  • I remember atching this 4 years ago, still love the video mate, you still got this baby?

  • @StephenFiorentini Still have it, it's my favorite cymbal!

  • but it isn't even that dry!

  • Sounds like a good cymbal for Metal

  • @guitargod909 Well, now that you mention it, Kerim Lechner uses one, and he is pretty freakin' metal!

Give him a listen at /watch?v=qGjtnvrxtWQ if you want to hear this ride in an extreme metal context.

  • I have the Hand Hammered Raw Bell Dry Ride.. I'll never play any other ride.

  • what drum heads are those?

  • @donnyfox123 They seem to be some type of Aquarian

  • @donnyfox123 They look like Aquarian to me

  • I've got one of these. It's amazing! Perfect ping over the wash, excellent bell. It sounds a little washier on youtube than it does in real life. Wood tip is the way to go. Gives it a fuller, earthier sound. The bell is LOUD! Excellent cymbal. The god of the rides.

  • People its just the video. It could have got corrupted or something while it was being uploaded. I'm probably thinking about getting this ride. Although, I prefer Zildjian.

  • does this or any of the other raw bell dry rides have a good crash to it?

  • @tylerjschwartz1 Out of the 4 RBDR's I find that this one has the best crash to it. I'm looking for a Sabian 21'' Ride that is pretty much the same as the Zildjian 21'' Sweet Ride.

  • @HenryTholomewPlague i would say the 21" aax stage ride and the aax 21" memphis ride are the most similiar to the sweet ride.

  • @tylerjschwartz1 Really? I heard the Stage Ride and it has a massive ping to it and when it's crashed on it just sounds like a Z Custom/Z3 ride when crashed....not good at all.

  • @HenryTholomewPlague well i havent tried it in person, I've just heard that it has an ok crash to it. If you want a good crashable ride thats 21" look into the HH or HHX's because sabian doesn't offer many crashable rides that are 21" and bright.

  • whats on ur toms? o_O

  • Aquarian Studio X heads.

  • seriously? downy?

  • ? I dont understand what ur trying to say?

  • im sayin you are fucking stupid... thats all

  • what heads are you using?

  • Aquarian Studio-X heads

  • which one is better for metal this or the aax?

  • cuz i cant decide

  • It depends on how you use it.

  • aax for metal, try the aax metal ride ;)

  • aax would be better for me real washy and it has a piercing bell

  • the best i <3 this ride and i have this ride...

  • Sounds nice.

  • does anybody know what kind of sabian ride i can get that has a bright pingy sound, and is good to crash on?

  • the rbdrs are good for that actually.

  • yeah im thinking of a AAX RBDR

  • yeh fits your description almost perfectly.

  • sweeeeeeeet

  • @A7xdrumr dont. trust me i have it

  • This one. I got it a week ago and i can't believe it. It's the best damn cymbal ever made! :)

  • is it good to crash too?

  • It's not bad, but I wouldn't use it primarily as a crash because of the stick definition.

  • sweeet

  • promark FTW

  • i like this cymbals ia need find my cymbals

  • Bought one of these yesterday! It sounds really good.

  • i have this one. it was free lol

  • if any one knows is there a zildjian crash that has a similar or exactly same sound as the sabian 18" HHX Studio Crash its really pissing me off i cant find a cymbal to complement my zildjian 18" medium-thin crash

  • I'm not sure of an exact equivalent, but try looking in the K Zildjian line. If you like the HHX Studio Crash, buy it! Just because it's a Sabian cymbal doesn't mean it won't work with a Zildjian one. Most recorded drums have a variety of brands in order to compliment the overall sound.

  • ya but i looked it up if i were to get sponsered by zildjian different brands are out of the question

  • I wouldn't be to worried about that.

  • believe me, you wont get sponsored. get the Sabian.

  • Comment removed

  • sounds like i don't really believe you... i don't think you don't even have a website (not a shitty myspace), and like... there are, how much? 1 million bands without recordings, and some good ones with 30 recordings that have been playing for 40 years and never got a anything from music, and your garage band will get endorsement from ZILDJIAN? (we aren't even talking of a budget company, we are talking about legendary cymbal casters Zildjian....).

