  • So I'm majoring in history, could I be a pilot or part of the special investigations with a history major?

  • @neysito3 Yes and Yes. Google "air force OTS" and search for a good forum. It helped me out tremendously and will better answer all the questions you're bound to have. Good luck!

  • hi i am currently majoring in meteorology and i am planning to be an air force officer after i get my degree. what jobs in the air force are there which relates to my major?

  • Well, the obvious being Weather! Haha. However, pretty much any job is available to you with a college degree. You could apply for a rated slot (Pilot, CSO, ABM, RPA Pilot) with that degree plus Intel, Communications, and things of this nature.

But the AF is cutting Officer jobs as we speak and getting selected is becoming more competitive (and it was already competitive). You'll be most competitive (IMO) applying for 15WX (weather), and any rated slot.

Good luck and keep asking questions!

  • @chrisarreola Hi thanks for your reply! How could I increase my chances of getting selected? In case I don't get selected, do you think the NAVY would be easier to get in to?

    Nice video btw!

  • You sure can. As a matter of fact, roughly 70 - 80% are prior enlisted. If you want a rated slot (a flying job like pilot or navigator) you need to get accepted to OTS before you're 30, all other Officer jobs you can be as old as 35. If you have questions feel free to ask me, glad to help. And word of advice, don't always take the recruiter at face value. Sometimes they have hidden agendas. Good luck!

  • can you go from enlistment to ots? I'm a us citizen living in the uk studying a levels here. I've been in touch with the air force and i'm taking the asvab. Will this rule me out of ots?

  • @wussup331

No , prior enlisted service is actually a plus .

I was, and when I went through OTS in 1978 about half my class was prior enlisted.

I thought OTS was a breeze compared to Army basic training, I actually had a good time.

Back then OTS had about a 50% wash out rate, but most of the drop-outs were people with no military experience, the prior enlisted people generally made it through with no problem.

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha the log part kiiiiilled me!

  • Not A bad video, game a good detail of how AFOTS is. I think AFOTS looks easiers than enlisting...

  • @FeralRealm A lot of the priors there said that they are both challenging in there own different ways. The physical aspect of enlisted training was much more difficult but the overall stress of officer training was much higher. I asked this question to just about all the priors and almost all said they'd do enlisted training over if they were forced to do one or the other. Only because it was "do what you're told" vs "figure it out and make it work!". Either way - it's not all that fun.

  • Were you prior enlist or did you go straight from college to OTS? I have so many questions!
