takes pleasure in the applause. This was an absolute majestic expression of a horse's abilities. Just beautiful!
@LuvMitch247 Not everybody is abusing to have those results but this guy does (he uses rollkur....). It takes a lot less time if you use the abuse method, that's why 80% of the internationals are doing it.... But you can do it differently... International dressage competition could stop this by prohibiting those forms of abuse :)
It is a shame that such beautiful horses are never actually allowed to be horses. Top leval dressage horses are boxed and mostly only ever worked in an arena. Personally I find this shocking and disgusting. Imagine what would happen to a human if they were treated like that. They are never turned out and allowed to just be a horse.
@FireFlyHorzey You find this shocking and disgusting? Why not pick on race horses or reining horses or rodeo horses?
You know there are countries that put horses in front of wagons and plows. Yet other countries eat their horses when they are done with them. I think you came to the wrong page to whine.
@wejump2 Actually I do pick on them! I have two ex racehorses at the moment and the whole modern equestrian industry is flawed badly! And I may ask you this there may be horses in plows but they're probably kept in a more natural fashion so may be happier. And personally I think eating them may be kinder than shoving their head into a unnatural state and kicking them around and arena for hours a day. Yes I may seem 'over the top' but only because I care for the horses peace and happiness.
@FireFlyHorzey Classical dressage rather than competitive dressage is actually about rebalancing the horse into a natural state with a rider on its back. It's not forcing the horse into an unnatural state, it's looking at how a horse ought to move, balanced, with a rider and the goal is to have the rider get the horse there. The problem is it takes time and effort and patience and people like Gal and Grunsven have started using rollkur (from western pleasure) instead.
@FireFlyHorzey That's not true. My trainer's Grand Prix horse has full turn out and my trainer rode with Steffen Peters. Now, I don't care for Edward Gal because his methods involve rollkur, but a lot of Grand Prix riders's horses have turn out. Dressage means "training" and it's the core of horsemanship because it teaches balance for the horse and rider. Read Nuno Oliveira and Sally Swift before you make assumptions since ex racehorses usually have to have dressage to get their brains back.
@FireFlyHorzey You've made some dramatic statements about an incredible rider and an entire genre due to your own personal baggage and what I suspect are youthful AR sympathies--may I suggest taking a nice walk outside far away from your computer?
that horse looks funny. i like the scene in the expendables with the really skinny horse. its really skinny you know. but anyway, it just shows you how cruel some people are to animals. in the movie jason statham says: "are you fucking crazy? you almost killed me!" this furthermore develops the idea of animal cruelty through rage and anger. i hope that horse is okay now. also i like the scene were terry crews has an aa12. its very funny, but not as funny as the skinny horse.
We will get you back in our one Home Sweet Home, Holland, Totilas... He obviously walked sooooo much better with Gal. He has got no connection or anything with Rath... Poor horse.
@emillyy123 that is riding horse.people not connected with riding horse thinks that you must kicking horse to make it walking and you are just sitting in the saddle and horse is doing all and what is the reason that you are tired after riding horse?you don't do anything.<that is not true.Gal is doing many complicated commends and he must be perfect if he wants to horse do it. so it is very hard to ride and train horse. i love dressage, it's the hardest sport in the world! sorry 4 my bad english.
@emillyy123 oh the unseeing eye. that is what is so masterful about the top riders, dressage and show jumpers alike. they seem to do nothing. they are doing lots of thing, but they are wonderfully subtle, that people like you can't see it. the whole point of good riding is that you don't make things obvious at all. It's all about connecting with your horse, that way you don't need to constantly be visibly doing things. it's all about riding with your mind.
Dressage is actually very good for the horse because unlike normal riding dressage stretches the horses legs and muscles. so it is a good thing not something painful or mean :)
@BellaMollyLion poor horse? poor horse? I am afraid you have got your facts wrong. That 'poor horse' is one of the worlds most famous dressage horse! He would be treated amazingly!!! and if you bothered to look his ears flicker a bit but never do they go back!!!
No, of course not. I've never said that he will be ride better with his new owners! This is just the same huge crap.
How do you figure? Do you think because I said "or to be sold for a million dollar"? I meant only that the horse has no idea that it is famous and is being sold expensive! His famous name has no use for him.
@BellaMollyLion Again I reply! Did you notice his ears? The horses ears tell us what the horse is thinking. His ears clearly are floppy stating that he is relaxed and enjoying what he is doing!!! He doesn't need to know that he is worth a million dollars, he doesn't need to know that he has scored one of the highest dressage marks! What matters to him, his owners and all horsey people is that he has a loving home, a full belly, a loving owner and is around those he loves!
@BellaMollyLion he only raises his front legs high BECAUSE he has impulsion from the hind end. if he didn't, he would've never been able to score a freaking 92.3%!!!
@BellaMollyLion I didn't know you were the missing 27th O judge. You sure know alot. Lets see your video im sure you can do better being you are such a superb critic and dressage expert.
The horse was ridden in front of 5 I an O judges viewed from 3 different directions and only you could see what was wrong, very impressive.
I love this team, the horse, tortilas, he's so glad for doing dressage and understands what he has to do that this is just beautiful. He loves his Edward and this has effects. This a real role model for all that do dressage. So unlike Anky.