  • youre a fucking ten year old kid. quit jerkin off and wake up

  • I like Zildjian 22" A kustom Ping Ride better

  • I don't like ping rides...

  • That's fine.

  • wow that bell projects

  • great cymbal. i have the hand hammered version. i prefer the low end of it

  • sabian AA cymbals are well describe to be vintage style. .. does it work with the kind of genre like alternative metal? does it fit with jazz?

  • AA and AAX are the models that Sabian makes with rock genres in mind, while HH and HHX are made for styles like jazz and fusion. This is mainly due to AA and AAX being lathed for more 'cut' through the mix and HH and HHX being hand hammered for more wash.

  • my band plays alternative metal so AA and AAX are best.. what is the difference between AA and AAX?

  • AAX cymbals are typically brighter, AAX cymbals like the Metal and AAXPlosion models would probably work well for you.

  • great . thanks a lot .

  • i think they could fit into swing, vintage rock, not alternative metal i dont think

    thats just my personal opinion

    Steve

  • The AAX 22" Metal Ride is a really great, and crisp cymbal. If your looking for a very good ride cymbal I would suggest that. It isn't a cheap cymbal, but I got it used for about $160.

  • that really is a beautiful cymbal i want one.

  • Both the AAX and HHX raw bell dry rides are friggin fantastic. Right up there with the Zildjian K Custom special dry ride.

The K is a bit darker and doesnt have quite the same crashability as the Sabians, but it does have a terrific ping and nice dry stick attack.

  • i have a HHX 20" ride and while it has bright sound on impact it slowly fades to a much darker tone and it is amazing, but everyone has a different opinion so dont go buying that cymbal cuz i said its good, and always try them in stores before buying online, dont be retarded.

  • are those aquarian heads if so what model?

  • Yes, they are Aquarian Studio-X with Power Dots.

  • did you buy the dots seperate?

  • No, one of the options for the Studio X heads includes the dots built in.

  • thats a very nice cymbal but i really prefer the paiste signature dark metal ride 22"

it looks beutiful and i adore the sound

    but thats me

  • is this ride crashable?

  • The bell is so cutting o: i love this cymbal.

  • Im not a SABIAN fan but my friend has one and it sound GREAT I was realy suprised from the sound

  • sabian AA Rock Ride is also a very good cymbal

  • Isn't that the one Shannon Larkin uses?

  • No, he uses an HH Power Bell Ride.

  • yea and its $400

  • best ride ever HH power bell ride.. im buyin this for 2morrow o.o!

  • Chad smith actually uses the aa rock ride

  • My drum teacher said these things can get high in price.

  • I got mine for a little over $200, but cymbals have gone up in price recently. Now its around $260.

  • i might pick this cymbal up today

  • thats just a awsome cymbal...

(sprints out of his house and goes to the nearest music shop)

  • best ride ive ever heard..nuff said

  • wtf is up withthe skipping fast forward thing lol

  • i have this ride, for about 3 months now,

ill tell you people,... it is MAGNIFICENT!

very smooth towards a good feel =]

worth the money ONLY IF... this is the sound u want, and if it is that sound, your gonna be MORE than happy and satisfied =] i love it

  • thats a nice ride! perfect ping, fades out quick, pretty good crash! i do everything from Boston and REO to New Found glory and Atreyu so i need a versatile cymbal like this! thanks for making this video!

i used the 7AN for a long time. it doesnt last too long. i switched to 747Rock

  • Six months ago I bought two if these beauties, one of course I use as a ride which sounds so fucking awsome and the other one, I put my 18" AA china on top of, I seriously think I pissed a little when I first tried it out.

  • i just got this ride 2 weeks ago

    i love it!

  • I have a 10 inch AA splash, and I FREAKING LOVE IT!

    But this...this is just amazing!

  • Can you upload a video using that ride as a crash? thanks

  • how is it played as a crash?

