  • In the end (8.03 min.) Before eating the white pawn on "a3", had Rook "a8 +" and take the Black Tower!! P. S. the board is upside down!

  • Wow are those guys slow> I could have played 4 or 5 games in that much time.

  • So those are the new tables, are they in the same location as the old chess tables? Still think its a shame what they did there, basically raping a cultural landmark. But hey, the locals may like the new tables better for all I know.

  • John Lennon plays chess???

  • this game blew my mind away.

  • I'm guessing black is about a 1600 and white about a 1525. White played the Rossolimo against the Sicilian defense played by black. They should have played one more, but was fun to watch.

  • @7777Ralph Blacks, A master with a grade over 2200+ he was rusty here! :D

  • @Xzeos1221 Are you sure? Because he missed some elementary tactics. Like after ...f6 white could just take on e5 (f6 pawn is pinned to Bf8). And also later after Rd7+ Be7 white can win the bishop with Rxe7+ and Bc4+ winning back the rook on a2. But all in all pretty interesting too watch, the black player (no pun intended) seems to be a nice guy!

  • @DrGenius73 When playing blitz, players miss a lot of things they would easily see in playing a normal game.

  • @superfob54 The tactics I mentioned are too basic to be missed by a reasonably strong player, let alone a player of master level. And btw it's not just these tactics but the level of play during the entire game. Just like 7777Ralph I would say they are 1500-something players.

  • @DrGenius73 What's your rating?

  • @DrGenius73 Not only did he miss that tactic once (the f6 pawn pinned to Bf8), he missed it again when Black made Bf7 (Nxe5 or Bxe5 much better than Qf5). Ultimately, I actually think this was pretty decent chess. White seemed too hesitant in the opening not playing d4 or later e5, and that let black have a nice spatial advantage and a sweet pawn attack on the Queenside. Despite a dubious endgame, some missed tactics, and imo, a passive opening, it was still a good game.

  • that was excellent!

  • Love blacks all out pawn attack early in this game.

  • At 8:19, after white played h6, black simply queens d1Q, Rxd1, Kxd1, h7 then Ra8 wins easily for black

  • @elrondes1 True, Black sacrificed his rook's for no reason!

  • better is after Rxa3 pone "then RxF8 then KxF8 then Bxc5+ then one piece White wins:;)

  • prob one of the best speed chess vids ive seen so far! most other vids you can't hardly tell whats going on!

  • good job joe..

  • wher u fom?, ohio..ive been there..i went to a bar,,,u know it?., its got beer there?, whisky.2 pool tabels, comon, i know u know it,?., no?..a woman bar tender?..still no?..

  • 3:59 bishop takes d4, if white takes with c3, queen takes c1 with check

  • Hey Joe I would love to play you in chess. That was cool to see.

  • That was a helluva game. I thoroughly enjoyed watching every move! I'm actually kinda glad it ended in a draw, being a spectator it almost felt like it should have ended in one. But I'm sure either side may have felt otherwise : )

  • White missed the win at 8:04 by playing Rh6 instead of Rg3+ and winning the black rook.

  • @decave He missed a win earlier than that - at 6:34 he moved Bb4. Bf8+ would have been mate.

  • Where do they sell those chess pieces?

  • Ahh ya had him there, dude, nice game though.

Sorry about my comment no need for that.

  • At 4:12 Knight x The pawn on E5 is totally winning.

  • I like the look of Taking the knight on f6 with the rook then queen G5+

  • Nice game !

  • At 5:51 white plays Rd8 and black answers Kf7?? white wins with R:f8 check since K:f8 is met by B:c5check followed by B:a3 note my algebraic reference is to how board should have been setup anyway black lose the rook at a3 ( h6 by the picture) with no compensation

  • i think in min 3.58 white should Bxe5..free pawn n threaten the queen...isn't it?

  • What was the clock settings in the game?

  • Yeah but if you go there with this attitude, why do you go there at all ? Play the game, if you loose pay the man and if you win and he doesn't pay you well you should have expectedi it. Go back home, a lesson learned 5 dollars. But don't start insulting the guy from the start that's just being a cocky cock. That's the way i see it.