@Diabwo My horse comes to me. I ride him all the time. No sugar included.
And wejump2 is right. At open shows you can win money, and they're not that expensive, but dressage shows are ridiculously expensive and you don't win a penny till the upper levels.
Give it up. Our horses are buried at twelve feet. Our water is 127' down. You really have a problem with a different point of view. Tortilla, of course, is a magnificent animal. Dressage is obviously the center of your universe. Get out in the world more; then our point of view won't be so hard to accept.
@Diabwo First of all you are the person that is at a dressage page complianing about people that love Dressage.
Why not start your own page...I'm thinking rude, inbred internet posers that don't like riding. It seems appropriate to me. 1207 people like this page 49 don't. Why don't you find that 49 and start your own loosers club.
If you haven't figured it out yet you are offensive.
Take some deep breaths and a moment tp review. I began (look it up) by saying that this video is an example of a horse being made to do stupid people tricks. I never said all riding is abusive-- other writers implied this. I stand by everything I've said. I will not post a pathetic photograph of this poor horse on the Internet. That you cannot believe there are many normal people in this world who care for aging, abused, or neglected animals without some radical agenda says much about you; it
@Diabwo I believe there are normal people that take care of older horses.I just don't believe you. I already posted that we keep our retired horses. . It's to contrived and btw burying horses on your property poisons the water table..
You attack the best Dressage horse and rider in the world, have no appreciation for the work and dedication. Then you blab blab blab about how nobody can understand how good you are. Even if you arn't lying you still sound to me like children of the corn.
People are afraid to face facts and get real. As a highly educated professional in another field, I have the time and money to research and learn, in an open minded way, about these issues. And to provide a home for the animals I admire as a species. To hold Totilas up a a typical example of how horses are treated is an uneducated view. Think again.
@Diabwo I think you are a fraud. I suspect you don't even own a horse. You just want a venue to whine about how good you are and how bad the rest of the world is. You clearly are no expert in the horse business because you haven't figured out that Dressage Showing looses money 99 % of the time and most people do it (at great personal exspense) for the love of the sport. So please face the real facts and go bother the cow tippers.
@wejump2 It must be hard to believe that someone would own horses who doesn't believe in riding them. That would be just too hard to take, right? Keep trying, you'll get there. I do not doubt the sport is deeply loved by many people. I once did. I'm going out to check on ours now -- and I'll walk past where the horses we nursed until the end, to give them a gentle death, are buried on our property. I'll pet our little guy who was maimed, just for you. I know you mean well. So do I.
@Diabwo It's great that you care for once abused horses, but calling horses being ridden by people abuse is ridiculous. Not all riders abuse and beat their horses when riding. You must have witnessed quite a bit of that, but you do realize there is bad apples in every aspect of life and that doesn't mean it is all bad. If you came on here to bash on good people(who take good care of their horses) because they ride then you need to get a life.
@Diabwo You are so fake, condisending and attempting to be tragic..Yes I have my retired horses at home too I believe you don't ride or own horses and are attempting to promote your own weird agenda. If you don't doubt that the sport is deeply loved by riders why do you keep harping on it? Why not post a picture of your maimed horse right now and put an end to that part of debate. Put your Right hand on his head for i.d. purposes. I will be waiting for your b.s. excuse for not posting a pic.
... You've bought the agenda that is sold by people who are in it for the money. You're not thinking for yourselves. It's all about what humans like to do, and how good they think they look, and how good the look with this beautiful horse. I'm sure most are not willing to accept these truths. There's too much money in the industry. And when the horse can't do it any more, what happens to most of them? Pampered? Get real.
@Diabwo Poor Totilas will have to bred 4 or 5 hundred mares a year for the rest of his days. You seem to be a poor miserable person that want's to find evil in the most beautifull of sports. These horses are well taken care of. Many older horses go on to be school masters. Yes we all get old and there are no happy endings for any of us. My advice to you is get over it. Find a sport like bull fighting to pick on.
Either you truly respect and understand horses as animals, and their instincts and language, or you use them to make yourself feel good. If you have adopted a horse who cannot be ridden any more because of age, abuse, or injury, and give them a good and gentle life-- as we do-- you appreciate the species. What I'm hearing here is high- pitched whining by people who believe what they are taught by people who stand to make a profit from this industry. You're not thinking for yourselves. You've bo
@Diabwo Look, I can see you don't care for riding and I care less whether you do or not, but don't go bashing people and saying it's abusive when these people treat these horses like royalty. Just because we ride does not mean we think they are our slaves. My horses are my best friends. We ride for the love of the sport and the horses, NOT the money. We do not abuse, and if you are going to call anything cruelty go whine about calf-roping or racing 2 year olds.
I know this is the most least important thing about the test, but the black color of Totilas just matches with the music. I couldn't see it matching with a chestnut. It should also be illegal for commentators to talk during the freestyle.