  • If you hit it on the edge, as you would on a crash. Some drummers prefer to use rides as crashes.

  • Sorry i meant how is it as a crash, as in how does it sound wen played as a crash lol. For heavier stuff.

  • thats what i do, i want this ride

  • when i play mine as a crash i find it sounds like crap

    its a good ride though

  • This is just an amazing ride!

  • sounds like my 21'' avedis sweet ride :P

  • pro mark nylon tips for me.

  • Second that

Pro Mark 5BN's love em' :)

  • Nylon tips can make your cymbals sounds like an orgasm storm, but they do murder on your heads.

  • es feca porque el raw bell ride es hand hammered no AA

  • YO TENGO UN CRASH DE 18 SABIAN AA

  • may i know what drum heads r u using for the toms?

  • They are Aquarian Studio-X's with a power dot in the middle.

  • ita a jazz ride isnt it? i play metal, rock and jazz lol anyone reccomend this cymbal for my style?

  • a jazz ride would be very dry with quick decay, etc...

  • This ride is great for rock, I actually found it a bit too cutting but I prefer cymbals that blends with the music. The HH isn't a typical jazz-ride either, it's darker and not as cutting though. I think it does sound more expensive aswell, which would explain the bigger price. ;)

I've got one of these by the way, but will probably switch to the HH when I'm able to.

(Look at my one month-old post ^^ Didn't have it back then.)

  • i own one, and i think it works best for heavier rock types of playing

but it still works great for jazz

  • i own this!!!

    i love it!

    :D

  • wow, do stick choices ever make a difference!

  • Man that ride sounds awesome! I'm about to get a new ride soon and this will be a really interesting alternative.

Is yours in natural finish? Can't seem to find anywhere to read about the difference between the finishes.

  • that ride sounds awsome

im thinking of going with the AA cymbals

  • everyone i know has this ride cymbal lol

its the only one i ever used

  • You just gave me an idea!

  • What would that be?

  • thats a very nice cymbal

    flo mounier uses that

    good choice.

nice balanced body, and very clear bell, loud

  • what toms heads are those? plz answer!

  • They are Aquarian Studio-X with Power Dot

  • thank you

  • The bell is gonna be the same what ever the stick.

  • ummm no :P unless u dont "play" the cymbals, ur prolly a basher right? yeah...

  • Errr what ever you say buddy.

  • While the bell will sound the same, the response from the rest of the cymbal will vary with the stick weight

  • I was not pleased with the sound of the D8s though. They seemed a lot more cheap and like I was just"hitting metal" especially compared to the AAs. Can anyone give me any input as to which they would recommend? I'd loved to get the AAs but I would only be able to get about 2 cymbals and maybe the hi-hat if there's a pack that I want.

    Thanks for any help.

  • You mean the B8 series? They B8 series is the lowest line in the Sabian series, and are sheet metal. AA is a professional line and is cast metal, so naturally it will sound better.

  • Yea I meant the B8s, forgive my ignorance. I would love to get some AAs but the price range for the B8s is just right. If anything I would probably want a higher end ride but even then alone it would cost a couple hundred. I'm gonna give the B8s a shot, after all this will be my first upgrade, then maybe in the long run I'll see about upgrading some of them. I heard out of the low end lines of all the brands that Sabian has the best, do you think so?

  • i currently use the B8Pros and i love them. for the price you can't beat and they have a wide range to select from. no doubt the AA's are better. i've tried out several lines, even the Zildjian A customs and Avedis. They sound great, but i've gotten used to hearing my B8Pros. i would try them out first. check out my newer vids and u can hear them recorded

  • Hey thanks for the help man. That's what the guy at Guitar Center was saying that in the tryout room they may sound bad, but that's because they're being compared to the high end, and they would sound find on my drumset at home. I'm betting on his word..

  • Lowest line...? So what are the Solars? XD

  • Cymbals that are only found when paired with a beginners set. While you can buy them separately, they're not really considered a "line", more a freebie with a cheap set.