  • The guy on the right is correct at the beginning. Some of the players in the park will bend the rules and they sometimes won't pay you if you beat them.

  • the king on Tb6+ hahaaha fuck who cares. 2+2=FISH

  • @TNTIV Tb6??

  • @moviecritic6 LIke I know. I saw it in the comments so it must be a play on the board

  • Hey jsmith224455, i don't know if you read comments but you could learn a lesson on respect. This man was nice and you were really acting like an idiot there. If you truly understand Washington square park you should know that it's abut respect . The way you introduced yourself and the way you left was really difficult to watch...

  • The correct move of the white color on 8:04 is Tb6+, the king move, and capture the TxT...

The correct inicial posicion of the whites is on the lines 1 and 2, the blacks on the lines 7 and 8...

    Good video!!!

  • Great video, your opponent seems like a good man

  • 4:06 you had knight or bishopXd5 8:03 you had Rb6+ then take his rook

  • 4:06 you had knight or bishop x d5, i say d5 because the boards upside down

  • lol the last time i played with a hustler he tried to hide his strength in the first game i crushed him, then when he played his best i robbed him straight and he didnt pay me... these chumps are 2000-2100 max

  • @BackBurnerNews helo uploader was this you in the video - if so do you have a uscf rating?

  • @5:53, after ...Kf7, Rxf8! wins! (...Kxf8, Bxc5+, ...Kf7, g8, or e8, and then Bxa3). Typical blitz game full of blunders on both sides.

  • After black makes the move f6 on on time frame 3;58 white missed Bishop takes pawn !!!!! black cannot take back with the f6 pawn otherwise queen takes f8!!! and of course he cant take with queen because the knight guards....ROOKIES!!!!

  • I was enthralled watching the game, like I imagine a lot of people were. So I typed up the pgn and analyzed it. No thanks to you two having the board upside down!

  • Here are my thoughts about the specific moves.

    36. Kh2

Why? What does this move accomplish besides setting up the disastrous bishop king fork later in the game?

    40. Bxe7

Chessmaster says White should have captured with his Rook. That would have been a winning position for White.

  • 41. Bb4+

Bfe+ would have been better, he could check again Rxge when Black plays Kg6. That also defends the g2 pawn. Ke6 leads to checkmate.

    48. Rd6

Blows the game by giving Black a fork winning the bishop. White was aiming for where the black rook currently is, not for where it's going to be.

    52. . Kd3

Black gives White a king and rook skewer, Rg3+, which would have won the rook outright.

    53. Rxh6

White fails to take the hanging rook with Rg3+. After this point the computer says it's a draw.

  • 57. ... Re3

I thought this was a mistake. I thought if he promoted he'd take White's rook off the board and then Black could take out the pawns with his rook and win. Wrong. The two pawns would have won the rook. White's king is able to join the fight while Black's king is stuck behind the pawns. Basically it's a draw with perfect play. Either way, it would have been tricky to get the draw for black if he had done that. There's lots of room for mistakes.

  • All in all it was very cool game. Both players played well. White made more mistakes I think. Both made one catastrophic blunder each, sorta. White let the bishop go, and black left his rook hanging, but the difference is that white didn't capitalize on that blunder. So I guess white made two catastrophic blunders.

  • yes like everone else i loved it to good rush just watching

  • Incredible. Great upload.

  • Insane Chess!!!!

  • This was too Good! I was in awe of watching the Game!! Loved it! :D "Silverfuturist Style!" :D

  • You had him til the bishop died.

  • Wow! Thanks for upload very nice!

  • hey i was born and grew up in new haven

  • wow!

  • 7:52 is when you messed up isn't it ?

  • That was great. I watched it twice so I could better understand the game.

I didn't realize until recently how many youtubers seem to know each other in real space. It's like watching characters from two different TV shows interact.

  • That was fun.

  • Lol awesome video! Normally watch this guy for Econ commentary and had know idea he played chess. I'm a national master (uscf 2250) so I saw alot of mistakes but still very entertaining!