@ItsMeTheHorseLover:
I know who he is. And you think he is pleased to be one of the worlds most famous dressage horse or to be sold for a million dollar?
The horse is sports equipment, his performance only aims to introduce money.
Look, why is he ridden with curb? For beautiful looking hyperflexion!
His legs: front top, back flop! He has absolutely no push from behind, which only makes him kicking with his front legs!
Sure, it looks impressive, but the truth is absolutely wrong riding!

@456duifje:
No, of course not. I've never said that he will be ride better with his new owners! This is just the same huge crap.
How do you figure? Do you think because I said "or to be sold for a million dollar"? I meant only that the horse has no idea that it is famous and is being sold expensive! His famous name has no use for him.
BellaMollyLion 5 months ago
@BellaMollyLion Again I reply! Did you notice his ears? The horses ears tell us what the horse is thinking. His ears clearly are floppy stating that he is relaxed and enjoying what he is doing!!! He doesn't need to know that he is worth a million dollars, he doesn't need to know that he has scored one of the highest dressage marks! What matters to him, his owners and all horsey people is that he has a loving home, a full belly, a loving owner and is around those he loves!
ItsMeTheHorseLover 5 months ago
@ItsMeTheHorseLover:
And they all lived happily ever after... (Attention irony)
But it would be nice.
BellaMollyLion 5 months ago
@BellaMollyLion he only raises his front legs high BECAUSE he has impulsion from the hind end. if he didn't, he would've never been able to score a freaking 92.3%!!!

@BellaMollyLion I didn't know you were the missing 27th O judge. You sure know alot. Lets see your video im sure you can do better being you are such a superb critic and dressage expert.
The horse was ridden in front of 5 I an O judges viewed from 3 different directions and only you could see what was wrong, very impressive.

@Diabwo Although if what you're saying is true and you do adopt these horses, I'll give you credit for that. I just don't think riding is cruel.