  • THOSE ones are the "sheet metal" cymbals this guy was talkin about and they are made of sheet brass...

  • no, the B8 series cymbals are not sheet metal. its why they call them "B8" because they are B8 "cast" bronze which is 92% copper and 8% tin. its a crappy mixture compared to the B20 bronze mixture which is used for most cymbals of the higher caliber and the one in this video.

  • Hey man, nice vid, it was helpful for me. I just got back from looking at symbals and have pretty much narrowed it down to Sabian AA's or D8s. The only reason I want the D8s is because it comes in a pack with 5 cymbals and the hi hat.

  • cymbals*

  • Sabian cymbals are so beautiful.

  • The next ride i gonna buy is the Sabian rbdr, but i don't know if its going to be the AA or th HH,they both sound like the best rides i've ever heard.

  • i have the precursor to the chester thompson 22" liquid ride when it was simply called his "signature ride." the difference being that the former has an unlathed bell. trust me though, it sounds totally butters.

  • I agree the HH and the AA really sound good but the AA RBDR Are over $100 cheaper which is why I'm getting the AA.

  • Since I got this when it first came out, a lot of people were wondering what it sounded like. So I figured I'd show them.

  • That sounds sweet.

  • I like it. And want it.

  • that sounds beautiful the only thing which makes me feel a bit wierd but please understand im not slagging of sabian i that well the company was created because of a law suit between armand zildjian and robert zildjian (robert the owner of sabian) and he went sour against his brother and tried to make a competition now Armand is dead That seems a bit harsh for his brother to go to his grave when theynever forgave each other and told them they still loved one another
  • it's sooooooooooooooooooooo!!! hard to get a ride cymbal ur happy with,,,the 1 u want is usualy someone else's hehe...am i right hehe??

  • Did the 747 you used have a Nylon Tip?

  • My next cymbal choice! im getting it orderd in soon!

  • Nooooooooo! Wait! (tomm32) Don't ORDER the cymbal! You might just happen to get one that sucks! Go to a store where you know they have lots of the cymbal you want and pick the one that sounds the best. Even go to multiple music stores. No 2 cymbals sound the same, and not every cymbal sounds good, regardless of the brand and/or series.

  • HAHA thanks! i did go to the music store! Music city and i have my choice narrowed down to this one and the AA 21" Rock ride!

  • yeah the rock ride sounds really good too but I think this ones a little more versitile

  • is this the ride Andy Hurley from Fall Out Boy uses ?

  • Wahahahahahahahaha!

  • Do YOu have a thing for raw bell dry rides?

  • I have the hand hammered version of that, its amazing

  • I gotta 18" B8 thin Sabian crash...Love sabian! lol. Like the video man!

  • I outfitted y kit with nothing but Sabian's AA's including this same dry ride...I just bought this new kit after taking a few years off, and these are the first Sabians I've owned...Heh, I used to be a Paiste guy...Damn am I glad I upgraded :D

    Keep on rockin!!!

  • I love Sabian.Gonna buy me an AA ride soon !

  • sabian owns!paiste are my second favorite, but sabians are better.

  • Sabian is the best all around cymbal company in turms of all their cymbals their crashes their rides their hi hats and so on

  • Wow that's hella nice.

  • stop saying hella Cartman says kyle

  • Nice, I Have 19 Sabian Cymbals With My kit, & I Think This Will Make 20, Nice Sound!

  • lol u have 19?i could barely afford the b8's and xs ride i got

  • beautiful sound!

  • I hate zildjians, even the sheet sabian's sound better

  • Very nice cymbal, I just prefer Zildjians.

  • great sound, i live near the sabian factory in meductic! oh and stephen petersen ur kidding right with the whole "solars are good crack"? right. I have some they are terrible.

  • That thing is just BEASTLY!!!

  • beautiful cymbal. sabian are no doubt the best. even solars are are better than anything

  • sabians crack easily but I like them too. I dont even not like any cymbal exept legacy

  • i started out with solars. i had the choice between headliners and solar. i pick solar. there awesome for bottom of the line:)