  • @5queens i know! i had know idea that he was a chesser either. the brotha thought he was really scared at the end. but we know the deal. that's just pure excitation mmhmm.

  • that porch monkey has no clue how to play chess, i would love to pound his mooley ass sicilian with my b3 line!! i would take that mooley's money!

  • @rapethemexicans That was uncalled for. No need to be a jerk 24/7. Take a break every now and then. World won't fly apart because you stopped acting like an ass for a few moments.

  • Nice to hear your voice again Greg... hasn't enough water gone under the bridge yet?

I am sure that this *community* misses you...

  • "Was the guy black?" That was totally uncalled for. What a insecure douche. Reminds me of the time some black dude jumped out of an alleyway and tried to sell my girlfriend a bag of socks. When she said she didn't want any he said, "I get it. Ya'll don't by socks from nig**rs!!!" I couldn't stop laughing for days.

  • Love speed chess in the park, it doesn't get better than that.

  • sean plays at the park everyday. This is street chess not tournament chess....Joe and Sean played great.

  • Stop Stereotypin'??? I hate it when people play the race card. DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!

  • 2:06 ahhhhhhh!!! joe, u baked off from a would-be bloody fight! blitz chess go 4 the jugular! no time to strategize on aggressive losses. hahaha

  • That was INTENSE!

  • He looked tough. Glad you were along to protect silverfuturist in case the guy got physical! You guys and your huge pipes? He would have been so outgunned. ;)

    .

Fun game to watch! Too bad about the guy being a bit sneaky there at the end. And really nice to see you putting out a video again!

  • hey bbn good to not see, hear from ya, and I am not being onery.

  • That was awesome!

  • 6:33 White Rook c1 could've ended the game but then he pulls back his bishop

  • @mototsprotot oops, opening at b4, nevermind

  • I've always loved how you Americans play Chess out in the street like that. I dont think we tend to do that much here in the UK. That was a very awesome game right there and my god it was fast.

  • that was awesome!!

  • Glad to see you posting.... :)

    Missed ya.

    xxoxoxo

    Michelle

  • what the hell just happened? is that even humanly possible to play that fast

  • Woah my mind has been blown...

  • Hardcore...

  • Wow! So awesome.

  • that was epic! wow!

  • sick match boys.

  • super.

  • fast thinking Joe!! Wow.

  • man--that was cool--

  • Reminds me what it must have been like in the days of Plato folks sitting about playing chess

  • @CTOL1 chess as we play it today has been around for less than 500 years and it was first conceived in India they say.

  • of course it was a black guy, who else would rob someone for 5 dollars?

  • @HumanAccount Instead of complimenting his amazing skill you insult the man. You are a certified DickHead!

  • @kryogenikz take a joke dickhead

  • @HumanAccount PLEASE...GO...AWAY

  • lol

    stalemate

hmm...is it odd that the blk guy is playing the blk pieces and the white guy the white pieces?

  • @1x93cm I think he does that as a way to hustle amateurs. White has a slight advantage, so he wants to make the first game look close to convince the mark to play a second time - then he wiped them out with white and collects his 10 bucks.

  • @silverfuturist yah well....it's capitalism! =D

  • Wait....who won?

  • Haha. Awesome. Wish I was there. Played chess my whole life and had a rating over 1900 at one point!

  • @Exposethefrauds Cool, do you still play? I was 2025 at my highest. In that game after winning the bishop I dorked it in time pressure, that was kind of embarrassing.

  • @silverfuturist I actually still just fool around and play online with that fritz program. I dont take it serious anymore. I forgot everything. I used to study it like crazy. All the Jeremy Sillman books and stuff. At one point I was awesome but I forgot everything. When you put your rook on the seventh rank I knew that you knew how to play, lol. Great playing. Using a clock is so hard. The time constraint screws me up every time.

  • @Exposethefrauds Check out Rybka if you haven't yet, it is a free download and it is rated something insane like 3000.

  • That dude looks like denzel washington

  • @Oathtaker4life Thanks, I didn't think I was that good looking!

  • DUDE!!! If you're back AWESOME! If not, you've killed a couple babies and, kitties. :( Nice video bro!