Diabwo 7 months ago

That you cannot believe there are many normal people in this world who care for aging, abused, or neglected animals without some radical agenda says much about you; it
Diabwo 7 months ago
@Diabwo I believe there are normal people that take care of older horses.I just don't believe you. I already posted that we keep our retired horses. . It's to contrived and btw burying horses on your property poisons the water table..
You attack the best Dressage horse and rider in the world, have no appreciation for the work and dedication. Then you blab blab blab about how nobody can understand how good you are. Even if you arn't lying you still sound to me like children of the corn.
wejump2 7 months ago
People are afraid to face facts and get real. As a highly educated professional in another field, I have the time and money to research and learn, in an open minded way, about these issues. And to provide a home for the animals I admire as a species. To hold Totilas up a a typical example of how horses are treated is an uneducated view. Think again.
Diabwo 7 months ago
@Diabwo I think you are a fraud. I suspect you don't even own a horse. You just want a venue to whine about how good you are and how bad the rest of the world is. You clearly are no expert in the horse business because you haven't figured out that Dressage Showing looses money 99 % of the time and most people do it (at great personal exspense) for the love of the sport. So please face the real facts and go bother the cow tippers.
wejump2 7 months ago 2
@wejump2 It must be hard to believe that someone would own horses who doesn't believe in riding them. That would be just too hard to take, right? Keep trying, you'll get there. I do not doubt the sport is deeply loved by many people. I once did. I'm going out to check on ours now -- and I'll walk past where the horses we nursed until the end, to give them a gentle death, are buried on our property. I'll pet our little guy who was maimed, just for you. I know you mean well. So do I.
Diabwo 7 months ago
@Diabwo It's great that you care for once abused horses, but calling horses being ridden by people abuse is ridiculous. Not all riders abuse and beat their horses when riding. You must have witnessed quite a bit of that, but you do realize there is bad apples in every aspect of life and that doesn't mean it is all bad. If you came on here to bash on good people(who take good care of their horses) because they ride then you need to get a life.
VivaLaEquus 7 months ago
@Diabwo You are so fake, condisending and attempting to be tragic..Yes I have my retired horses at home too I believe you don't ride or own horses and are attempting to promote your own weird agenda. If you don't doubt that the sport is deeply loved by riders why do you keep harping on it? Why not post a picture of your maimed horse right now and put an end to that part of debate. Put your Right hand on his head for i.d. purposes. I will be waiting for your b.s. excuse for not posting a pic.
wejump2 7 months ago
Pampered? Get real.
Diabwo 7 months ago
@Diabwo Poor Totilas will have to bred 4 or 5 hundred mares a year for the rest of his days. You seem to be a poor miserable person that want's to find evil in the most beautifull of sports. These horses are well taken care of. Many older horses go on to be school masters. Yes we all get old and there are no happy endings for any of us. My advice to you is get over it. Find a sport like bull fighting to pick on.
wejump2 7 months ago
Either you truly respect and understand horses as animals, and their instincts and language, or you use them to make yourself feel good. If you have adopted a horse who cannot be ridden any more because of age, abuse, or injury, and give them a good and gentle life-- as we do-- you appreciate the species. What I'm hearing here is high- pitched whining by people who believe what they are taught by people who stand to make a profit from this industry. You're not thinking for yourselves. You've bo

You don't get any more beautiful or majestic than that.
VivaLaEquus 7 months ago

VivaLaEquus 7 months ago
To give up riding, so joyful for the rider, one must conquer the need to control. Many are unable to do so.
Diabwo 7 months ago
@Diabwo Look, I can see you don't care for riding and I care less whether you do or not, but don't go bashing people and saying it's abusive when these people treat these horses like royalty. Just because we ride does not mean we think they are our slaves. My horses are my best friends. We ride for the love of the sport and the horses, NOT the money. We do not abuse, and if you are going to call anything cruelty go whine about calf-roping or racing 2 year olds.
VivaLaEquus 7 months ago 28
@VivaLaEquus the horse is drooling on himself, is that normal?
annaroxx14 5 months ago
@annaroxx14 Yes, it means that they are accepting the bit and are on the bit and working it.
VivaLaEquus 5 months ago
@annaroxx14 Yes, it's actually very desirable to have a horse that "drools" in dressage. It shows that he is accepting the bit.
irockface18 5 months ago
I know this is the most least important thing about the test, but the black color of Totilas just matches with the music. I couldn't see it matching with a chestnut. It should also be illegal for commentators to talk during the freestyle.