  • Impressive. I know nothing about Chess... I didn't know some pieces could move so far in one move. Hard to keep track when they start moving quickly.

  • @shaurz Bishops can move as far as they want diagonally, Knights they can move in an L shape, no diagonal moves, 2 moves ithe same direction, then left or right. They can also move once left or right, then 2 moves in the same direction. The Rooks can move as far as they want in 1 direction, no diagonal. The queen moves any direction, diagonal, straight or sideways as far as she can. King moves only 1 block any direction. Pawns 2 moves on first move, then only 1 straight. Attack diagonal only.

  • @enacku I've never seen anyone keep moving a pawn back from the opposite end, back and forth, with an option to change later to the piece of choice. I had no idea you can do that.

  • @ytgv3fc7 You can get any piece back, only if a pawn makes it to the end of your opponents side. He was just using the pawn for a few moves as a queen because they were playing timed chess. You can hear Joe say "what piece is that", then finally he replaced it with a queen

  • @enacku Yes, and I could have stopped the game right there and declared a win because he did not declare his promoted pawn! In blitz an illegal move loses, and what he was doing was not legal.

  • great game!

  • Totally badass. :-0

  • @AgrippasNotebook3336 Thanks! Badbrain!

  • @silverfuturist

    lol

I think that "badbrain" would have negative connotations...like some sort of mental retardation, which you clearly don't have. : P It was really fun watching you play though, thanks!

  • haha cool video

  • waw!

  • excellent video :)

  • very cool!

  • hah ...great job guys.. glad to se you back BB ...:-)

  • Good times, good times.

  • nice! good skills with the camera

  • I just knew Joe was a chess player! ;)

  • That was Awesome! Silverfuturist just won another subscriber.

  • @urfastpaydaily Thanks!

  • I play a mean game of checkers -lol

  • Fun post.. thanks

  • Wow... Joe is the real deal at chess. Congratulation Joe. Now I would like to see him school Ben Bernanke in a game. lol

  • Should have taken the bishop with the e2 rook @ 6:20

  • @yogiudo In a fast game I chose the less complicated path - by pulling the bishop back to put him in discovered check, it enabled me to pull a rook back to prevent his counter-attack. I more time now I see that after taking his pawn on G7 the rook defends my G2 pawn!

  • Loved it!

  • that was some sound game!!!

  • great game!

  • His pawns were all over the place. What's 5$ anyway when helicopter Ben passes over :)

  • Joe got some good skills, you know that guy probably played for decades talking about the 70's LOL. .... "WAS THE GUY BLACK?" @ :49 .... Classic!!

  • @charlesfuchs Yea, they guy was trying to psyche me out! It didn't work, I am chess trash-talking jaded.

It is a true story, my friend was up 8 games at the park and his opponent said he didn't have any money left to pay him.

  • @silverfuturist I would say...... "Anyone wants to play for an 1 OZ of Silver" :-)

  • That was intense !

  • Glad to see you back BB and once again a great video of real life downtown playing a great game of chess great stuff.

  • good show! lol

  • I've never finished a game in less than 20 min.

  • Lol nice game good to watch ;0)

  • That was exciting game Joe had him in check mate in 4 moves I though, but I'm not sure I would need watch at part again.

    Good game though.

  • @davincij15 I was running a lot lower on time than him, I missed many good moves... I only had seconds when the game ended.

  • @davincij15 Don't think so. I think Joe castled on his 4th move but the guy had Joe's bishop attack covered ok.

It was quite good fun to watch though. I certainly couldn't play very well at that speed.

I'd expect Joe to do pretty well. I think he has a sharp brain & a good memory. The other guy is no mug either as far as chess goes.

It was a very good subject for a video I thought.

Of course the cameraman was pretty crap...................... Just kiddin'

  • Wow...these guys would clean me out!

  • at 8:30 he did not declare the promotion of his pawn - that is an illegal move, losing a blitz game! Many chess hustlers will not declare their promotion, then if you move onto the wrong square they will then claim it was a knight promotion!

  • That was totally fun to watch

  • whew!!
